May is to make an important announcement at 11.15

kittylester Tue 18-Apr-17 10:14:24

Oh no!!!

Anniebach Tue 18-Apr-17 10:15:40

She is making an announcement from the pulpit outside No.10 , serious

Riverwalk Tue 18-Apr-17 10:16:00

Surely not! Doesn't the Fixed-Term Parliament Act preclude that possibility right now hmm.

I don't think I could take the strain of it all shock

kittylester Tue 18-Apr-17 10:16:01

I can't find a reference to that Annie, where did you see it?

Riverwalk Tue 18-Apr-17 10:17:06

Royal Family, War, Resignation??

Or Second Referendum!!

daphnedill Tue 18-Apr-17 10:19:19

It's all over Twitter kitty.

It could be, because it was only a month ago that she said there wouldn't be one and she seems rather good at U-turns.

Anniebach Tue 18-Apr-17 10:21:03

It was announced by No 10 to the media and has been reported on BBC and Sky

daphnedill Tue 18-Apr-17 10:21:37

Oh well! We'll have to be patient. Time to mow the lawn, hoover downstairs, put washing in the washing machine and unload the dishwasher...or have another cup of coffee. Decisions, decisions!

Anniebach Tue 18-Apr-17 10:23:20

Hell bells, I only resigned as chair in my local party last Saturday had several telephone calls already , please not an election, please

Anniebach Tue 18-Apr-17 10:24:38

I need a brandy not a coffe, better still a Valium

daphnedill Tue 18-Apr-17 10:26:45

Sterling has just dropped within the last few minutes. If you have any foreign currency and want to take a risk, buy sterling, because it will possibly rise again this afternoon.

PS.Don't blame me if it all goes wrong.

POGS Tue 18-Apr-17 10:28:17

Interesting isn't it.

I will go for a General Election 1st

Theresa May resigning 2nd.

As only a handful of people know it is wait and see if it something or nothing.

daphnedill Tue 18-Apr-17 10:28:49

I don't see how it could be an election with the Fixed Term Parliaments Act, but who knows?

kittylester Tue 18-Apr-17 10:31:54

Presumably it wouldn't be impossible to rid us of the Fixed Term in a hurry if necessary, would it?

daphnedill Tue 18-Apr-17 10:32:25

I hope we're not going to war.

Anniebach Tue 18-Apr-17 10:32:58

A fixed term parliament is not written in stone

Riverwalk Tue 18-Apr-17 10:34:34

I think she's going to resign!

MawBroon Tue 18-Apr-17 10:36:01

daphne get a grip smile - but seriously, we can all be worried, but panicking up front (I am sure you are NOT panicking, just voicing fears) does nothing bar raise the blood pressure.
As my mum would have said when I asked what was for lunch/tea
"Wait and see"
And have another cup of coffee, and maybe a Danish because if we are all going to hell in a handcart who gives a about calories.

whitewave Tue 18-Apr-17 10:36:15

It might be a storm in a teacup hmm

It won't be war as there would be more rumours. It might be something like distancing ourselves from Trumps ramblings.

Yes fixed term can't be got rid of just like that can it?

Must have a look on twitter

Riverwalk Tue 18-Apr-17 10:37:45

There goes my riverwalk - I'll be glued to Laura Keunssberg instead for the next couple of hours!

MawBroon Tue 18-Apr-17 10:38:17

There should have been a set of 4 "*" between "gives a " ...and "about calories".

Luckygirl Tue 18-Apr-17 10:38:48

Some old friends of ours are visiting for the day - due to arrive soon. I will defer the delight of knowing what the statement is about until after they have gone. I just hope against hope that she is not about to involve us with Trump and his international games. Or maybe she has just had enough of the job - and who could blame her?

Anniebach Tue 18-Apr-17 10:41:54

As it's from the pulpit it is a big announcement surely, she used it when she became PM, Cammeron used it when he resigned

whitewave Tue 18-Apr-17 10:44:14

It does seem over dramatic to announce an election I would have thought.

Johnson making a statement this afternoon

Must just stick the sheets out make coffee and put on the tv!!
