As for abusing the leader, please, that is so dramatic

This is due to be a very messy sort of election - so many issues - Scottish Independence - Ireland and possible reunification - NHS, Education and Grammar schools, and then Brexit besides the ones I have forgotten.
With each of these topics selected individually there could be vastly differing results - how is anyone to tell what people really want - the best thing is a truly hung Parliament where they have to co- operate and perhaps alliances would be different for each issue and the population may get some action which they are actually happy about.

I have told you before I have no allegiance to Corbyn, apart from the fact that he is the elected leader of a party with policies I agree with. I actually have more respect for those who support the conservatives and say that they do so than for anyone who consistently refuses to accept a democratically elected leader, abuses that leader, and posts comments that encourage and support right wing prejudices.

Wondering about the extent to which the numerous cases of alleged election fraud against the Tories have put the wind up her.
She's need a bigger majority to survive if those chickens came home to roost.
Who, one wonders, will they put in charge of their election campaign this time? And how carefully will the election commission be watching their expenditure?

I think this election will be far more about issues than any we have had for a while. I shall certainly be voting for the issues raised and what their stance is on them. As yet I just know it won't be a Tory due to the Brexit negotiations etc.

TriciaF, she has to get a two thirds majority to hold an election or repeal the 5 Year Parliament Act which requires 50+1 or get a vote of no confidence in her. I think the 50+1 refers to half the House+1 but not sure on maths of that one. She will get it one way or the other.

And anyone who supports corbyn is doing what you Trisher are acusing con voters of doing, it is you who need to rethink your allegiance to Corbyn ,he will not win and all you list will remain the same, so really supporting Corbyn is letting down the vunerable

Yes it's correct, if any are on hols don't think some will not still turn up, there was the labour MP who was in hospital having chemo but was wheeled from the hospital to vote then returned to hospital

So saying Theresa is "scared" of a TV debate is 'verbal abuse', what does that make calling someone a "militant toad"?
As for slagging off other posters if you can't take it don't dish it out.

No worries with anyone who votes for the Lib Dems but for those who are proposing to vote Conservative I hope they can accept responsibility for longer hospital waiting lists and the demise of the NHS, the funding of a divisive education system which won't serve the needs of most children, the deaths of more disabled people who have their benefits cut, more homeless people and the suffering of the poorest paid like care workers and teaching assistants. And if the only thing that makes them support such policies is a dislike of Mr Corbyn I think they need to rethink their priorities.

Is it correct that there has to be a vote in Parliament about whether she can over-ride the 5 year GE law? If so she has to have 2 thirds majority of the votes to go ahead with it.

varian, I think the libs will do better than expected, I have hopes they will take this constituency back from the useless Tory we have had since 2015,

I am absolutely sure, suzied that your constituency will not just have a half-decent candidate, but a really good candidate.

The LibDems already have candidates in place in two thirds of constituencies and will not take long to select others.

From my experience, I can tell you that the selection process is thorough and rigorous, there is a lot of competition and the candidate you are presented with will have been selected democratically by all of the constituency party.

Please support her/him - or better still get involved in helping her/him win.

I know someone who has been a lifelong Trotskyist. They believe in world revolution aka the total overthrow of capitalism. They would view Corbyn as middle of the road. They would no more join the Labour party than they would vote for Le-Penn. In fact they are more likely to vote for someone like Le-Penn because they would tell you that would provoke the workers to rise up and overthrow the system.
Corbyn is no further left than some of the Labour leaders and PMs we had in the post-war decades.

My constituency has the worst Labour MP in the world. He is never in parliament and the last question he asked was about the commemoration of Agincourt. He is never in the constituency apart from the beer festival. I am not voting for him. I am hoping the lib Dems have a half decent candidate. Other than that it's the Greens. The trouble is , there's no one to vote for to represent me.

Back at the dawn of history, when I was, for the first time, old enough to vote (I was 24 and a half, a graduate with five years working experience and a mother by then), I voted Labour.

Since then I have voted Liberal, SDP and Liberal Democrat.

You could say I still retain some left wing views but if I was ever seriously considering voting Labour again I would be entirely put off, not just by the pathetic leadership of Jeremy Corbyn, but by the obvious divisions in the party between those that might describe themselves as social democrats and those much further to the left who seem to have a very old fashioned Trotskyist agenda.

Reading the posts on Gransnet, and seeing constant squabbles between the Corbynites and anti-Corbinytes amongst the long-standing Labour supporters only serves to reinforce my committment to the Liberal Democrats.
