She thinks offering a hard Brexit will neutralise UKIP. ( will N Farage stand?)It's becoming clear that it's unlikely she will achieve any massive decline in immigration without an equally massive decline in living standards, so when she dishes up an expensive dogs breakfast / Brexit, she can say she had the mandate.
Not yet, I hope. My MP said she was leaving at the next election, so we have to choose a new candidate now. If the boundaries change, there will be one MP for the whole of the dales, including part of Northumberland! Ridiculous, geographically.
Exactly, daphne. Labour are going to have a tough decision. It depends on whether they want to stay in the EU or not. Britain does not have to leave the EU. There can be turning back. May is going for a hard Brexit, and only 37% of the voting population voted for that. Why is May going for a hard Brexit? Not many people want that as far as I can see. I don't know why she wants it.
She's such a liar. Everything she is saying is a lie. I think she really does want out.
Both say they're registered. DS lives in a Remain/LibDem constituency. DD is moving to a Remain constituency next weekend, which had a LibDem MP until 2015 and says she'll make sure she gets registered. Both are going to vote LibDem (even daughter) and have promised me they'll get all their friends to vote LibDem...
Apparently 70% of Labour voters voted Remain, so they're going to have to make a tough decision. At least Arron Banks won't have time to get his Patriotic Alliance together to fight all the "bad MPs".
It will be interesting to see how many Labour MPs will vote against this tomorrow. The Labour Party will now show itself either as a spent force when it comes to representing the left or come together to save themselves. That, in itself, should be interesting.
We may find there are groupings we haven't yet anticipated asking for our votes.
I think she should have carried on without calling an election. But she will know stuff that we dont know.
I am not sure if she is calling it to try and shut some people up, but it wont work in my opinion. The social landscape seems to have changed in that people carry on complaining regardless of any vote.
No, it won't dj. The Conservatives have an absolute majority in this constituency. Only the LibDems could beat them and they're in disarray. We might get a new MP though. The local party tried to kick ours out before the last election. He's 80 and, frankly, doesn't do a lot. The trouble is I know who the replacement candidate would be and he's worse!
I think it will be watch and wait Jen. Talk about 'events dear boy, events' This could galvanise all flavours or politics or even an anti-conservative, anti-hard Brexit group working together.
JC just said he welcomes the Prime Minister's decision.
What do you think will happen about the Tory election fraud of 2015? The police are still looking into it. Hopefully May's Tory advisers will be more careful this time, and do everything by the book.
