May is to make an important announcement at 11.15

daphnedill Sun 23-Apr-17 22:23:01

If that's not a safety helmet, what is it?

durhamjen Sun 23-Apr-17 22:16:06

Daphne, I like this comment on that Evening Standard article.

"So where were those two ardent Remain multimillionaires Blair & Branson's millions then? Still 'Remaining' in their offshore bank accounts no doubt."

GracesGranMK2 Sun 23-Apr-17 22:15:29

I see we are back to the high intellectual chat again shock

rosesarered Sun 23-Apr-17 22:06:37

Think Lenin is still 'on show' ( could be wrong, but never heard about a burial.)

Anniebach Sun 23-Apr-17 21:57:56

Off topic in a way, did Putin ever agree to the burial of Lenin

Anniebach Sun 23-Apr-17 21:56:46

It was not a helmet

daphnedill Sun 23-Apr-17 21:47:22

The high viz jacket and safety helmet?

Anniebach Sun 23-Apr-17 21:47:15

best toss a coin, both looked rediculous , little wonder he is known as Albert Steptoe,

daphnedill Sun 23-Apr-17 21:46:08

He might not want a starring role, but I wouldn't mind betting he has his pistol loaded.

rosesarered Sun 23-Apr-17 21:44:45

Which is worse?

Anniebach Sun 23-Apr-17 21:43:37

Oh hell Rosesarered, the Lenin hat or the Trump baseball cap.

rosesarered Sun 23-Apr-17 21:41:23

That was to ab btw grin

daphnedill Sun 23-Apr-17 21:41:07

lnow = know

rosesarered Sun 23-Apr-17 21:40:39

.....in his Lenin hat.smile

daphnedill Sun 23-Apr-17 21:40:36

I'd give Blair odds of about 1,000,000/1.

However, I lnow who might be be waiting behind the curtain on the right.

The London Evening Standard is headlining with a story:

Brexit campaign mostly funded by five of UK's richest businessmen, study finds

www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/brexit-campaign-mostly-funded-by-five-of-uks-richest-businessmen-study-finds-a3521571.html

Now I wonder if the Standard's editor had any input.hmmgrin

Anniebach Sun 23-Apr-17 21:37:29

I doubt it very much Petra, I still think Yvette Cooper would be a match for May and she is feisty, she can hold her ground in interviews . Oh well too late, we are stuck with the second rate Castro

daphnedill Sun 23-Apr-17 21:33:08

I would vote for anyone whom Neil Hamilton insulted! Commiserations for having him dumped on you! sad

petra Sun 23-Apr-17 21:30:33

Is it remotely possible that Blair is waiting in the wings judging by his comments this lunchtime: " I almost want to jump back in there"

Anniebach Sun 23-Apr-17 21:28:29

But makes Welsh Labour in the Assembly weaker, oh hell we will have another bi election here , this could be serious for Labour , bloody Corbyn

varian Sun 23-Apr-17 21:20:42

Good, lets hope Kirsty stands and wins with the help of your vote, Annie

Anniebach Sun 23-Apr-17 21:08:49

Varian, The WEC will choose our candidates, not one labour MP has stood down so there are 15 seats fir Lsbour to fight.

Kirsty is very much liked in the Assembly - with the exception of Neil Hamilton who called her Caerwen's concubine ! If she has decided to stand for parliament I am sure the WEC will select her , Leanne is dithering on standing for Plaid in the Rhondda, I doubt she will.

If Kirsty is selected and if my protégé decides not to stand this time I will probably vote for Kirsty , she will win

Devorgilla Sun 23-Apr-17 21:02:09

Ab, I can understand your position but at least you don't have to vote Tory. I cannot understand people who have voted Labour all their lives and claim to prefer their principles doing an about turn and voting Tory. Better to spoil your vote under those circumstances. I hear such people saying they like TM because she is a strong leader. Strong for what? A Hard Brexit, a dismantling of the welfare state, a favouring of the rich over the poor or any combination thereof? We face huge constitutional and economic changes post this election which will last decades, perhaps centuries. We cannot afford to get it wrong. 'Strong' does not always equal 'the best for everyone'. History teaches us that some 'strong' leaders got it very badly wrong to everyone's cost.

GracesGranMK2 Sun 23-Apr-17 19:56:39

TM is clear on the fact that she won't agree to free movement, and as far as I can see that's Labour policy as well.
It probably depends on yours and their definition of "freedom of movement" Fitzy.

I think the result would be an economic nightmare
I imagine it depends on how rich you actually are. If you think you can be comfortable while the Conservatives attack everyone else, I am afraid they have drained that well dry. You - if you have been alright so far - and anyone who has escaped the attacks so far will be next. Obviously the very rich may be an exception under the Conservatives.

Aren't you Keynesian at home Fitzy? When things are good you save for a rainy day and when they are not you invest in anything that can increase your income. Or do you follow the Tory mantra and starve yourself while not actually paying off your debt. Whoever gets in the situation is not good and nothing the Conservatives have done has improved it so neither will be able to be adverse to taxing where they feel they can. I would be happier if those who have benefited so far, including pensioners, except the very poorest, all paid their bit now. We have surely had enough people staying comfortable on the backs of the poor and less able.

varian Sun 23-Apr-17 19:16:14

Do not despair Annie. Things could change. If Kirsty Williams does stand for the Liberal Democrats in your constituency, I really hope you will support her.

Anniebach Sun 23-Apr-17 19:07:16

Devor, makes no difference in my constituency, it has been Lab or Tory since the seventies , it's hardly going to swing to labour this time
