Interesting how t'innernet can be applied to most things these days - someone has made a spreadsheet and put it online:

I still don't understand your point about back to labour.

rosesarered Fri 05-May-17 20:27:04

I never talk politics with my DGS, the older one has autism and sees the world as black or white ( no nuances) and the others are more interested in Peppa Pig or
Lego!

rosesarered Fri 05-May-17 20:28:46

Green is my favourite colour too smile

rosesarered Fri 05-May-17 20:30:03

I can't see PR being on the agenda for a long time.

Jalima1108 Fri 05-May-17 20:30:15

Do you want your grandchildren to be selfish,
What daft questions.

Of course, one could put a positive spin on the idea of a billionaire using his wealth to do good in impoverished areas of the world rather than label him as greedy.
A contrast between Bill Gates and Phil Green could be a good lesson in ethics.
Tony Blair could be used as another example of a potentially good person who has taken the wrong path in life.

Bill Gates has given away much of his money.Granted, he has a lot, but he still didn't have to be as generous as he has been.

durhamjen Fri 05-May-17 20:32:11

But you do not teach him five days a week, do you?
Maths and English isn't really enough.
He likes learning about different countries, and climate change.
You can't talk about climate change without talking politics.
In three years time he will be able to vote.
We went through all the leaflets that were put through the door and compared them. Nothing from a Tory though for the local elections.

Do you think 15 year olds shouldn't know about where to go to vote, what they are voting for, where their taxes will go and the council tax? His parents work for the council. He wants to know how they get paid. He wants to know how politicians get paid.
Is it wrong to tell him?

Jalima1108 Fri 05-May-17 20:32:15

I try and teach my 15 year old grandson about civic responsibility Good.
DGD is on the School Council.
She's 8.

Jalima1108 Fri 05-May-17 20:33:23

Is it wrong to tell him?
Oh dear
what has that got to do with the Bill Gates Foundation?

durhamjen Fri 05-May-17 20:35:08

Jalima, have you got an autistic grandchild?

rosesarered Fri 05-May-17 20:37:13

IMHO it's not a good idea to influence any children/teenagers on voting habits.
I certainly wouldn't attempt any with my own DGC.What others do is up to them.

Jalima1108 Fri 05-May-17 20:39:36

Does it make a difference?; surely one should not influence one way or another.

durhamjen Fri 05-May-17 20:53:58

KS3 and 4 citizenship courses include everything I have said.
It's impossible to teach a child in your own home without them being influenced.
Do you suggest I do not answer his questions truthfully when we talk about what's right and wrong?

The reason I asked, Jalima, is because autistic children often see things in different ways to others. They like to ask questions and see things quite simplistically.
People are either good or bad. We have talked about Tony Blair and what he has done that was good and what was bad. He actually asks me sometimes if what May says is good, and I have to say yes. However we then have to decide if she is doing what she said she would. That's even more interesting than Tony Blair.

Whether you call it "tactical" or not it's basically flip-flopping.
