Voting quandry

I'm a life-long Labour voter but cannot bear to suppprt Corbyn in the forthcoming election. The party will remain a shambles until it is under proper leadership and he seems to have totally lost the plot. I will not vote Conservative for many reasons and I feel betrayed by Theresa May's u-turn on Brexit, u-turn on not calling an election...there is no trust.

I will not abstain - the vote is a privilege. But for the first time I am seriously at a loss. There is no credible opposition. Locally there are no viable candidates that I feel I can endorse in order to make a point. I need to put my X in the box and it's the first time ever I've thought they are all as bad as each other.

I have never said I wouldn't vote for Corbyn because his dress code leaves much to be desired. I believe him to be dishonest and if he said tomorrow is Monday I would check the Calender .

I will admit I was surprised McDonald did't deny he was a Marxist this morning, he was honest

I can't be bothered with Annie's petty grievances either.
I agree with that.

POGS Sun 07-May-17 11:15:00

HOLD THE FRONT PAGE. I AGREE WITH DAPHNEDIL!

daphnedill Sat 06-May-17 14:38:38

" Pah! I can't be bothered with your petty grievances ab. I'm not voting Labour, but that's not because I don't like Corbyn's hat, but because I don't think Labour has good policies"

Amen to that. √√√

grin.

You have expressed your admiration of Kinnock several times on Gransnet.

Anniebach Sun 07-May-17 10:09:21

And in fairness the Sheffield rally was after nine long , hard years of climbing out ofthe pit the far left had plunge the party into, it certaintly wasn't the day after a day of loss of hundreds of labour councillors and gains for the Tories

Anniebach Sun 07-May-17 09:40:43

No it wasn't ok, and I am not a fan of Kinnock he and his wife are friends.

He has said that evening was a mistake and I know he regrets it . But thankfully it was a one off .

The momentum cheer leaders unfortunately not a one off ,

Eloethan Sun 07-May-17 09:17:45

I don't go much on these overwrought demonstrations of support either. But have a look at Kinnock's "We're Alright" 1992 Sheffield Rally, anniebach. www.google.co.uk/search?q=1992+kinnock+rally&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b&gfe_rd=cr&ei=CtcOWbrxIOqstgeG7JuQCw. The BBC described it as "the nearest British equivalent to an American-style convention". I know you're a huge fan of Kinnock so presumably that was OK.

Watched Corbyns momentum rally yesterday. So embarrassing, vulgar, so not British , when have we had party leaders receive all that name chanting before a speech ? then he had to put on that forced 'here we are again, happy as can be' act.

When was any party leader greeted in such a way? Applause yes, but the chanting? Please so Beetles 1960's .

I agreed with one thing he said, we must learn from history or we will repeat it.

Someone once said on this forum that I should stop bringing up the 1983 election and the wilderness years, it's history.!

That is the hope for this country ?

To ask candidates on the doorstep.

rosesarered Sat 06-May-17 23:28:38

So how will you do it?

durhamjen Sat 06-May-17 23:26:46

A really good reason not to vote Tory.
This is what they have done now to bereaved widow(er)s with children.

voxpoliticalonline.com/2017/05/06/tory-voters-want-the-bereaved-to-be-penalised-for-losing-their-loved-ones/

Even more determined to get rid of this disgusting government that doesn't care for families whatever they pretend.

rosesarered Sat 06-May-17 23:24:20

No quandary for me either.(different reasons I expect though.)

No quandary for me.

GracesGranMK2 Sat 06-May-17 22:26:22

This was not a comment about politics, etc., it was personal - about me and used religion against me.

It seems you have your own reasons which make you determined to continue this conversation but I really think it serves no purpose so forgive me but I will not reply to any more such posts.

norose4 Sat 06-May-17 22:23:06

Any opinion has the potential to be offensive to another person, but surely if we join a site such as this we expect to come across different points of view & not take offence. politics & religion by nature invite strong opinions & views . If we don't want to know what other people's views are then we just don't join the thread It is sad that you have taken offence, I am not trying to change anyone's point of view just sharing my own.

GracesGranMK2 Sat 06-May-17 22:09:57

Even when they are offensive norose? Are you re-writing a GN Bible now?

norose4 Sat 06-May-17 21:58:24

If I am not mistaken this is a site for sharing, exchange, agreeing, disagreeing etc etc , which means interacting with other posters, whilst keeping an open mind & not taking offense to another point of view .

GracesGranMK2 Sat 06-May-17 21:49:55

We would have to be seeing it from a different perspective norose. You were not on the receiving end of the comment which has now been repeated.

norose4 Sat 06-May-17 21:39:28

Well sadly we are viewing this from a different perspective. Thank you for your polite replies, I thought we were sharing differing point of views, & to top it all I see we are actually on a Voting Quandry thread it's quite interesting & amazing how discussions can develop.

GracesGranMK2 Sat 06-May-17 21:34:00

Norose, I have only been replying to your points out of politeness. I am really not interested in such odd arguments but I am interested in people who attempt to use religion as a weapon on here. I think it is despicable. That is the start and finish of it really.

norose4 Sat 06-May-17 21:26:09

Exactly Graces! Therein lies the problem

GracesGranMK2 Sat 06-May-17 21:22:57

Sadly, I am sure you are. Every religion ever started thinks they have the word of God or their Gods.

norose4 Sat 06-May-17 21:20:51

I am tempted to say God

GracesGranMK2 Sat 06-May-17 21:18:17

Although technically I was miss quoting a word for word account , but not misquoting the teachings of Jesus & therefore God as is written in the bible.

Oh dear. Who convinced you of that?

Anniebach Sat 06-May-17 21:11:37

I didn't say you did norose, you didn't quote scripture so why would I say you dud
