You are indeed right that 'an eye for an eye' is in the Old Testament norose4 but, as the Old Testament is considered to be the word of God, I don't think you will find all (if any) strands of Christianity throwing it out in favour of JUST the New Testament. For instance Jesus spent 40 days and 40 nights in the dessert being tempted by the devil and, if you check, all Jesus' answers were all based on the Old Testament, so I think you would find many shades of Christianity would accept that what is said in the OT has to be taken into account.
However, I am not really interested in a debate about Christians and Christianity but more about people who use anything they can to attack - not nice when it descends to the levels Roses has and not, in my personal opinion, unforgivable. As for hell - well yes it does get a mention
but many now believe it is the separation from God and the fire and brimstone descriptions were and attempt to give the uneducated some idea what that might be like but therein lies a very, very long discussion
