Voting quandry

I'm a life-long Labour voter but cannot bear to suppprt Corbyn in the forthcoming election. The party will remain a shambles until it is under proper leadership and he seems to have totally lost the plot. I will not vote Conservative for many reasons and I feel betrayed by Theresa May's u-turn on Brexit, u-turn on not calling an election...there is no trust.

I will not abstain - the vote is a privilege. But for the first time I am seriously at a loss. There is no credible opposition. Locally there are no viable candidates that I feel I can endorse in order to make a point. I need to put my X in the box and it's the first time ever I've thought they are all as bad as each other.

Having recently been to two funerals of friends who were younger than me I do feel priveleged to be here at all, having lived more than seventy years in a peaceful and prosperous Europe, thanks in partto the EU.

I feel very sad at the thought thag my grandchildren may not be so fortunate.

I didn't read it all Ana, got the urge to yawn and yawn and yawn. So we all have privalaged lives ? Wonder which month I had mine

Ana Sat 06-May-17 17:55:11

I must admit I had a 'what???' moment when I read that GGMk2 thought you lived a privileged life Annie, but then she rambled on to say that we all live 'privileged lives' who post on here - i.e. we're not starving and can obviously afford to idle away our time looking at the internet...hmm

Anniebach Sat 06-May-17 17:45:51

Naturally Eeleothan, did you not read I live a privalaged life, which must be true because GG said so. We of privalaged lives tend to vote Tory

Anniebach Sat 06-May-17 17:30:57

Aw Rosesarered, Shami was in the Lords in two months, surely my efforts which will have brought about a Tory victory - because of that bloody cap- will be enough to have me in the New Years honours list ? I have influenced the undecided voters here to vote Tory, and managed to get centre and left of centre labour voters here to vote Tory and this will bring about a Tory victory.

If there us a low turnout because of heavy rain that too will be caused by me.

The one above all reproach and without sin is Jez

anniebach She certainly should do for services to the Conservative Party.

rosesarered Sat 06-May-17 16:36:16

GracesGranMK2 Sat 06-May-17 16:33:56

Thanks for the information about students and the postal voting Daphne and the link Jen. Link has been Facebooked and is already being shared.

Anniebach Sat 06-May-17 16:19:00

Wonder if May will put me forward for an OBE for services to the world of politics

Jalima1108 Sat 06-May-17 16:06:31

-- ditto --

Oops, I did it again!

Jalima1108 Sat 06-May-17 16:05:19

Gransnet political threads - required reading before entering the voting booth!

ps I was only saying ditto to the first sentence of norose's post as I doubt that the present Labour leader and his shadow cabinet could get us out of a paper bag. hmm

Ana Sat 06-May-17 16:05:07

Yeah - Gransnet is the go-to site for the movers and shakers in influencial circles. Mumsnet probably has more influence! grin

Anniebach Sat 06-May-17 16:04:15

Jalima ,you are so mistaken, my posts are going affect the UK posters and cost labour the election. They will be badly affected by my posts on that hat according to one . Bit confusing because I am swaying the country to vote Tory with my monotonous posts , not forgetting I need to shut up and grow up

norose4 Sat 06-May-17 16:02:38

I think the days of doggedly voting for ones favoured party have gone, our country is going through a particularly difficult time , & I am sure we all want the best for all of us, but we really do need to think carefully about who is most capable of doing this.

Beammeupscottie Sat 06-May-17 16:01:38

Labour - in it's present form -
to get us out of a mess. You mean the likes of Diane Abbot et al! Wake up and smell the coffee folks.

rosesarered Sat 06-May-17 16:00:54

Unless we are more influential than we think Jalima ( strongly doubt it though)

Jalima1108 Sat 06-May-17 15:59:29

Oh, someone already said that
norose ditto!

Jalima1108 Sat 06-May-17 15:58:35

People will read what you write and be put off voting for Labour
I hardly think there are that many people who will be influenced by what a group of grannies post!

durhamjen Sat 06-May-17 15:57:22

Hopefully and it will not be the Tories, as they have created this mess we are in now.

norose4 Sat 06-May-17 15:54:57

Daphnidill, Do you really believe other gransnetters would be put off voting for their party of choice because of reading articles posted on here. People will hopefully vote for the party they think is best suited to getting us out of the mess we are in at this present moment in time.

rosesarered Sat 06-May-17 15:47:01

Hopefully Labour will have a credible Leader in five years time.No party should really have more than three terms in office.

rosesarered Sat 06-May-17 15:45:17

It hardly matters what anyone is voting, as we all know who will win this time around.

norose4 Sat 06-May-17 15:43:29

Ohhps sorry spelling mistake. THEIR party of choice , sound better
