Here we go then. I am going to outline all the information I can get hold of without the flim flam and criticism of other parties.

Other folks are more than welcome to join in - but I would ask you keep it as objective as possible without the temptation of trashing the opposition. We can do that on other threads. I always bite off more than I can chew so will appreciate help -cheers!!

This stuff has been kindly donated by another gran whose name escapes me at the moment but I will add it later.

The following can be described as a statement of intent - it isn't the manifesto, so it can be compared to the manifesto when it gets published

Economy/Business
We intend to achieve a growing stable economy

1. Ensure regional growth
2. Embrace new technology
3. Belief in globalisation
4. Live within our means
5. Sensible deficit reduction - but also productive investment in infrastructure, skills and training.
6.Fair corporate tax code - multi-nationals must pay their fair share
7. Help entrepreneurs and small business

Health
We believe in the National Health free at the point of use

1 Additional investment as a matter of urgency
2 we have called for a cross Party commission to look how we can deliver sustainable development for health care in the longer term
3 Belief in healthcare for all both physical and mental health
When in government we ensured additional investment plus the first ever treatment waiting standard for mental health
4. Support to introduce a regulated cannabis market.

The foliage is quite attractive !!

However, like tobacco, the smoking of cannabis is in the atmosphere of a house where babies and children inhale it. People will not be 'careful' because many cigarette smokers are not 'careful' about not smoking in the presence of their children.

And yes, I do know about 'skunk' and can see the argument for as well as those against and no, thinking about all the pros and cons and deciding that no, it is not a good idea to legalise the growing and sale of cannabis is not 'prejudiced'.

Can you see the Maybot doing it?
I don't think Corbyn (sorry - the Messiah wink) has any plans to legalise it for recreational use either but would consider its licensing for medicinal use which seems sensible to me.

My sister in law use to grow it in her cottage garden, her mother visited her and walking in the garden asked , what's this one?, sister in law replied , day scented stock , it was all she could think of quickly !

You are showing your prejudice Jalima. Why, other than because it is your opinion, would this not work and save so many of the people who are currently costing the NHS and their own health with the sort of cannabis that is around at the moment?

Monty Don giving us tips on growing and drying - is soil the best medium or is it better grown hydroponically?

I think the idea is rather potty

I suppose he is no longer a pacifist because as he said about his friends Hamas - with hindsight I was wrong.

Ana Fri 12-May-17 22:13:25

Better give some to Corbyn now he's no longer a pacifist...

daphnedill Fri 12-May-17 21:27:32

Better than dropping bombs on Syria!

Why shouldn't cannabis be legalised? Tobacco and alcohol are legal. It would actually help society to regulate cannabis, rather than turning a blind eye.

durhamjen Fri 12-May-17 21:11:46

Now all you need is for Tim Farron to become PM.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 12-May-17 20:46:36

I would have thought it might be quite attractive to some 60 - 70 year olds and certainly to some for medicinal reasons Ana. It would help to get the really strong stuff off the streets too.

Jalima1108 Fri 12-May-17 20:07:56

And some of the older ones seem to be in favour

Ana Fri 12-May-17 15:52:54

Ooh, I see the LibDems are planning to legalise cannabis in their manifesto! That should get a few of the 18-24s into the ballot box...

The leaked version of the Labour manifesto has confirmed Jeremy Corbyn's Labour won’t give the people the final say on the Brexit deal. This comes after Jeremy Corbyn made clear that Labour believes Britain must leave the EU whatever the agreement reached, in an interview with BBC Look North.

Former Liberal Democrat party president Simon Hughes said: “Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour has waved the white flag and given Theresa May a blank cheque to pursue a divisive Brexit. Now this leaked manifesto confirms they are refusing to give the British people the final say over the Brexit deal, no matter how bad.

A better future is available. The Liberal Democrats will stand up to Theresa May’s cold, mean-spirited Britain and against a bad Brexit deal that will cost jobs and put up prices. We will give you the final say on Brexit – with the option to stay in if you don't like the deal on offer."

Good news for Libdems.

M0nica I will echo your post.

There is nothing else to do about spilt milk but mop it up and carry on.

LibDem policy is to look at the negotiated deal and its consequenses, then ask "deal or no deal?" NOT meaning bad deal or appalling deal (jumping off the cliff to become an offshore tax haven for billionaires and forget everyone else). The choice should be "this deal or stay as we are with all the benefits of being in the EU?"

Theresa May has changed her mind about all sorts of things - IN/OUT, election/no election, various policies which were rubbish when UKIP or Labour proposed them but are now those of a "strong and stable Theresa May Team" manifesto.

If she can change her mind what is wrong with asking those who voted for a pig in a poke to think again when they are finally told what that vote could lead to?

daphnedill Tue 09-May-17 22:43:01

Well said, MOnica. Having said that, I'd be jumping for joy, if a fairy came along and said it had all been a nightmare and the clocks were being turned back a year.

M0nica Tue 09-May-17 22:28:01

I was a remainer, I am a remainer and I will remain - a remainer. Being on the losing side does not mean you have to compromise your principles and pretend you support the insupportable.

However I am not a remoaner and I believe we should make the best of the bad decision that has been made.

GracesGranMK2 Tue 09-May-17 09:18:29

grin I am just saying it as I see it varian.
