Here we go then. I am going to outline all the information I can get hold of without the flim flam and criticism of other parties.

Other folks are more than welcome to join in - but I would ask you keep it as objective as possible without the temptation of trashing the opposition. We can do that on other threads. I always bite off more than I can chew so will appreciate help -cheers!!

This stuff has been kindly donated by another gran whose name escapes me at the moment but I will add it later.

The following can be described as a statement of intent - it isn't the manifesto, so it can be compared to the manifesto when it gets published

Economy/Business
We intend to achieve a growing stable economy

1. Ensure regional growth
2. Embrace new technology
3. Belief in globalisation
4. Live within our means
5. Sensible deficit reduction - but also productive investment in infrastructure, skills and training.
6.Fair corporate tax code - multi-nationals must pay their fair share
7. Help entrepreneurs and small business

Health
We believe in the National Health free at the point of use

1 Additional investment as a matter of urgency
2 we have called for a cross Party commission to look how we can deliver sustainable development for health care in the longer term
3 Belief in healthcare for all both physical and mental health
When in government we ensured additional investment plus the first ever treatment waiting standard for mental health
4. Support to introduce a regulated cannabis market.

If you have not already voted by post, make sure that you vote tomorrow and make your vote count by voting for the Liberal Democrats.

This thread seems to have strayed quite a long way from the question "should you vote Liberal?" (which I take to mean Liberal Democrat)

The answer is YES, of course you should, you know it makes sense .

Lynnieg Tue 06-Jun-17 00:11:19

No not the vibrator thread although it's very funny grin

MaizieD Tue 06-Jun-17 00:03:03

Xpost Jalima pointing out the b***** obvious grin

MaizieD Tue 06-Jun-17 00:01:16

I know of several grandmothers who post on mumsnet. I do it myself from time to time. After all, if you're a gran you must be a mum, too.
As I've said before, you can find some good intelligent stuff on mumsnet (as well as hugely entertaining washing and parking threads...)

Jalima1108 Mon 05-Jun-17 23:59:40

I don't know.

Perhaps GN is advertised on MN - after all grannies are mums too to state the b******' obvious
Or perhaps 2017 is a boom year

But then again not everyone on here is a grandma, grandad or a mum (or dad)

We don't know if Mrs Robinson is on here either

GracesGranMK2 Mon 05-Jun-17 23:54:16

Is a sort of call put out do you think Jelima? I am happy believing they have all just become Grans - why else would they come?

Oh just seen your post Lynnieg. Is Gransnet helping you currently with a problem? (was it the vibrator thread - I haven't laughed so much for years).

Lynnieg Mon 05-Jun-17 23:40:38

There are grandmothers, including myself, on Mumsnet. Different problems are dealt with in different places.

Jalima1108 Mon 05-Jun-17 23:39:50

No, I didn't
It's not really a good interviewing technique in fact, very irritating for the audience.
Better to let someone tie themselves up in knots (whoever they are) then strike with a relevant question.

Jalima1108 Mon 05-Jun-17 23:38:08

It seems to happen from time to time - an influx of Mumsnetters I mean.

Young ideas and opinions are always good
grin

durhamjen Mon 05-Jun-17 23:38:07

Did you watch it, Jalima?
He interrupted rather a lot. I had hoped that as he was on he wouldn't try to take over from Paxman or Neil in the interruption stakes, but he tried hard enough, as varian said.
Perhaps he should think about taking more care of his voice himself. It wasn't necessary to interrupt as much.

Lynnieg Mon 05-Jun-17 23:38:03

I post on both forums, I believe it's allowed?

Jalima1108 Mon 05-Jun-17 23:36:10

I think I have seen Lynnieg posting before.

It came across as unkind djen whatever you think of him but no, I didn't see it so I don't know how much he interrupted. Was he trying to emulate Paxman?

GracesGranMK2 Mon 05-Jun-17 23:34:37

I am just beginning to wonder if we have had a influx of Mumsnetters - if so I wonder why. Perhaps they have all suddenly become granssmile

durhamjen Mon 05-Jun-17 23:34:01

His voice was going. Did you watch it? He sounded as if he had a sore throat. I didn't say I hoped he would lose his voice. It didn't stop him interrupting, did it?
I know he's had cancer. I don't think he needs your approval or I need your condemnation.

I don't know anything about Mumsnet, so that was wasted on me.

GracesGranMK2 Mon 05-Jun-17 23:33:32

Who are you Lynnieg - have you been on here long?

Jalima1108 Mon 05-Jun-17 23:29:27

I was hoping his voice would go so he couldn't interrupt so much.
djen
shock

Lynnieg Mon 05-Jun-17 23:25:12

I'm sorry? You have just said that you hoped that Nick Robinson, a man who has had a bronchial cancer, would lose his voice? Something that he has regained through hard work and therapy?
You really are more vicious than Mumsnet.

durhamjen Mon 05-Jun-17 23:15:50

I watched it. I was hoping his voice would go so he couldn't interrupt so much.

I can't understand why everyone has to be questioned separately just because May refuses to debate properly. It's giving her the advantage, and saying that she is more important than the others.
People should be asked the same questions.

Did anyone watch the election leaders programme tonight. As expected Nick Robertson was as snidey as expected from a tory, but Tim Farron came over very well.

varian Mon 05-Jun-17 14:58:58

The Question time election special programme which was scheduled for yesterday is on tonight at 9pm on BBC1.

Tim Farron and Nicola Sturgeon will be seperately questioned by an audience in Edinburgh. I wonder how balanced the audience will be.

It is to be chaired by another well known Tory, Nick Robinson. I wonder whether he will even pretend to uphold the BBC's claim of impartiality.

MaizieD Sun 04-Jun-17 23:05:08

Unfortunately it could let in the Tory where I live

OMG. Is it that serious, dj? I'd seen it mentioned briefly a while ago but haven't seen anything about it since.

Have you got a useful link? wink

durhamjen Sun 04-Jun-17 22:54:40

'The sale of weapons to countries like Israel and Saudi Arabia where there is a risk they would be used in internal repression or in committing human rights violations, and whether you would support arms embargoes where there is such a risk?

We believe that the UK's current arms export control system should be tightened so that it is even more robust and transparent. We will introduce a "presumption of denial" of arms sales applications to countries with human rights concerns, introduce a new law to create a register of arms dealers in Britain, allowing better scrutiny of these secretive deals and introduce end-user certification which would certify that the buyer of arms would not sell them on to another country.

Liberal Democrats have been campaigning tirelessly for the Government to halt the sale of arms to Saudi Arabia in response to the Saudi coalition's clear breaches of International Humanitarian Law, which include the deliberate targeting of civilians. The UK must do more to ensure that the crisis is given a higher priority on the global agenda by the international community.'

From the Libdem candidate, and possibly a good reason to vote for him.
Unfortunately it could let in the Tory where I live, and I don't want to do that. I am sure you don't want me to, either, varian.

Tim Farron's webchat yesterday on Mumsnet went very well. He seemed to have done better than Jeremy Corbyn.

But what about Theresa May?

You may well ask. Does she have anything to say to Mumsnetters? Is she afraid of their questions? Possibly they're not all Tory voters so safer to ignore them.

Vince Cable has said that the Liberal Democrats are “the real party of business”, because the hard Brexit plans of both Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn would wreck the economy.

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-election-2017-lib-dems-business-labour-tories-hard-exit-eu-a7767801.html

Both TM and JC have been spineless over brexit, ignoring the damage it will cause to the British economy and caving in to the leavers, in total contradiction to their professed wishes to remain in the EU.

We cannot support or respect such spineless politicians. We must show them by voting Liberal Democrat that some of us have principles and still believe what we said we believed a year ago.
