Anyone got any information we can put onto this thread please?

MaizieD Sun 14-May-17 21:13:39

It's got nothing to do with Juncker, either.

You're having a laugh really, aren't you? wink

Jalima1108 Sun 14-May-17 21:06:10

touch!

Jalima1108 Sun 14-May-17 21:05:54

Quite

Juncker is obviously not in tuoch with the hoi polloi

MaizieD Sun 14-May-17 21:04:16

The Eurovision has nothing to do with the EU. No reason to drop English.

FarNorth Sun 14-May-17 21:00:25

varian said "they do not seem to have taken account of the huge amount of coverage that the SNP gets in Scotland".

They also haven't taken account of the enormous amount of coverage given to Ruth Davidson in Scotland.

Apparently the Scottish Conservatives are about to bring out a manifesto, despite having no power to do anything at Westminster without Theresa May's say-so.

It was very interesting, though, to note that the language of Eurovision was mainly English, commentary in English and many of the songs, despite what Mr Juncker said about it 'losing its importance'.

(we only came in at the end, I hasten to add, to see the scores on the doors.)

Just noticed that a Tory councillor has been suspended for saying something racist to the Irish about Eurovision last night.
Shame he wasn't standing for election in June.

I'm having to drink red as no white left, so I make it into a spritzer as well, Gracesgran.
Cheers.

varian Sun 14-May-17 19:11:29

You have a right to be angry GG - wine or no wine.

GracesGranMK2 Sun 14-May-17 18:43:58

I'm afraid my 'imbibing' is more in spirit than in actuality as I am only allowed one small glass a couple of times a week, which I then make into a couple or three spritzers but it makes me feel like I have ended the day in a good way. Busy day is a very reasonable reasongrin

Jalima1108 Sun 14-May-17 18:39:01

smile I'm sure there must be something else GracesgranMK2

I have had a very busy day (that's my excuse)

GracesGranMK2 Sun 14-May-17 18:37:09

It is nice to have something we can agree about though Jalima.

rosesarered Sun 14-May-17 18:34:03

I don't think you are the only one imbibing this evening Jalima grin

Jalima1108 Sun 14-May-17 18:31:25

sorry, this is not the diet or 'naturally slim' thread blush

Jalima1108 Sun 14-May-17 18:28:16

Someone posted that we should eat (or drink?) mostly plants, as a grape is from a plant and wine is from grapes (well, there are other types of wine) then wine is OK surely?

smile
Cheers, mine's a white wine this evening

GracesGranMK2 Sun 14-May-17 18:14:20

I will admit to the odd glass of wine or two!!!!

I am glad to see I am in good company whitewavesmile

Roses,
*The Conservatives have pulled us back from the brink ( remember that financial crash of not too long ago?)
UNTRUE
*and have got almost full employment for our country.
DISTORTED AND UNTRUE
*Now there are the negotiations with the EU to come with the importance of trying to keep as many firms/financial institutions here as possible.
COMPLETELY UNTRUE MAY JUST SHOUTS AT THEM
*We need a Party in power that can do all that, one that won't alienate big business with swingeing corporation taxes.
WE NEED A PARTY IN POWER WE CAN BELIEVE. IF YOU BELIEVE MAY MEANS WHAT SHE SAYS ...
*Labour under Corbyn will pursue an all Socialist Agenda to the detriment of all else.
SO WHAT IS WRONG WITH CARING FOR THE DISABLED, POOR AND SICK? WOULDN'T IT BE BETTER IF THE CONS DID THAT INSTEAD OF THROWING THEM TO THE WOLVES
*He couldn't be trusted with defence ( what defence!) or the economy.
THE LABOUR PARTY WILL USE NUCLEAR WEAPONS AS A LAST DEFENCE - WHAT DO THINK THE CONS WILL DO?
*As ab mentioned, the manifesto promises everything bar a free puppy.
PETTY RUBBISH
*We don't know as yet what the Conservative manifesto will have in it, but hopefully Some good policies without damaging what has so far been achieved.
IT WILL SAY NOTHING THEY CAN BE HELD TO THAT REALLY MATTERS
*Brexit does take centre stage, whatever people think, and it could be a difficult time.
WHATEVER PEOPLE THINK WE SHOULD BE VOTING FOR A GOVERNMENT FOR ALL THE PEOPLE NOT JUST FOR THE THIRD THAT VOTED FOR BREXIT. WHY ARE THEY MORE IMPORTANT?
*Domestic policies will I hope be fair ones, plenty of house building, including social housing,
THEY HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING OF THE SORT SO FAR SO WHY SHOULD ANYONE BELIEVE THEY WOULD.
*and keeping corporation taxes at much the same rate for business because we need to hold onto them.
WE ALSO NEED TO KEEP OUR PEOPLE ALIVE AND THAT SHOULD COME BEFORE MAKING OTHERS DISGUSTINGLY RICH.

YOU FORGOT THE FOXES.

whitewave Sun 14-May-17 18:12:32

confused I will admit to the odd glass of wine or two!!!!Q blush

durhamjen Sun 14-May-17 18:02:56

Not doing very well there, whitewave.
Isn't that a nut?

whitewave Sun 14-May-17 18:01:10

And "academic" grin

durhamjen Sun 14-May-17 17:49:44

I like the fact that they say Jeremy Hunt had as much coverage as Amber Rudd!
I presume they count negative as well as positive.

whitewave Sun 14-May-17 17:39:20

Outrageous!!

whitewave Sun 14-May-17 17:39:01

I think it is outrages and as a result I get so depressed listening, that I have given up altogether.

It is so bad and so obvious that you don't need an acedamic analysis.

varian Sun 14-May-17 17:34:28

Loughborough University Media Centre has analysed the coverage of the party leaders in the first week of the campaign in the press and TV. It is hardly a level playing field.

Theresa May got 50% more coverage than Jeremy Corbyn and five times as much as Tim Farron. UKIP, the Green Party, SNP and others did even worse. (But as they looked at UK wide coverage, they do not seem to have taken account of the huge amount of coverage that the SNP gets in Scotland)

It is also pretty clear that most of the coverage TM gets, especially in the right wing press will be positive, unlike all the other party leaders.

durhamjen Sun 14-May-17 16:18:12

This is what the Tories have done to GPs in the NHS.

It will get worse if you vote for them.
