Anyone got any information we can put onto this thread please?

durhamjen Sun 30-Apr-17 19:34:57

Okay, so you don't care about electoral regulations. Why does that not surprise me?

Another good reason not to vote Tory. That party doesn't either.

John McDonnell

Been out all day on the campaign trail in Mansfield. Can someone please explain to me why our Prime Minister is hiding in a forest?

Ana Sun 30-Apr-17 19:32:14

OFGS!

Get over yourself.

durhamjen Sun 30-Apr-17 19:30:30

You don't understand, roses. Or you wilfully miisunderstand.
Electioneering cannot be booked as a birthday party, nad the electorate cannot be banned from the birthday party.
It really is against the rules of electioneering, and should be reported to the Electoral Commisssion.
As the Tory party is still being investigated for expenses fraud from the last election, you'd think May would know better.

Ana Sun 30-Apr-17 19:24:16

Shouldn't you be on the Labour thread, telling us all about what Corbyn's been doing? I'm sure it would be so...interesting.

If chat about politics has already descended into outrage (!!) over where leaders choose to meet ( calling a village hall a shed etc) then not much hope as we have 5 weeks to go.grin

durhamjen Sun 30-Apr-17 19:20:42

The problem is she was supposed to be doing something, like meeting the constituents.

rosesarered Sun 30-Apr-17 19:16:35

Much ado about nothing!

About May's party in a shed.
It's a bit like having a meeting in a factory after all the workers have gone home, and not telling them the meeting is on.

Mcem, they've lost a few votes because the locals weren't invited.

mcem Sun 30-Apr-17 19:07:32

Given that Crathes is on the edge of the Queen's Balmoral estate I'd expect the Tories to gain a few votes there.

I admired Ruth Davidson's debating abilities and reasonable demeanour in previous debates although I didn't agree with her policies.

Didn't recognise or like the chummy sycophancy I saw from her in that conversation.

thatbags Sun 30-Apr-17 19:03:06

There was a media picture of her and Ruth D and one or two others on a street in a town. Anyway, what's wrong with encouraging the clan, so to speak? People who will go out and fire up others who've given up on politics because of Thatcher and then the Labour disasters.

rosesarered Sun 30-Apr-17 19:01:50

Oh it's a shed now not a village hall.grin

trisher Sun 30-Apr-17 18:59:48

Maybe she is, maybe the Conservatives will win some seats in Scotland. It's still funny that a UK prime minister was too scared to campaign on the streets of Aberdeen but chose a private party in a shed in the woods instead.

rosesarered Sun 30-Apr-17 18:57:30

Yes, she is, they should clone a few more of her.smile

thatbags Sun 30-Apr-17 18:55:28

I tweeted to the guy who posted that and told him his post was London-centric. It isn't a forest. It's small patch of woodland and she was a few metres into it. Not everyone lives in a town.

And I get her (and Ruth Davidson's) thinking: it's worth pursuing a Tory vote in Scotland because if a few get elected, the SNP cannot claim to be the voice of all of Scotland, which they aren't anyway. And Labour is a dead horse up here. All governments need a credible opposition.
Anyway, I think they reckon they're more likely to get some Tory votes from people living in the countryside than from those in cities.

Ruth Davidson is impressive.

'Telling lies' 'Against the rules' - goodness it's back to the schoolyard again...

durhamjen Sun 30-Apr-17 18:51:27

What was worse, FarNorth, is that the meeting was invitation only, and was booked as a birthday party. No locals allowed in.
Tory party telling lies again. It was against the rules.

Smoked Salmon & Cucumber sandwiches. That's going to rile the hair shirt brigade.

rosesarered Sun 30-Apr-17 18:49:03

So?
She was in a village hall near Aberdeen ( it has a bunker does it? )

Ana Sun 30-Apr-17 18:48:53

Is that funny?

FarNorth Sun 30-Apr-17 18:44:22

.

rosesarered Sun 30-Apr-17 18:39:25

Yes, of course the implication was that you had a glass too many harrigran and a very rude comment it was too!

harrigran Sun 30-Apr-17 18:29:11

Not sure what you mean GG, are you implying I am drunk ? I do not imbibe but yes I did have a nice lunch of smoked salmon and cucumber sandwiches.

durhamjen Sun 30-Apr-17 17:24:17

I thought you prided yourself on not attacking the person, bags.

That was brilliant, Granny23. Goes very well with this.
