What can TM be thinking of?

Sigh and double sigh.

Not content with taking us into an undemocratic referendum when we are all asked to vote on something where no-one could have a clear picture of the options, the conservatives now have a leader who stands and loudly slags off those with whom we need to negotiate for the secure future of the country. All thoroughly irresponsible - it just makes me want to despair.

Ukip have decided not to stand against Boris.

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 23:01:31

Half decent replacements would need a coalition, daphne.

stillaliveandkicking Thu 04-May-17 23:00:34

Im glad you're getting your information from the "german papers" as they must be so accurate at the moment grin

daphnedill Thu 04-May-17 22:59:22

I keep hoping that if May wins by a landslide that she'll sack the lot of them and find some half-decent replacements, but I'm not holding my breath.

daphnedill Thu 04-May-17 22:57:44

The German papers are spot on.

Davis - incompetent
Boris - embarrassing buffoon
Fox - fraudster (where is he anyway?)

stillaliveandkicking Thu 04-May-17 22:55:53

grin Yeah of course she is. That's why most of England will vote for her in the election, we like her due to being weak.

daphnedill Thu 04-May-17 22:54:42

True colours? Yes, they're being diplomatic and not whinging "victims". Has May been given a copy of Farage's handbook? grin

daphnedill Thu 04-May-17 22:52:59

May is a weak leader. She can't even get her own chancellor's budget through parliament or face the plebs in public.

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 22:52:55

The Tories will be wishing they hadn't started this.

May wasn't elected to anything, apart from MP for Maidenhead.

The PM's role is not just to negotiate Brexit.

There's precious little democratic about May.

Bloody foreigners!

MaizieD Thu 04-May-17 22:47:29

And she wasn't elected to the post of PM at all. She got the post by default because all the other very poor candidates dropped out.

MaizieD Thu 04-May-17 22:45:03

I voted to get out of the EU and she's delivering.

Just such a shame that she's bent on destroying the UK's democratic institutions and public services in the process.

And so far on Brexit she's delivered very little beyond antagonising the EU that she claimed she wanted a close and special relationship with.

stillaliveandkicking Thu 04-May-17 22:43:31

May has done what she was elected to do. The democracy that she live in has chosen to get out of the EU and May will do that as leader of such a "democracy" That's what it means to be part of one.

Why are you choosing to be such a naysayer yet again jen.

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 22:40:29

When and why did May move from wanting to remain to wanting a hard Brexit?

stillaliveandkicking Thu 04-May-17 22:39:34

The supposed "diplomatic" leaders of the EU are however showing their true colours.

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 22:39:13

I thought you were Ukip, saaki.

POGS Thu 04-May-17 22:38:38

When and why did the Lib Dems move from wanting a referendum in 2008 to being unable to accept the result of one in 2016?

stillaliveandkicking Thu 04-May-17 22:37:55

In my view I have no idea what you are on about OP. Theresa May has done nothing but show how strong she is in leadership. I voted to get out of the EU and she's delivering.

POGS Thu 04-May-17 22:32:28

"In theory Keir Starmer might be OK but he's only been an MP for 2 years."

Keir Starmer made his speech which laid out Labours position on how they would negotiate Brexit, what Labour want to happen. He was made a laughing stock like Dianne Abbot , they both talked rubbish.

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 22:29:49

Trisher, I have heard that if she gets a big enough majority, she will get rid of Boris. Even she knows what a liability he is now. She also knows by now that she needs to get rid of Davis. Can't remember the last time I heard Liam Fox say anything.

However, I do agree with daphne.
If you want to stop her becoming more of a dictator than she already is, you should vote tactically.

daphnedill Thu 04-May-17 21:21:52

I have no doubt she will be returned. Anybody who wants to keep her majority to a minimum should do what they can. It really isn't a joke.

trisher Thu 04-May-17 20:59:40

May was a terrible Home Secretary and has presided over a number of government gaffes since she became PM. The chances of her negotiating successfully with the EU are very slight. The EU has set out perfectly reasonable concerns including the protection of citizens and borders. If she gets in TM will mess up the whole thing with the assistance of her FS Boris. If it wasn't so vitally important it would be a great joke.

Jalima1108 Thu 04-May-17 20:56:43

But - Merkel is just the leader of one country in the EU out of 28 27 member states. She is not the leader of the EU although sometimes it would appear to be the case.

sunseeker Thu 04-May-17 20:45:57

Apparently Le Pen has said that one way or another France will have a woman running it, either her or Merkel!
