That's a bum, can anyone cut and paste or something the manifesto that took me blood sweat and tears to do this morning please!!!???

angelab Mon 22-May-17 13:32:05

costing

angelab Mon 22-May-17 13:31:52

Come on Annie, at least they've made a stab at cosing - Tories haven't even done that

Anniebach Mon 22-May-17 13:12:09

No fees come September for new students

No fees for those who have started their studies

All this to be paid before September ,how?

Ana Mon 22-May-17 13:00:36

Well, do explain whitewave, as you're so knowledgeable on the subject.

whitewave Mon 22-May-17 12:57:16

None So blind

It would seem that Labours promises are costed via huge amounts of borrowing together with ensuring that as many businesses as possible either go down, leave the country, or cut staff to an absolute minimum.

Anniebach Mon 22-May-17 12:37:36

Sorry X post Ana .

Have all free school meals , free music lessons etc been costed ?

Free university places this year, where will this come from? Will universities wait untill the taxes of the wealthy few have been paid ?

Ana Mon 22-May-17 12:33:53

Snap!

Anniebach Mon 22-May-17 12:32:49

Costed perhaps , so much borrowing

Ana Mon 22-May-17 12:32:37

If by 'costed' you mean funded by borrowing, yes I can believe that of the Labour Party policies.

sunseeker Mon 22-May-17 12:27:42

angelab I agree the arts are important but should they not be considered a "luxury". If your household budget is strained you would concentrate on the essentials and would only pay for luxuries when things improved.

angelab Mon 22-May-17 12:24:45

sunseeker I agree with you up to a point, but my DD got a first in English literature and is hoping for a career in film production which will involve doing an MA. The arts are important too!!

whitewave Mon 22-May-17 12:11:37

It is odd that individuals persist in the myth that Labours policies are uncosted.

It is the TORIES whose policies are uncosted.

sunseeker Mon 22-May-17 12:10:24

How about doing away with university fees for those taking courses which are beneficial to the country, medicine, science, engineering (I know there are many others) but charging fees for courses such as film, theatre, history of art etc.

Anniebach Mon 22-May-17 11:51:14

And how many of these businesses will leave the country .

This labour manifesto is definitely Land of Oz

Waiting for - those payIng rent will have their rent paid

gillybob Mon 22-May-17 11:42:40

JC seems to be trying to please everyone by giving things away like a man possessed.

Where is all of this damned money going to come from? It can only be one of a handful of things;

Massive borrowing (leaving our DC and DGC saddled with national debts for ever)
Raising taxes/ VAT etc. (despite promising otherwise).
Hammering businesses to the point of extinction. JC hates business (they tend not to be members of Unite)

gillybob Mon 22-May-17 11:39:08

Promise everything and when it proves impossible to deliver it all, just say "Oh we'll have to put up taxes/VAT/our borrowing" to pay for it.

My biggest fear too Elegran

My DD has student loans from a few years ago. This is a debt that she will probably be saddled with for life. Having said that, she does not use the degree she got and probably should never have gone to uni at all. What we don't need is a massive rise in young people going to university courtesy of the tax payer taking degrees that are neither use nor ornament.

Ana Mon 22-May-17 11:39:07

Don't read right wing rags whitewave.

whitewave Mon 22-May-17 11:36:12

Polls closing - just watch the right wing rags go into overdrive trashing Corbyn

Elegran Mon 22-May-17 11:31:58

It must mean that. They could support them by saying, "Arts and Music are good", until they were blue in the face without doing any good.

Promise everything and when it proves impossible to deliver it all, just say "Oh we'll have to put up taxes/VAT/our borrowing" to pay for it.

Anniebach Mon 22-May-17 11:29:52

This is my problem, I said recently I was supporting Welsh Labour, Jen told me there was just labour atcwestminster and I should deal with it.

So I vote labour and my granddaughter still pays university fees because she doesn't live in England.

The many not the few I suppose

Anniebach Mon 22-May-17 11:25:48

Now they are going to support arts, music and film, does this mean give money?

Anniebach Mon 22-May-17 11:24:39

Is Corbyn ever going into Tory held constituencies to csmpaign?

Ana Mon 22-May-17 11:24:32

Well, there will certainly be more rushing to apply now!

Anniebach Mon 22-May-17 11:21:39

How many go to university in England and how many leave education at eighteen? Anyone know ?
