On the other hand, I hope it's not up to them!
Strictly after Claudia ...........
We oldies need to admit we got it wrong about leaving the eu, we are putting our young family members future at risk. Unity is now priority
The deep concerns by commerce, industry & farmers on our economy and hard times ahead should not be lightly dismissed.
The horrors of this week have highlighted the need for much closer unity with our neighbours in Europe. We cannot gamble on a hard Brexit to resolve differences, we need to stop and rethink how we can resolve our differences without the extremism of Brexit. Is it too late or can we save ourselves from a possible disaster? To do otherwise could be taking a gamble we just cannot afford to take on our young families future.
I am not prepared to leave it to Teresa May and trust her hard Brexit colleagues. Therefore I shall not vote for her type of Brexit.
On the other hand, I hope it's not up to them!
I do hope they choose a different date.
The new NHS scheme came in on April Fools Day. Look what fools they made of us about our health service.
What about the service sector?
Forward to 1/4/19 and the City has been dreading this day. They have tried to mitigate the disaster by shedding as many low paid and Middle paid jobs in the U.K. And moving them to lower paying countries in the EU.
They are desperate to retain their "passports". In order to do so they have to prove to the EU financial authorities, that they have a significant presence in the EU.
The EU financial authorities seem in no rush to push these applications through, some banks/ financial companies do not get their passport in time for the deadline, and so are unable to trade with their previous EU customers. These customers seek financial service elsewhere and we watch as the financial services capacity is cut by 10% with the loss of thousands more jobs and £12bn revenue.
Do deal is better than a bad deal is beginning to look decidedly shaky.
Tariffs now loom large.
Cars 10%. Electronic goods will be badly affected as will warships and commercial liners. British cigarettes which are nearly all sold in Europe will have a tariff of 57% slapped on them.
Aerospace industry will be hit.
Shares in all these industries will plummet because their costs will rocket and their unit price rise, with no extra income.
All this delay means that businesses start to haemorrhage cash.
Goods coming into the U.K. Will be stopped as well.
"Proof of country of Origin" (remember that?) will have to be re-introduced in order to ensure the correct tariffs are paid. This is an incredible onerous and detailed process. Each stage of production has to be accounted for and correct paperwork produced.
It is estimated that in the first year "proof of country of origin" will cost the U.K. £25bn. By 2030 it will lead to a drop of 4-5% GDP.
The problem is not restricted to goods heading to Europe.
The EU has mutual recognition agreements with Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand and USA, mimicking the bureaucratic free trade with the Continent. Up until yesterday, British goods sold to these countries have been verified by the EU accreditation. Now all will be stopped, sampled and checked.
So for goods detained and waiting entry, perhaps it won't be such a bad thing as the bottleneck begins to stretch along the M20, but for foodstuffs like any animal products, the more is severe, as they can only enter Europe through specially designated inspection points. None exist at the moment between the UK and Europe. Westminster demand that the EU set up these immediately, but they have little leverage with Europe after the disastrous talks. Food starts to rot. The British food export collapses over night.
Every single movement between the UK and the EU will have to be checked for paperwork and content. Every single lorry will be stopped by Customs.
Up until yesterday, 31/3/19 - we enjoyed a seamless trading relationship with the EU. All standards and paperwork were recognised bybEirope and visa-versa.
Lorries will be stopped and goods sampling carried out. Everything will have to be assessed. This will take several days during which time the lorry will be barred from entering the European market place.
I see May in her "re-launch" is still trying to sound strong by continuing with the mantra "No deal is better than a bad deal"
So I wondered what that actually meant in practice as May does not seem able to expand on exactly what that would mean for us all in the UK.
(Did a bit of reading and most of the following is taken from a book by Ian Dunc. I have mentioned him before)
Let's go forward to
01/04/19
The Brexit talks have been a disaster and Britain finds itself out of the EU on 1/4/19, without securing continued membership of the single market, it does not even have access. Britain is also out of the treaty which waives tax on imports and exports.
We have no trade deals with Europe or anyone else. We are on our own.
Also surely the Manchester bombing was born here
We don't need to leave the EU to limit immigration from countries, who allegedly "want to kill us".
Interesting that people want to limit immigration from non-EU countries rather than EU countries. The UK has always been in control of the numbers from non-EU countries!

On www.wemove.eu there is a survey about what you want from the Brexit negotiations, in case anyone wants to fill it in.
Oh, perleeeaase! We always did govern ourselves. May's article 50 white paper even said that.
MaizieD I suggest you read the decision in
R (Factortame Ltd) v Secretary of State for Transport
"23,000 that want to kill us for a start."
Bit of an exaggeration. That is just the number assumed to be on MI5's list, it includes Animal rights people and half the Labour party:-)
I see security chiefs as well as people like that well known Tory Dominic Grieve is strongly advising May to keep "crucial" links with the EU.
There must be continued full participation in European Union security and intelligence cooperation in the critical fight against terrorism after Brexit.
Even if this means accepting or continuing with EU rules and judicial oversight for the ECJ. This couldn't be more crucial.
This will be hard fought be the loony right of course who will risk anything including our lives in order to have a complete break.
What a shame, then, that the Tories have been busy cutting the services which might have helped to protect us
But you do seem to scare easily, Luckylegs
Are you serious, we are in this position because of free movement, we don't know who's here, well we do, 23,000 that want to kill us for a start.
Another problem for Mayhem's Brexit policy, and no deal is better than a bad deal.

I'm afraid I don't find May at all amusing, roses.
Ambition, ninny.
Something I read recently said that she'd been after the top job for a number of years. She likes to be in control.
I think they are just amusing themselves ninny not a serious topic.
What rubbish some of you post on here if she called this election to lose why did she bother becoming PM in the first place.
Being PM is a poisoned chalice at the best of times....and this isn't the best of times.
Still, they are all eager for the job, whichever party they represent.
Hope Corbyn's up for to it. Perhaps rather more than he'd bargained for?
