I am seriously getting worried, that that joke Corbyn might end up running he country, which will within months, put a new social policy in place to be paid for by the ones that work, and on their knees knees already, borrowing money, left right and centre, so that llike every labour government in history leave us in massive debts that will increase until, once again the country votes conservative to sort it all out. I probably won't be here it see that happen. I notuce the frugal life style Blair had, an example to all labour voters. He and his very rich family did very well out of it, pity the country didn't, particularly those youngsters sent to Iraq.

Which post of mine are you answering Iam64 ? Which particular point?

rosesarered Sat 03-Jun-17 11:45:28

Mawbroon a good question and the only answer is that yes, they do know him
Which is all I need to know!

Iam64 Sat 03-Jun-17 11:42:29

It won't be a land of bread and honey whoever wins this election roses. However I do believe that the conservatives will continue to devastate all public services, particularly the NHS if they are re-elected. I sill have concerns about Jeremy Corbyn and the people he surrounds himself with. Despite this, he and Labour have a manifesto that is much more appropriate for this country than anything the tories say is best. Best for the few, not the many.
Jeremy is also presenting himself in a more convincing manner than Theresa May. I doubt the LP will win the election but I hope I'm proved wrong.

Anniebach Sat 03-Jun-17 11:41:47

MawBroon, I could tell you but why stir up the Corbynites even more.

Anniebach Sat 03-Jun-17 11:40:19

Was thousands more police in the labour manifesto, yes I should look but it's too depressing to read.

MawBroon Sat 03-Jun-17 11:33:48

At the risk of being contentious and in no way expressing a personal opinion, WHY is it that Corbyn's popularity in the country is net reflected in his parliamentary party?
Genuine question. How can so many Labour MPs have got it wrong, surely they know him best?

daphnedill Sat 03-Jun-17 11:27:36

Celia If your post is addressed to me, you're preaching to the converted. I'm 100% for renationalisation of the railways.

GracesGranMK2 Sat 03-Jun-17 11:04:25

I think hoping that we will begin to build the economy so everyone benefits is far from a wild promise. I am sorry for those of you who have decided you prefer the continuation of an austerity that attacks the poor and less able and makes the rich richer. What this election has shown is that this is not the only or even the right answer nearly TEN years after the global financial crisis.

May is just trying to keep the Brexit vote now as she is very insecure when it comes to talking about what she and her party have done over the last seven years.

Corbyn has showed who he really is rather than the caricature that the journalist were allowed to get away with painting.

sad

durhamjen Sat 03-Jun-17 10:58:25

I think the saddest thing of all is Annie not being prepared to support Labour.

Annie, what is wrong with saying McDonald is a solicitor?
It's a fact. He also knows about the law. He used to work on personal injury tribunals to get workers their rights. Is that not important?

yggdrasil Sat 03-Jun-17 10:32:28

Annie said "The saddest thing of all is giving people hope with wild promises and whipping up hysteria in some people. Seems next Friday will be Christmas Day and birthday in one."

I don't have that much hope. It has been fantastic to see what happens when the two parties are allowed/made to state what their policies are. But there are too many who have already sent off a postal vote, and too many like Annie who can't see the benefit of ending austerity for their dislike of the Labour leader.
A hung parliament would be the best there could be, but I think the media have already done too much damage.sad

GracesGranMK2 Sat 03-Jun-17 10:29:32

I do wish there was a 'like' button or an 'I agree and thank you for saying it' button on her. I would have pressed it for your post Celia.

Daphnedill: The railways in almost all the other European countries are owned and run by the state. They run efficently and much more cheaply than UK railways. Many of the UK's railways now belong to these countries because the have bought the franchises. The can charge us higher prices so they can subsidise their own railways. A lot of the UK's railways already are state run - just not by the UK state. They are owned by Italy France, Germany and the Netherlands. You don't have to just take my word for it. Google 'who owns the UK's railways?' and you will see.

GracesGranMK2 Sat 03-Jun-17 10:27:07

I'm afraid you're right whitewave, but doesn't it leave you feeling sad that these things are done by our fellow countrymen and women. We have such a divided society.

What is Corbyn saying that they dislike. I will do all I can not to kill innocents and to bring about peace.

whitewave Sat 03-Jun-17 10:23:42

The Evil Tories can't be trusted

GracesGranMK2 Sat 03-Jun-17 10:21:02

There is a report in the Telegraph today which suggest that the Conservative Party are going to make a guarantee to high earners that there will be no increase in income tax.

More looking after the rich and attacking the poor and less able then. No surprise there. I wonder, if they do make this promise, why it wasn't in the manifesto - but then, what was other than attacking pensioners?

Anniebach Sat 03-Jun-17 10:13:00

What does being a solicitor have to do with it? You have much faith in solicitors Jen

durhamjen Sat 03-Jun-17 10:09:58

Andy McDonald is a very good labour MP for Middlesborough. He was the shadow secretary of state for transport, and will come in very useful when Labour get elected.
He is also a solicitor.

whitewave Sat 03-Jun-17 10:03:12

annie exactly where will the NHS be?

Anniebach Sat 03-Jun-17 10:01:30

And there will always be the sick and dying, what of those five years from now?

Anniebach Sat 03-Jun-17 09:59:15

True Whitewave, and this will be good for us, but come the election to follow this our grandchildren will suffer under years and years of Tory rule.

Think how voters turned against the Libs because of one broken promise, same will happen to labour.

daphnedill Sat 03-Jun-17 09:57:38

There is a consensus (from people across the political spectrum) that privatisation of the railways has led to higher prices and a worse service. The nature of rail travel means that markets can never provide a good solution.

daphnedill Sat 03-Jun-17 09:52:54

Yes, I know they do roses, but it still doesn't mean that learning disabilities and mental health are the same. TM certainly didn't know the difference, nor that learning disability is not routinely funded by the NHS. Responsibility for learning disability was transferred from the NHS to local authorities a few years ago and many NHS units were closed.

whitewave Sat 03-Jun-17 09:52:43

annie well I am sure as hell it won't be an evil Tory Government, and that is what I want for the poor, the disabled, the sick and dying- because all of those people have been and will continue to be disastrously affected by the evil Tories.

Anniebach Sat 03-Jun-17 09:48:43

Trisher, nationalisation is not a principle of mine,

I am able to accept we cannot live in the 21st century but cling to the 19th century

All this jam today, tomorrow and everyday for all is not possible , you think it is, fair enough .
