I am seriously getting worried, that that joke Corbyn might end up running he country, which will within months, put a new social policy in place to be paid for by the ones that work, and on their knees knees already, borrowing money, left right and centre, so that llike every labour government in history leave us in massive debts that will increase until, once again the country votes conservative to sort it all out. I probably won't be here it see that happen. I notuce the frugal life style Blair had, an example to all labour voters. He and his very rich family did very well out of it, pity the country didn't, particularly those youngsters sent to Iraq.

Hopefully she will not be voted in.
May promises that she will lead a government for all.
Isn't that a promise she can't keep? In fact she does not want to keep it. Robbing schools, robbing us of the NHS, stealing benefits from people who have little money anyway and end up having to go to foodbanks.
That's okay, is it?
There's nothing wrong with wanting the young to vote durhamjen but it's wrong to encourage anyone to vote for a party which is making promises that it can't possibly keep.
And no, I didn't get free university education. I got my degree with the OU, paid for in blood, sweat (when I was taking the exams) and tears (when I struggled with some of the course work).
When women can go back to work because of free childcare, don't they become hard working tax payers?
Particularly when they are paid a £10 an hour minimum living wage?
And what's wrong with wanting the young to vote for you? Their votes are just as valuable as ours. Lots of us had free university education, including you, I would think.
But when you made your point mcem, you failed to mention GB but were quick to talk about hypocrisy. I've no doubt Corbyn will wait until after the election before the words 'quantitative easing' pass his lips.
Has Labour dropped their QE plans?
What skills are you referring too trisher? University education provides degrees, apprenticeships provide skills. In the days when grants were available, far fewer attended university because those selected for grants were carefully chosen. There were fewer universities too. What's going to happen to all of the 'new' universities upgraded from college status and the staff they employ when tuition fees are eradicated and without tuition fees, there's no money to finance them?
I agree that free childcare encourages women back into the workplace, but where on earth is this money going to come from? Why should hard working tax payers pay for everyone, regardless of their income, to have free child care?
It was only a few days ago we were hearing that people were up in arms about having to contribute toward their care in old age, why is everyone having to contribute toward the cost of a university education and child care out of their hard earned taxes any different.
Oh I know why, Labour is after the younger voters who may wish to attend university and will more than likely within the life time of a labour gov. want free child care.
BUT where's the money coming from. Good grief, even Corbyn can't find the figures he needs!!!
Admittedly GB introduced QE and Osborne used it. B of E reintroduced it in August post referendum.
My point still stands. If Corbyn proposes it now he'll be slated.
The whole tuition fees thing is smoke and mirrors Smileless they were brought in along wth loans to give the appearance that students were paying for something many considered a privilege. Unfortunately the whole system failed to do what was predicted. The debt is being repaid at such a slow rate that it is toxic and the costs of it are beginning to almost match what it would have cost to provide grants. As we also have a skill shortage it makes perfect sense to cut down student debt by abolishing tuition fees and encourage more people to go to Uni.
There has always been an idea that spending on capital programmes boosts the economy and indeed in the 1920s and 30s a number of government schemes did this and provided work for poor people. The Tyne Bridge in Newcastle, built 1928 was one of those schemes.
Providing free childcare encourages women back into the workplace s they are economically active and provides more jobs n the care sector (one of the biggest contributors to the economy)
So you contradict yourself do you not? You implied there was a poster you were reminded of!
If it makes life better for you to think that I suppose that's fine POGS but, as you quoted that I said it was beginning to seem very FAMILIAR I am not sure how you make the leap to me saying (I didn't) that I was REMINDED of someone. In my world those two things are not the same.
Ooops mcmem I think you'll find that quantitative easing was Gordon Brown's thing.
"PM Gordon Brown gave his backing on Monday to Central Banks programme of pumping money into the economy (quantitative easing) to help pull Britain out of recession.
The Bank of England has cut interest rates to a historic low of 0.5 per cent and embarked on an unprecedented 175 billion pound programme of quantitative easing creating money to help stave off the threat of deflation". Source Reuters 12.10.09.

Yes I think you are absolutely right Smileless, I guess a lot of you have been posting each other quite some and know which buttons to push, being relatively new to this it didn't occur to me that you are all used to how you all express yourselves. Thanks for taking the time getting back to me ?
Oh OK POGS
.
I suppose it's because we know who they are, their real names and what they look like norose. It's just too easy for some to start name calling, mud slinging and indulging in childish and at times bullying behaviour, when you hide behind a key board, computer screen and psuedonym
.
GG MK 2
" I don't know if your will understand this concept POGS but if I knew who I was reminded of I wouldn't have asked the question"
But your post stated :-
" Is Smileless a returnee folks, please? This is beginning to seem very familiar."
So you contradict yourself do you not? You implied there was a poster you were reminded of!
Sorry smiley emoticons not working .
Have all Tory supporters forgotten Osborne's solution - quantitative easing?
Accepted as a Tory policy but if Corbyn were to suggest that now he'd be vilified.
Not saying it's the answer but let's cut the hypocrisy please. Tory good. Labour bad??
By the way - bring back Keynesianism!
Why is it we expect our politicians etc to behave in a civilised manner when having debates ,but are unable to do so ourselves on what is supposed to be a forum for discussions not personal insults, every thread I have been on sooner or later seems to end in name calling mud slinging & childish & sometimes bullying behaviour, And then we have the cheek to criticise the politicians pot ,kettle, black ?
Well I'd still like to know POGS
Smileless
"Why POGS who do I remind you of; do tell."
Er, you remind me of you. I was not agreeing with GG MK 2.
I don't know if your will understand this concept POGS but if I knew who I was reminded of I wouldn't have asked the question
Thanks Ana
. I don't often post on the political threads GG but have done so in the past. I've been posting on GN for 4+ years and I'm pretty sure you and I GG came to blows' on one of the earlier Brexit threads, just after the referendum
.
Why POGS who do I remind you of; do tell.
Smileless has been here for years. Perhaps GG2 has not been interested in the other, non-political topics?
Smileless has been on GN for years.....possibly much longer than yourself GGM2
Obviously you don't look at other threads GG2. There was no mention of 'political threads' in your silly question.
Oh no Smileless
Everyone knows (but me - I just pay enough attention) so it's a better bet to ask. We have had deniers in the past - who even I recognised.
