Before you vote.......

Take a closer look at any election stuff that may have come through your letterbox.

Check the very small print, usually on the back of the leaflets, saying where they were printed.

Of course all candidates will say how passionate they are about supporting the local economy, ensuring that businesses thrive, thus creating employment etc.

So, of the 3 campaign leaflets I have received, only 1 was actually printed within the constituency area!

With no hesitation I voted Liberal Democrat. This is the party with the best manifesto, according to the Economist magazine and the party which would offer the British people the chance to vote to approve or reject whatever brexit deal can be negotiated. If it is a bad deal (worse than we have now), we can vote to stay in the EU.

Article 50 is revocable, as has been verified by the legal expert who drafted the legislation. Leaving is not inevitable, no matter how many times the media tell you that it is.

Last year people had no idea what brexit might entail (and a lot of people believed a lot of lies), so it makes much more sense for us to have an informed deal when we are no voting for a pig in a poke.

BB, It is more complicated this time, Wales has always been strong labour and every leader I can recall has always considered Wales as important to the party, untill this leader

All I know is that if Corbyn gets in I shall know tomorrow exactly how a lot of Americans felt when Trump got in!!

f77ms Thu 08-Jun-17 18:02:45

Leaflets from the Lib dems and Labour , nothing from the Tories . Maybe because I have a huge Labour poster in the window grin

BBbevan Thu 08-Jun-17 17:57:08

It was what they stood for, their policies etc relevant to Wales that we found difficulty in getting. Anniebach Thanks for replying ?

Anniebach Thu 08-Jun-17 16:20:15

All MP's in Wales will be elected to Westminster, quite simple. There will be an election for the Welsh Assembly in four years.

BBbevan Thu 08-Jun-17 16:01:52

We have recently moved to Wales and have no real idea of the politics associated with an Assembly. We tried to find out who our candidates were and that was very frustrating. No leaflets and no knock on the door. So we voted as we would have in Hertfordshire. I feel a bit bad about that but at the moment we have enough to do without researching Welsh politics .

hulahoop Thu 08-Jun-17 15:36:58

No knocks on door for us plenty of leaflets I'm with others hope TM doesn't get a landslide .

valeriej43 Thu 08-Jun-17 15:16:25

It is very difficult to know what to do, in this election, i voted for Brexit, but just cant bring myself to vote Tory either, after all the damage they have done, to the NHS, etc
I had never heard of food banks until David Cameron got in as PM,
I am fed up of all the smeats against JC but at the same time i am worried about immigration and maybe open borders
Brexit has been voted for so surely the vote will stay

Howcome Thu 08-Jun-17 14:58:33

I'm still not sure what to vote- I've carefully read all the literature and listened to the debates and concluded that they are ALL lying- or being kind are very mistaken. Unless there were several thousand parties I guess I won't find one I totally agree with.
Don't trust one of 'em I just don't want Mother May to get in with a landslide as I can't abide the woman- however I'm a Tory re Brexit and a Socialist re the welfare state- I'd like to put taxes up and pay off the deficits and bolster the care and NHS systems and stop this horrible to most austerity. I'm happy to take my "medicine" if it helps, but it hasn't and we are still cut cut cutting everything. I am ashamed of this country when I see what the welfare system and NHS has become, and I NEVER agreed with selling off social housing, nationalised industries etc. That was a Tory vote maker. I also hate the Labour Party rhetoric, borrowing plans and in fighting so I'm stuffed really - anything else here in this key marginal is a wasted vote. I will vote, Mrs Pankhurst et al gave up a lot to enable me to exercise that right, so exercise it I will!! Even if I ip dip sky blue, when I get there!!

I have had leaflets from Lib Dems & Tories, nothing from Labour, think they have given up on gaining any seats here in the South West apart from Exeter & I or 2 in Plymouth. All went in the blue bag & I've done my Postal Vote. I also ignored most of the tv coverage. I knew which way I was going to vote & no I'm not telling, that's between me & the Ballot Boxgrin

valeriej43 Thu 08-Jun-17 13:50:26

I have voted labour, and my family have voted labour
I thought mose NHS workers would vote labour too, but a friend of mine who is a Dr is all for the Torys,
This is the first time i have ever had anyone at the door, they were labour
I have had a few leaflets from the other parties, but no canvassers
If they cant be bothered to speak to their constituents they dont deserve anyones vote
I know of several people who would usually vote labour, but voting Tory because of Brexit, and say they will vote as usual in the next GE
I think we have to put the people first regarding the NHS ,the women who have lost out on pensions and the disabledetc

Hear hear Stella. Well said

Disgruntled Thu 08-Jun-17 13:21:01

Hear, hear, SluttyGran[great name] and Stella. Avaaz recommended voting tactically but I've voted with my heart and soul. I dare say tomorrow will be depressing.

sluttygran Thu 08-Jun-17 13:08:47

I keep all the leaflets together, in case I want to check any of their gems before the election.

So I just found that I have 9 leaflets and a letter (actually a printed leaflet) from the current MP (who seems to be a bit nervous), 3 from the closest rival and 1 each from the other contenders.

1 was printed in the constituency, 3 in England, 1 in Wales and the rest in Scotland.

joannewton46 Thu 08-Jun-17 13:03:36

jefm - I want someone who cares about the people they represent so Yes Please to Comrade Corbyn.
He's been slated as an IRA supporter for suggesting talking to them - yet our government DID talk to the IRA and we have had a more peaceful time as a result. He was awarded an international peace prize as a result. At least he's a man of his principles and doesn't change his stance every 5 minutes when it's clearly unpopular.

JanT8 Thu 08-Jun-17 13:03:02

Haven't had anything come through our door at all !! Nor anyone canvassing!! If it wasn't so important I wouldn't vote for any of them!

sarahellenwhitney Thu 08-Jun-17 12:40:09

Once bitten is my motto. Only once in the years of having a vote have I changed parties. The results of which we are observing now. An unsafe world that puts the fear of the almighty in me for future generations.

Stella14 Thu 08-Jun-17 12:34:22

Jeremy Corbyn is not the man he is painted in the Tory press and by the Tory party, who smear him because they have nothing good to say about their own plans. Anyone who is not in the top 1% of income bracket who votes Tory is absolutely like a turkey voting for Christmas. If that offends anyone, so be it. It offends me when people choose to vote for a Tory government when they are crushing our NHS, education system, care of the elderly and other vulnerable groups and every other public service. Adults should inform themselves, not just base their opinions on the drip, drip effect of the rubbish churned out by our right wing media.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Thu 08-Jun-17 12:21:29

I took a quick look at some of them which I noticed were indeed printed locally BUT I'm afraid that they all went where they belong - in the rubbish bin.

kittylester Thu 08-Jun-17 12:18:29

grin

Anya Thu 08-Jun-17 11:59:30

Just to prove Labour voters have a sense of humour (which some might doubt from certain threads!)

pollyperkins Thu 08-Jun-17 11:55:42

Was very undecided but in the end voted tactically. Wont make much difference in this Tory stronghold. No tory leaflet , others printed not lically.

farview Thu 08-Jun-17 11:49:39

...voted..and yet.for the first time EVER still feel unsure re the box I X'd!!!!...?
