The exit pole predicting no overall majority.

whitewave Fri 09-Jun-17 08:07:49

Corbyn did good no one can take that away from him.
The direction of travel is away from austerity and towards growth away from Hard Brexit and towards a Soft Brexit

Imagine PMQsgrin

She has paid the price for her hubris just as Cameron did over the referendum. Neither dreamed things might not go their way. Indeed May openly announced that she was calling the GE to increase her majority. Well, now she knows what the country think of that!

She has to go and let more moderate folk take over - who will engage in proper negotiations with the EU that involve listening and compromise rather than bloody-mindedness that makes people did their heels in. And maybe, just maybe, the Tories will work out that austerity does not have the public vote.

So, May has just spent around £100000000 of our money on a vanity election; and it is now likely that this will be repeated later in the year. Money that could have been used for social services and the NHS. How dare she? She MUST go.

Owen Jones on Today at 8.15 ish talking about "How Britain's youth, attacked and demonised for so long, fought back"

Anniebach Fri 09-Jun-17 08:09:41

Don't know your politics do you Rigsby ?

GracesGranMK2 Fri 09-Jun-17 08:10:43

You're right whitewave and the electorate did good too. I have a feeling the Tories will still think they know better though. The fight continues!

Anya Fri 09-Jun-17 08:12:15

It would be a mistake for Labour to try to form a minority government at this time. They should bide their time and let the Tories struggle on.

whitewave Fri 09-Jun-17 08:14:57

The gutter filth will going into overdrive, but with a fair wind and all the luck in the world it wont wash any more with the voter. Social media has undoubtedly helped turn out the young vote

Anniebach Fri 09-Jun-17 08:16:39

Anya, the reason I posted of the 1972 election.

Now Both parties will be frantically trying to get another party to join in a coalition ,
The DUP will not align with labour , they have a problem with Corbyn being an IRA supporter.

The Libs will not enter an coalition

whitewave Fri 09-Jun-17 08:16:41

Yes anya yes i think you are right. Labour should see itself as a government in waiting. It wont have to wait long

gillybob Fri 09-Jun-17 08:17:23

Plus the fact that the unions were ordering people like my sister who (at 50) has never voted in her life. She was genuinely worried that if she didn't vote she would be found out and possibly lose her job.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 09-Jun-17 08:17:25

I think you are right Anya. There can be a strong opposition now (particularly if the right of the LP get their act together) and that could well be better for them.

Today reporting that there is briefing against David Davis. I do hope so. We did not vote for an extreme Brexit; we only just voted for Brexit so they need to temper it to suit the vote.

whitewave Fri 09-Jun-17 08:17:48

Blimey annie you arent very gracious in defeat are you

whitewave Fri 09-Jun-17 08:19:01

gilly what are you talking about!@!

Anya Fri 09-Jun-17 08:20:23

Well done my constituency - overturned a Tory majority of almost 7,000.

whitewave Fri 09-Jun-17 08:20:32

Just saying on bbc that Article 50 can be revoked.

We could have told them that!!!!

Ginny42 Fri 09-Jun-17 08:21:09

Morning everyone! Only had 3 hours sleep, some of us stayed up very late on GN.

Some still to declare and probably 30 for Labour. The figure of £130M for this GE was quoted on 4 last night. We simply shouldn't spend that kind of money again in the autumn.

Anya Fri 09-Jun-17 08:22:13

Sorry Gilly are you really saying 'the union' forced your sister to Vote Labour.

That is quite simply not possible.

Nandalot Fri 09-Jun-17 08:22:19

Morning everyone. What a beautiful day! Shame about Zac Goldsmith and Amber Rudd but you can't have everything.

Ginny42 Fri 09-Jun-17 08:22:38

Why are they interviewing FARAGE ffs?

Anniebach Fri 09-Jun-17 08:22:40

Whitewave, Welsh labour has done great.

I have tried to discuss the options but in come you and Rigsby bitching as usual, I will wait untill the hysteria calms down, there may be someone like me more interested in the possibilities which lie ahead for all parties in a hung parliment .

gillybob Fri 09-Jun-17 08:22:49

I Think it's plain enough whitewave and was in response to a post by yourself saying that social media has helped turn out the young voter.

Just saying that there were a lot of scare mongering going on by the people who really run the LP. That's all.

nightowl Fri 09-Jun-17 08:22:58

That's amazing Anya sunshine

PamelaJ1 Fri 09-Jun-17 08:24:00

Wouldn't it it wonderful if that could all get together round a table and work out what is best for us. ??????

Ginny42 Fri 09-Jun-17 08:24:43

Puzzling why the swing to Tories from SNP.

gillybob Fri 09-Jun-17 08:25:01

No I am not saying that at all Anya I am saying that she is a quiet soul. Never voted in her life, doesn't do politics etc. she said that the union rep had been in badgering her and she felt genuinely worried that if she did not vote. Her Union would find out ?????? And she might lose her job.
