The exit pole predicting no overall majority.

Rigby46 Fri 09-Jun-17 07:14:40

Or the DUP could join us - they want a softer Brexit.

whitewave Fri 09-Jun-17 07:19:25

No one should underestimate what Corbyn has achieved. He had everything thrown at him over the past couple of years - look at the filth from the gutter press - he must have a spine of steel

Strong and stable grin

Confused about Anna Soubry [thought she'd lost].However, she is a staunch remainer and will fight [along with Ken Clarke] for a soft brexit.Disappointed that Goldsmith has got back in; ditto Amber Rudd [but oh so narrowly]. Trouble is, we're now faced with the possibility of Boris as PM. That's twice in 12 months that a Conservative PM has put themselves before what is best for this country. You can fool some of the people etc etc etc

whitewave Fri 09-Jun-17 07:21:59

Morning Tegan!!! I had about 3 hours sleepsmile

nightowl Fri 09-Jun-17 07:24:26

Wrong about Anna Soubry then, my poor daughter sad

My horrendous useless MP has hung on to her seat as well.

This is a horrible situation, how much can Labour achieve against this lot unless they unite?

whitewave Fri 09-Jun-17 07:27:00

With the level of seats the Tories have they wont be able to govern.

Rigby46 Fri 09-Jun-17 07:30:42

It's the DUP wot won it but they can't even form a government in NI

Rigby46 Fri 09-Jun-17 07:32:08

I'm off to look at their manifesto (DUP that' is) Just heard that their website has crashed.

Tegan2 Fri 09-Jun-17 07:33:19

I think they will unite nightowl; they must surely realise that socialism in it's purest sense isn't dead. It took me and my daughter a long time to 'get' what Jeremy Corbyn was about but we got there in the end. My son will be disappointed, too, about Soubry. Labour were [as I feared] let down by the SNP vote going to the Conservatives and not them. I suppose Heather Wheeler has got back in sad.

Tegan2 Fri 09-Jun-17 07:35:32

Whoohoo; Chris Williamson has won NE Derbyshire! I can remember when he used to be in our village pantomimes.

Tegan2 Fri 09-Jun-17 07:40:16

Dianne Abbott has increased her majority, too....I'm so pleased for her.

daphnedill Fri 09-Jun-17 07:40:40

It's a bit ironic that Scottish Conservatives are playing a major role in propping up a Conservative government.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 09-Jun-17 07:41:41

May has made a statement to say she is not resigning I think.

Some of you deserve medals for staying up the way you did.

So far I have heard that is has been the revenge of the leavers and the revenge of the young. Why could it not be that people just saw that what a JC led Labour Party was offering what people wanted - an end to austerity and a softer brexit.

whitewave Fri 09-Jun-17 07:45:18

Yes gg

Right end of austerity and soft Brexit - this must be the fight.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 09-Jun-17 07:48:45

Just heard Nick Clegg on Today. The need to take him on as a negotiator for Brexit. EU person (didn't catch who it was) has said we cannot have more time.

Anya Fri 09-Jun-17 07:50:03

May says a lot of things. She's the U-Turn Queen.

She's thrown away a majority.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 09-Jun-17 07:52:24

EU person was Weiber (I am not sure how you spell it) He said better to be in and improving the EU rather than outside it. I can't see that happening but I don't think he is wrong.

nightowl Fri 09-Jun-17 07:52:33

So happy about Chris Williamson Tegan. My OH has been campaigning hard in this constituency and Chris's win will be some consolation for his disappointment here.

whitewave Fri 09-Jun-17 07:54:47

We need to thank the young

Feel your power all you young people look what you can achieve

GracesGranMK2 Fri 09-Jun-17 07:55:44

I think they just said that Labour had the biggest share of the vote since Clement Atlee. John MacDonald saying Labour could form a minority government.

Tegan2 Fri 09-Jun-17 07:56:03

He lost by just a few votes last time, didn't he? I would have done more for the election but didn't know what to do/where to go.

Anniebach Fri 09-Jun-17 07:57:59

1972 we had a hung parliment , had a second election the same year .

GracesGranMK2 Fri 09-Jun-17 07:59:24

Facebook post from son in Australia.

"Theresa May meet schadenfreude. Schadenfreude meet Theresa May. You will be spending some considerable time together."

whitewave Fri 09-Jun-17 08:02:31

People have embraced the new politics.

Rigby46 Fri 09-Jun-17 08:03:30

Oh yes ab. Remember it well - right in the middle of the Brexit negotiations wasn't it? Completely irrelevant post but then I guess you're not feeling too chipper this morning.
