Anniebach Fri 09-Jun-17 09:49:46

Doesn't matter to you Whitewave ? Not very loyal are you?

AllTheLs Fri 09-Jun-17 09:51:47

Yippee, now our wildlife might just stand a chance (And our NHS, and social support, and and and and and.............)

Lazigirl Fri 09-Jun-17 09:52:43

I went to sleep a happy person once it was clear that the exit polls were reasonably accurate. I think it is an amazing result considering the sustained campaign by the right wing press to destroy Corbyn. The power of the press to influence elections is clearly diminishing as their readership ages. Most younger people get their information from social media which is far more broad ranging than the narrow political views in press and on mainstream media. This was very apparent during this election campaign.

What are you talking about annie

Watching the young on Isle of Wight. Wonderful

Jalima1108 Fri 09-Jun-17 09:52:52

The young were promised no tuition fees and students who have started will get their money back, so I think more a case if bought votes than the young developing an interest in Brexit
Yes, anniebach as someone said to me it is a form of bribery and it worked.
But what about those who are struggling still to pay back their student debt? That could have caused a lot of dissension in the future as they get older and are still trying to pay back the debt whilst their younger counterparts are debt-free.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 09-Jun-17 09:53:12

Whitewave, you are not going to like this but it is true. Corbyn is a figure head, he did a good job with the Mike , had years doing so. But there are others running the party

Annie it is not "true". It is your, rather biased, opinion. All parties are led by a team and a good leader uses the talents of all the people around him/her. They do not, as the person you seem to hold in such high esteem does, shut yourself away, do not consult with or listen to your team but bring in a couple of people who agree with you.

Good teams are to applauded as is the hub or leader of that team.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 09-Jun-17 09:53:29

to be not to.

gillybob Fri 09-Jun-17 09:55:44

Of course it matters whitewave I could not vote for a party that is effectively a public sector party. I do not work in the public sector.

JC''s LP would cripple the private sector. Although that's because he hates business. We are all fat cats who whip our employees.

Nandalot Fri 09-Jun-17 09:55:50

Does anyone know who was elected in Keene? Apparently there was chaos there as the officials were using an old electoral register and were turning away people with poll cards. Did they manage to vote? Can only find references to chaos not to the outcome.

harrigran Fri 09-Jun-17 09:55:58

Will be a few joining you sunseeker, I have already dared to open my mouth this morning.

Anniebach Fri 09-Jun-17 09:56:17

Jalima,i would hope they had the intelligence to know it is not possible to change the past

MaizieD Fri 09-Jun-17 09:56:29

I think, sunseeker, that information was given by a mathematical illiterate. According to the BBC tories have 42% of the vote & Labour have 40% (so far). The figures you quote don't correspond to that at all.

gillybob Fri 09-Jun-17 09:57:51

My DD has huge student debt Jalima1108 JC' s bribery would not have made a jot of difference to her.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 09-Jun-17 09:59:33

Yes, anniebach as someone said to me it is a form of bribery and it worked.

Your bribery is my investment Jalima and that is the difference isn't it. I want a govermment that efficiently runs the economy with a fully costed programme and not on that racks up more debt than if you add it all up for every Labour government since the war.

You expect bribes; I expect an economy that grows good lives for all.

whitewave Fri 09-Jun-17 09:59:42

The fight hasn't stopped, it must carry on until the next election. Keep the momentum going

rosesarered Fri 09-Jun-17 10:00:33

No DD I haven't got a Lib Dem MP ......a Conservative one (I don't live in Oxford)
Well, slept through the night as we are off on holiday in half an hour ( what Rigby calls kittens holidays and potatoes , lol.)
Just read through the thread, so many stayed up all night, you must be exhausted.
So T May back in power for five years, well, for all who don't like it, that's democracy.
sunseeker.... interesting figures!
The Conservatives will have the backing of the DUP I hear.
Sturgeon did badly, so that's the end of indie ref 2 for a long time.smile
Didn't expect Robertson and Salmon to lose their seats though.

Anniebach Fri 09-Jun-17 10:00:53

GG, believe what you choose, Corbyn did not select a team, a team selected him , wait and see, he will still not give unscripted interviews ,

Fitzy54 Fri 09-Jun-17 10:01:46

Just seen press association figures which say the Tories got about 48% and Labour 40%. That feels about right to me given the number of seats won by the parties.

whitewave Fri 09-Jun-17 10:03:02

It doesn't matter - what matters is that the voter women and young in particular liked what they saw and voted for the Labour manifesto.

You can't spin away the astounding achievement.

sunseeker Fri 09-Jun-17 10:04:15

Maizie - these were figures put out on BBC local radio

GracesGranMK2 Fri 09-Jun-17 10:04:16

Spite and personal attacks. We went through the whole night without them but look at what happens when the 'right' (not just right-wing but the arrogant 'I am right' brigade) join the thread. Just like Mays election campaign really. Spite against those she whose opinions she chooses not even to hear (I can still hear the hollow laughter when she said "judge us on our record") and personal attacks when they have nothing factual to say.

I'm off out. Bile baths are not for me.

rosesarered Fri 09-Jun-17 10:04:56

You are right of course anniebach the youth vote was bribed/promised no tuition fees and eagerly voted, am betting that there won't be the same youth turnout in five years though, now that they have lost.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 09-Jun-17 10:05:35

I know you believe you are right AB.

rosesarered Fri 09-Jun-17 10:06:19

Good morning to you too GGM2 smile
