Now this really be worth doing!!

Let's start with the QS.

What will be left out/watered down! Not sure how they will explain it away as it's in the manifesto. Probably say something like "Brexit and all it's complications will mean that stuff will have to be shelved"

Fox hunting - out
Triple lock - remains
Social care - out

granny grin

It doesn't get any better does it?!

Just seen a clip of our new Tory MP Luke Graham (He ousted the SNP's Tasmina Ahmed Sheik at the GE) speaking in a nearly empty H of C. The thrust of his speech was to castigate the missing SNP MP's who, he stated were 'only interested in matters which affected Scotland', unlike his good self who was standing up for everyone across the UK.

At which point Mr Deputy Speaker advised him that as the debate concerned an England and Wales only issue the SNP MPs were required under EVEL rules, to leave the chamber as indeed were all Scottish and NI MPs, including the said Luke Graham, MP for Ochil and S Perthshire.

Good advice from Lady Macbeth for Maybot etc "Stand not upon the order of your going,
But go at once."

whitewave Tue 11-Jul-17 11:59:48

Astounding the government has commissioned a report which has come up with the breath taking revelation that all work should be fair and decent???

So behind the curve of opinion by about 50 years at a guess. What b------s

whitewave Tue 11-Jul-17 11:51:40

Maybot apparently needs policy advise.

I can give her some.

Merkel is investing in Research and Development greater than America and Japan..want to know how to run a successful economy Maybot

Easy - invest

1% for teachers!

That should go down well. Not sure with whom though.

durhamjen Mon 10-Jul-17 23:01:52

"You judge a society by the decency of living of the weakest."

When May says she believes this and says she'll do something about it I'll believe she wants a true cross party coalition.

durhamjen Mon 10-Jul-17 20:13:31

"If she needs help, we’ll be happy to send her Labour’s General Election manifesto. It contains some great stuff on how a real government, with the genuine best interests of the country and its people at heart, will negotiate Brexit.

As many of her colleagues already seem to want to use it as a reference-guide for proper government anyway, we’ll be happy to present her with her own copy.

We’re sure she’ll appreciate it."

I wonder if he'll sign it personally.

durhamjen Mon 10-Jul-17 19:33:49

She's got cross-party agreement on a soft brexit. Not what she was asking for.

durhamjen Mon 10-Jul-17 19:32:28

Why would any party want to work with May just to support her against her own MPs?
She hasn't thought it through, has she?
I suppose they could ask her for a few extra billion for their pet causes.
They've just said that teachers have to stick to the 1% pay cap. Libdems could say they would support her on one thing providing she removes the pay cap.
Labour has a long list, providing she leaves number 10.

Channel 4 looking at the DUPs money £426k and its source.

New transparency rules are not being backdated as DUP is resisting it. Everyone else wants it backdated including Electoral Commission.
So Tories are ham strung by DUP.

Marching season is upon us.

whitewave Mon 10-Jul-17 16:04:12

Gross

whitewave Mon 10-Jul-17 16:03:59

Two Tory mps accused of gros racist remarks

Mays proposal leaves so many questions unanswered

Will European students have to pay more?
Will doctors enjoy continued and guaranteed recognition of their qualifications in the UK
Why are frontier workers who work in the UK but live in the EU not mentioned
Why won't the UK government simply confirm that the cut- off date for all European citizens will not be sooner than the date of Brexit.

whitewave Mon 10-Jul-17 12:25:48

So let's look at Verhofstadt's reply to May's proposition for EU immigrants and U.K. Migrants.

"In the European Parliament....... we were never convinced that Brexit would be a positive development for citizens.
The UK proposal only confirms that belief- falling short of its own ambitions to " put citizens first". If implemented, it would cast a dark cloud of vagueness and uncertainty over millions of Europeans............
Barnier proposal is strikingly different....... wants British people and Europeans to keep the same rights and same level of protection they currently enjoy under European law. All rights acquired before the date of withdrawal will be directly enforceable, with lifelong protection, full reciprocity and equal treatment.
That is what the British people want when they indicate they seek to keep their EU citizenship.

UK response came 3 weeks late. It was a damp squib, proposing that Europeans obtain the status of " third- country nationals" in the U.K., with fewer rights than the UK citizens are offered throughout the EU.
Europeans will ....lose right to vote in local elections, ....family members subject to minimum income requirements, and it is unclear what the status of post-Brexit babies would be.

This proposal is even in contradiction of the vote leave manifesto.

MaizieD Mon 10-Jul-17 10:04:12

But Corbyn thinks that dialogue with 'enemies' is the way to go...wink

whitewave Mon 10-Jul-17 09:31:41

gg exactly.

She's paid £1.5bn to save her skin already, and realises that it is almost certainly not enough.

She can't look to her own party to support her so is now trying her luck by flattering the other parties.

If I was Corbyn I would say a rude word in private but politely turn her down in public.

But he may act entirely differently.

GracesGranMK2 Mon 10-Jul-17 09:06:14

I actually think May should have looked at some cross party working when the election result was first seen. That seems to me what the vote suggests, not buying power and in the process destabilising one of the countries which is part of the UK.

I don't really know how to put into words what I feel about what she is doing at the point she is doing it at with this speech.

whitewave Mon 10-Jul-17 09:02:54

maizie nor me

MaizieD Mon 10-Jul-17 09:00:19

Richard Murphy has some suggestions for Theresa, too.

www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2017/07/10/red-lines/

Though I really cannot see why other parties should help her out

whitewave Mon 10-Jul-17 08:26:59

You do wonder if they actually understand anything!

whitewave Mon 10-Jul-17 08:20:36

Oh dear Green has just told a porky on 4.

He told listeners that the ECJ has the power to involve themselves in internal law!!

Never been true, still not true and will not be true.

TAKE THAT BACK!!!!!!

whitewave Mon 10-Jul-17 08:15:36

so - let's see plans to grow the economy

Sounds like a plan

lift the pay cap for public workers.

Sounds like a good plan.

Properly fund the NHS

Sounds like a plan

Ensure tax across the board is fair and equitable

Sounds like a plan

Cost what you intend to do

Sounds like a plan

Lots more ideas where those came from.
