Now this really be worth doing!!

Let's start with the QS.

What will be left out/watered down! Not sure how they will explain it away as it's in the manifesto. Probably say something like "Brexit and all it's complications will mean that stuff will have to be shelved"

Fox hunting - out
Triple lock - remains
Social care - out

Isn't the Telegraph one of those awful 'right wing rags'? Surely it can't be printing the truth?

whitewave Wed 28-Jun-17 17:08:15

BBC news- Davis - remember him of the optimistic sunny uplands - Brexit a simple procedure kind of guy?

Latest quote

"Brexit - as complicated as a moon landing"

Oh dear

durhamjen Wed 28-Jun-17 17:09:44

Andrew Gwynne said that the government should vote for the Labour amendment tonight!

Luckylegs9 Wed 28-Jun-17 17:10:15

I am afraid you all have a very narrow view of politics.
Bring on I D Cards, should have been done years ago, only those with something to hide need fear them. Also people that can sit for hours on a computer searching the Internet, should be deemed fit for work, that's what a lot of jobs are anyway.

durhamjen Wed 28-Jun-17 17:11:23

Whitewave, I think he also said that they don't have to carry one around with them all the time, so there!

whitewave Wed 28-Jun-17 17:11:58

grin

durhamjen Wed 28-Jun-17 17:12:52

What are you on about, Luckylegs?
What's searching the internet got to do with anything?
How many hours do you spend searching the internet?
Get a job!

daphnedill Wed 28-Jun-17 17:16:06

Blimey! It sounds as though the latest upgrade from CHQ has a glitch. Time for a reboot, methinks!

durhamjen Wed 28-Jun-17 17:21:34

Listening to the Queen's speech debate, every other Tory MP is trying to outdo the previous one to see how many of Maybot's phrases they can get in. Definitely CCHQ glitch. You'd think they realised that they are not working.

No mention of Heathrow in Queen's speech, but Tories say they can get third runway through without a majority. It would be interesting to see how Zac votes.

Report in today's Guardian about a Leicester school cutting its teaching week to 41/2 days because of cuts. Isn't that illegal?

whitewave Wed 28-Jun-17 18:13:54

Peston tweeted

" in the space of 3 hours the government has u-turned on public sector pay then U-turned on the u-turn"

daphnedill Wed 28-Jun-17 18:19:14

No, it's not illegal and there are a few schools who have taken the decision. If the school is an academy, it can teach as many days as it wants. Even if it's a local authority school, there is no legislation which states that a school much teach five full days.

One of my local schools has just announced that there will be no whole class music teaching for Years 7 and 8 from September.

Nandalot Wed 28-Jun-17 19:20:21

They are supposed to be 380 sessions a year, normally 190 days in a maintained school. Academies and Free schools set their own. So if they are maintained school they can't really cut a session, I.e. a morning or afternoon. Though school length of day can be determined by Head with Governors okay.

Nandalot Wed 28-Jun-17 19:20:37

There are..sorry.

whitewave Wed 28-Jun-17 19:22:10

Oh channel 4 are reporting. U-turn on a u-turn on a U-turn grin any odd have a clue what they are doing?

whitewave Wed 28-Jun-17 19:22:27

Any one

whitewave Wed 28-Jun-17 19:36:51

Tories have just banged another nail into their coffin by voting with the DUP against lifting the cap on nurses pay

daphnedill Wed 28-Jun-17 19:43:36

Yes, they can Nandalot. They need to do two registrations a day, so they could do on at (say) 9am, have two hour lessons, a short break and then another one hour session preceded by a registration.

daphnedill Wed 28-Jun-17 19:44:09

on = one

whitewave Wed 28-Jun-17 20:46:42

The government is spinning so much it doesn't seem to know which way it is facing!

The reason for so many u-turns today according to the Telegraph is the continuing war between Hammond and May. Of course May intended to get shot of him so no love lost between them.

durhamjen Wed 28-Jun-17 20:57:09

'Tonight, the Conservatives had an opportunity to put their money where their mouth is, by ending cuts to our police and fire service and lifting the public sector pay cap.

“Although government ministers said they had learned the lessons of the general election and were listening to voters, it is clear that nothing has changed.

They had the perfect opportunity to walk the walk, but instead they marched through the lobby to show Tory austerity is business as usual.

While the money is there when the Conservatives need it to keep themselves in office, the rest of the country now face more devastating cuts to our emergency and other vital services.

The Conservatives clearly plan to keep working for a privileged few. Only Labour is ready to form a government that will work for the many.'

Corbyn on the result. Not one Tory or DUP member voted with Labour even though some of them said that the cap should be lifted.
They can't still be scared of Maybot, can they?
It wasn't a vote on the QS, just on an amendment.

whitewave Wed 28-Jun-17 21:05:09

Andy Burnham tweeted

So the DUP have got concessions for NI public workers, and yet vote to keep the cap on mainland public workers. How can that be right?

whitewave Wed 28-Jun-17 21:57:29

Lib dem going to put forward an amendment that says thst the government should nevotiate to stay in single market if possible.

Now watch the Tories squirm and try to explain that one away

durhamjen Wed 28-Jun-17 22:25:29

fullfact.org/pmqs/2017/Jun/28

Looks like Corbyn was right at PMQs.

durhamjen Wed 28-Jun-17 22:36:16

Who would have believed this? Tories shot themselves in the foot by not offering more pay to police, firemen and nurses.
