Now this really be worth doing!!

Let's start with the QS.

What will be left out/watered down! Not sure how they will explain it away as it's in the manifesto. Probably say something like "Brexit and all it's complications will mean that stuff will have to be shelved"

Fox hunting - out
Triple lock - remains
Social care - out

rosesarered Tue 20-Jun-17 21:57:34

You must know the answer to that Rigby.... to keep Corbyn out at all costs!

Rigby46 Tue 20-Jun-17 21:38:12

Yes the QS - dropping just about everything that was in the manifesto it appears. What on earth did Tory voters vote for?

GracesGranMK2 Tue 20-Jun-17 21:35:50

The Queens Speech seems to be getting thinner and thinner. Theresa May drops plans to snatch free school meals after Lib Dem pressure

Rigby46 Tue 20-Jun-17 21:34:05

Yes ww and gg I watched that interview as well. I felt that when you really listened to and deconstructed what he said, he came across as arrogant and dismissive such as his comment about austerity. I used to have some time for him( although never for his BAT involvement ). I also thought that Cable was extremely poor and I was left wondering what he stood for. Oh yes and KC's comments about GT - he seemed to think the issue was all about fire regulations.

GracesGranMK2 Tue 20-Jun-17 21:34:02

The Labour Party were quite prepared to run a minority government RaR and may yet be required to do so allowing Uncle Tom Cobbley to go on his way.

rosesarered Tue 20-Jun-17 21:33:04

ww sounds like you are stirring again.
Posters can comment on any thread they like, and this one is not just for you and like minded pals.

rosesarered Tue 20-Jun-17 21:31:18

Thank you trisher but I really don't need a history lesson on the Irish problem.
It looks as if the DUP agreement will go ahead, and it's a good job as we need to get back to normal government business.
Corbyn can't put a government together, even with the help of the SNP and uncle tom cobbley and all, so we need an up and running government, the sooner the better.

rosesarered Tue 20-Jun-17 21:28:16

Lovely posts from you as per usual GGM2 you must be one of the rudest posters ever on GN ( and the amusing thing is.....you can't even see it.)

whitewave Tue 20-Jun-17 21:28:01

More banter ana ?

Ana Tue 20-Jun-17 21:16:58

Determined to have your say, aren't you GGMk2? hmm

whitewave Tue 20-Jun-17 20:25:50

He's changed his tune. Trying to defend the indefensible isn't a good idea.

GracesGranMK2 Tue 20-Jun-17 20:19:02

I am just catching up with the C4 news whitewave - can't wait!

Just watching a squirming Ken Clarke at the moment - not a common sight.

GracesGranMK2 Tue 20-Jun-17 20:16:35

Was it a comment on the theme of the thread Ana? - No.

Was it a necessary or illuminating comment Ana? - No.

Was it true? No.

So there must have been another reason for it - my opinion was gfrey. Goading people is, I imagine, totally allowable by GNHQ but then so is pointing out that is exactly what you are doing Ana.

Now, as far as I am concerned we should get on with the thread - before the kittens appear.

durhamjen Tue 20-Jun-17 20:00:38

Which is why it's best to be ignored, Rigby.

whitewave Tue 20-Jun-17 19:53:14

Love the shadow chancellor's comment on ch 4. "The Tories need to sort themselves out as Labour will need an effective opposition"

Brilliant!

Ana Tue 20-Jun-17 19:50:44

Snort...

whitewave Tue 20-Jun-17 19:49:45

ana says very little else rig but all classed as harmless banter. A good defensive posture I suppose but it doesn't convince me.

Ana Tue 20-Jun-17 19:49:04

How so? No one's going to go off on a different tangent just because I stated the obvious. This isn't Mumsnet.

Rigby46 Tue 20-Jun-17 19:39:31

Harmless banter? I don't think so, more like gfery confused

Ana Tue 20-Jun-17 19:18:35

Gfery? I don't think so, more like harmless banter...hmm

GracesGranMK2 Tue 20-Jun-17 19:01:26

Oh dear, sheer gfery Ana.

So, Queen's speech tomorrow, no government majority, no agreement with the DUP and rumours (on good authority, apparently) that they feel they are being taken for granted.

Philip Hammond making a speech which is totally contrary to what the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, David Davis has been saying. PH says brexit should be led by jobs regardless of immigration (political speak - talent) instead of the 'strong and stable' declarations we have heard in the recent past that immigration, whether it was in our interest or not, had to be reduced to the 'tens of thousands'.

Day one and Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union can't keep his first declared intention (perhaps he shouldn't have been so gung ho in declaring it in the first place.)

What a picture to send round the world!

Ana Tue 20-Jun-17 18:45:37

Because you always agree with dj perhaps? grin

whitewave Tue 20-Jun-17 18:42:52

Why am I not surprised? dj

durhamjen Tue 20-Jun-17 18:42:13

If she reaches an agreement with the DUP she will be taken to court.
Another dilemma for her.

trisher Tue 20-Jun-17 18:39:27

"why not as both sides want it" rar can you try to understand? You have 2 opposing factions who were killing each other and others. Peace was agreed and our government agreed to act as an independent mediator, this government is putting that at risk by choosing to align themselves with one of the factions. Even if both sides want it, it could be one of the most damaging alliances in the history of the Irish situation. It could take us back into conflict and chaos, but never mind that if it enables May to cling on for a little bit.
