Today's Evening Standard (edited by George Osborne) attempted to smear the new Labour MP for Kensington.

Emma Dent Coad has been a Kensington and Chelsea councillor for years and was on the Housing Scrutiny Committee until 2012. The Evening Standard tried to blame her for the low standards of maintenance at Grenfell Tower.

However, it backfired. Council records and the residents' association blog showed that she had campaigned on the side of the residents, but she was a lone voice on a Conservative council.

There is scant evidence to suggest that the Conservative Party is a caring party - in my view their voting record speaks for itself. If Charing Cross Hospital is to be closed, it will be one more attack on state provision of essential services amongst many hundreds of others.

disciples is very mild,they call us SNP followers a cult or Nazi's ...I'm quite sure they dont know WHAT the Nazi's were all about ,as someone who ISN'T a supporter of either May or Corbyn can I say that Mr Corbyn certainly comes across as the most humane of the two...and the most sincere,I dont know who is doing Mrs May's PR these days but they need a good kick up the rear end...or maybe not,might mean we'll see the end of her before too long.

GracesGran I take your point, but I only recently started posting again after a longish break. This was partly down to the bickering and point scoring after Brexit. I have never used any of those terms and only used the word disciple to make my reply to those who have used it on this thread. For the record I am a Corbynista and a Remoaner, but I won't be using the names in my posts (or the opposites).

I'd just say that the Queen keeps her emotions extremely private but she managed to visit victims, volunteers and firefighters all in one go and look sympathetic and interested. I really don't see why May couldn't have done that without being shamed into it (as she was..) She didn't have to hug people, just act, and look, as if she cared. As it is, she almost looked like the only person in the entire country who couldn't give a monkey's.

I think she is either inept or very, very badly advised.

And, for what it's worth, I think this has been a very reasonable and consensual thread.

I think the right know full well how badly this is playing for the Tories and TM ( and I don't just mean the fire). The only way they can cope with this is to grasp wildly at straws as though Corbyns behaviour had anything at all to do with the position she finds herself in. I think they are finding it hard to reflect on what's gone wrong and therefore on how they might put things right. I see no leadership or potential leadership in the Tories at present and no one can blame Corbyn for that can they?

roses I doubt anything more could have been done either. But what if it happened in another city where the neighbouring forces are not close by? The article gives details of fire station closures (ours was closed) and the number of engines cut. That said, the drones being used are from the Kent fire service. It shocked me to find out it wasn't a standard piece of equipment in this day and age.

So when did you complain about people being called Corbynistas, remoaners, and the many other and worse names which were not intended to be complimentary and were often not applicable to the person concerned WKf.

Which other PM has a first year like May has had? Whrn Corbyn first became leader the Corbynites cried - give him time to get into it. May has had two terrorist attacks and this fire, and Brexit to deal with. Whilst I don't share her politics I admire her as a person. Seems her greatest crime is not camera chasing, just as well, if she had chased four Corbyn would have hunted out 10, I just do not like this Diana act.

I think we may be a long time waiting for the Maybugs to say something that is not just denial of what is happening.

No one on GN made other people angry and showed up the situation for what it was. No one commenting on here made May so lacking in a show of humanity and no one, as far as I can see, other than Maybugs, have mentioned Corbyn except to cover the visit he made and to answer the trashing they tried to do of that visit.

On C4 news, they filmed inside a nearby block of similar flats. The places on the landing were fire extinguishers/ hydrant hoses should have been were empty. The notices about what to do in case of fire had blank spaces and unclear instructions. It was beyond depressing and distressing
