When I was similarly ganged up on in a pre-election thread, the only person who PMed me offering support was Roses. I therefore thought I would PM her but decided instead, given the role PMs have played over night, to post publicly. Roses and I come from opposite ends of the political spectrum but I have never found her to be vindictive, cruel or uncaring. I like to read her reasoned posts as they give me an insight into the thinking behind positions that are far removed from my own thoughts and those of my friends. I have no problem with people who have sincerely held, considered views which have been formed by their own life experience and beliefs but have little time for those who enter a discussion to throw in a few slogans and misquoted quotes.

This thread has degenerated into a load of personal insults unworthy of Gransnet forums. I applaud Roses for continuing to post calmly in the face of such hostility and note that Rigsby has not reappeared since the shit hit the fan.

niggly please could we desist from calling anyone who doesb't agree with Anniebach's views 'far left'? She clearly can't stand JC, that is her opinion and she is entitled to voice it, but JC has many supporters as the GE showed, surely they can't ALL be described as 'far left'??

I'm not sure I can support the Day of Rage protest planned to coincide with the Queen's speech. It's not that I don't agree with the basic idea, it's just reading the press it sounds a bit like the anarchists have taken over. This is from the Guardian

I too am disgusted at the way roses has been vilified on this thread to the point of encouraging others to ignore her posts for simply expressing a varied point of view. (you are joking?!!!) Everyone on here is without exception horrified by that dreadful fire and all the other recent outrages,and to suggest otherwise is appalling. I see we're now back to having yet another pop at annibach!! I suppose she will now be accused of God knows what, simply for expressing an opinion that doesn't suit the far left. People have a right to express their opinions whatever they may be, however much others may disagree or even be horrified, without howls of derision, insults and downright lies. Frankly these threads have now become so intolerant of any view other than far left to the point that there is no point even attempting to have a civilised discussion as roses, anni and one or two other brave souls have discovered!

It has been known for a PM to reach the wrong person by the simple error of inserting a poster's name in the "to" space instead of the"subject" space by mistake.

Evidence for your assertion? Anniebach? I've checked my PMs they come from a variety of people very few are about politics, some are about shared histories, some personal experiences, some just friendly.

All seemed to be well and an exchange of views until rosesarered dared to say something that was not absolutely glowing about David Lammy, an opinion which may be shared by many others in fact.

After that the attacks seemed to begin so that anything rosesarered said, however reasonable, was twisted to make her sound uncaring and heartless.

Then began the insinuated 'trolling' accusations.

I think that any suggestion, however oblique, that rosesarered doesn't care about the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire is really revolting and a sign of a very prejudiced way of looking at people with a different outlook. I'm actually quite shocked.
I am shocked too Baggs and disgusted at the way the thread has turned into the bullying of one poster.
rosesarered has expressed nothing but sympathy for the victims, their families and said that she hoped and expected that everything would be done as soon as possible as the spotlight will be on the government to ensure that it is done.

You say I have been 'making attacks' this is your favourite phrase and in my case on here is patently untrue, I have attacked nobody, indulged in no name calling or any nasty personal stuff, so nobody has to 'defend themselves' either on here or by pm.
Naturally you and others are closing ranks as you usually do, but get this straight,
