Former leadership rival Owen Smith appointed to Shadow Northern Ireland Secretary in Jeremy Corbyn’s reshuffle

Announcing the changes to his Shadow Cabinet, Mr Corbyn said: “I am delighted to announce four appointments to fill shadow cabinet vacancies. I look forward to working with the strengthened shadow cabinet as we prepare a government in waiting to carry out our manifesto for the many not the few.

Anniebach Tue 11-Jul-17 15:19:07

I do not hate Corbyn, I have no respect for him

Anniebach Tue 11-Jul-17 15:18:07

Rigsby, three wives so far, easy to get them mixed up , but hey ho Rigsby, as you were

Rigby46 Tue 11-Jul-17 15:14:27

Soi-disant ( iPad won't speak French)

Rigby46 Tue 11-Jul-17 15:13:52

A son-disant socialist talking about 'breeding' <faints>

Rigby46 Tue 11-Jul-17 15:12:36

Oh annie <sighs> your irrational hatred of JC is such that it stops you getting your facts right. Firstly, I didn't use the phrase 'legally separated'. Secondly, it was after his first marriage broke up that he had the affair with DA and thirdly, the alleged visit by DA to no 1 wife was after the end of the marriage not during- but hey ho ab as you were.

Ilovecheese Tue 11-Jul-17 15:06:17

"Breeding shows"!!!
What's that all about?

Anniebach Tue 11-Jul-17 15:02:44

If they were legally separated why did the second Mrs Corbyn say Abbott went to her house and was aggressive to her?

Anniebach Tue 11-Jul-17 15:00:57

But not on stage at the 02 for the country to hear, they knew how to conduct themselves in public as MP's should , not use foul language and mock fellow MP's.

Breeding shows doesn't it

Rigby46 Tue 11-Jul-17 14:19:35

Apparently the ding dongs between Blair and Brown really turned the air blue when they were in power

Rigby46 Tue 11-Jul-17 14:17:45

ab there is a world of difference between being separated ( but still legally married) and having an affair and living with your wife/husband and having an affair. My understanding is that JC was already separated from his wife when he had a relationship with DA.

Anniebach Tue 11-Jul-17 13:49:18

Whitewave, you find it acceptable I do not, it was the go ahead for people to use verbal abuse, would you say the same to your grandchildren? I most certaintly would not, you tell me what chancellor or shadow chancellor has said this sort of thing publicly, I am surprised you find it acceptable, little wonder on Twitter we read similar said to MP's.

We obviously have different views on how politicians should speak to crowds

Primrose65 Tue 11-Jul-17 13:42:43

I don't think there's any objection to the swearing - are you sure you're OK with the shadow chancellor calling fellow MPs losers? The least objectional thing was the f*****g ! It's irrelevant if the tories act like this. If they're racist, does that make a little bit of racism OK? Being the 'least worst' is not a political strategy to be proud of.

whitewave Tue 11-Jul-17 13:29:26

Blimey annie that is mild compared to how the Tories conduct themselves. And to suggest that no Labour person has ever sworn hmm

Primrose65 Tue 11-Jul-17 13:11:04

I agree it's widespread, but for me that's no excuse. All these ad hominem attacks, whether it's towards opposition or internally are pretty ineffective and are the signs of a weak argument.

Anniebach Tue 11-Jul-17 12:48:11

Maizie, I didn't say it was confined to the Labour Party, I am aware of the fact there are nasty parties, but the Labour Party despite the many ding dongs has never been nasty as it has now become , when a shadow chancellor can stand on stage at a rally in the 02 and call fellow labour MP's f*****g losers , that's low, cheap, nasty

whitewave Tue 11-Jul-17 12:40:42

No I think that the nastiness was as a result of outfits like Brietbart, Cambridge Analytica and the hard right stirring up visceral fear over immigrants etc. They trod in areas no other decent politician would ever have done. They opened the doors of hate and fear, and it will be hard to get the genie back into the lamp.

devongirl Tue 11-Jul-17 12:40:02

Primrose65: Inclusivity for everyone who agrees with me!

That's TM to a T!!!

MaizieD Tue 11-Jul-17 12:34:36

Fact, since Corbyn became leader there is a nastiness in people which I never encountered before Corbyn

I don 't think it's confined to the Labour Party; it's just as evident in comments about Brexit on social media and in the comments sections of newspapers. It's as though the country has been given a licence to be nasty..

And Hillary Clinton came in for a great deal of nastiness in the Presidential Election campaign, so it's not confined to the UK either.

Anniebach Tue 11-Jul-17 11:32:40

I share your opinion primrose
