Momentum are getting stronger

There seems to be something rotten at the heart of the current Labour party that holds sway now. John McDonell in particular is a nasty piece of work, among other things, calling for Esther McVey to be lynched. There isn't a rule that says politicians must like their opponents, but incitement to hatred shock Jezza may look benign in a Rasputin sort of a way, but behind the Father Christmas mask, he makes it clear he doesn't allow dissent. Luciana Berger's treatment is appalling, but this party under the current leader has never got to grips with the anti semitism within. Angela Eagle had all manner of slurs thrown at her for her sexuality when she put herself up for leadership a while back. All this from so called "progressive politics". It will be a sad day for democracy if the hard left form a government. This is not about policies, but shutting down debate. A regressive Momentum Labour Party has all the hallmarks of a totalitarian regime.

Exactly sunseeker , their idea of democracy is - do as we say

As I understand it Momentum are seeking to deselect those who have not voiced support for Jeremy Corbyn. When he was a backbencher Corbyn often disagreed and challenged the leadership of the party. So are they saying it is only OK to challenge if your views are the same as theirs? Claim to be in favour of democracy but their actions prove otherwise.

Yep, Momentum and militants ruled

Wait a wee while and the GN Momentum mob will fall on we lifelong Labour supporters, chew up our arguments and spit them out as unrecognisable garbage. Still, my argument is there in plain print to be challenged rationally by anyone who wants to and who can.

Just posted there Baggs

Ah. x threads, annie. Momentum is anti-democracy. See my thread re Luciana Berger.

Kitty, I have spoken of momentum taking over the Labour Party for ages, it is happening and we will not have a Labour Party

I find it jolly scary, Annie.

Luciana Berger who is chair of the Jewish Labour Movement was re-elected in Liverpool with a majority of nearly 33,000

Momentum activists took nine of ten positions in the LP, one new official has said Berger is now answerable to us!

I thought an MP was answerable to her constituency
