You give people less than 15 minutes to agree or disagree?
There is an abundance. There is enough food in the world for everyone to have enough to eat and not starve to death. Tell that to the people of Yemen.
Unfortunately there is not the will to share, which is what I assume GracesGran is referring to.
Tories usually want more than their fair share of any cake, in my opinion.

I Will Deal With It
(711 Posts)If you have a worry/problem or are concerned about an injustice ,voice your concerns and the person you voice them to replies 'I Will Deal With It' what would you expect?
I didn't know his name and when I asked no one would tell me; perhaps they knew that if I did I would have reported him.
As know one has posted to the contrary, it's reasonable to assume that we all agree that "there is an abundance of all that we need and if we share it and realise that most people can have a pretty good life with a bit of cooperation all round almost everyone would be able to have a reasonable life".
Oh GG you don't need to be a doctor, social worker and/or benefits expert to be able to see that a man who uses crutches to aid his walk to a gym and then runs on a treadmill shouldn't be receiving disability benefits.
How many people do you know require crutches to be able to walk but can run on a treadmill?
Re the recent taking of offence about opinions of right of centre to far right views. This is my prejudice in that I have done no research on it so it is based on one persons simple observation (not enough and not tested) - mine.
On this forum I have found those of a more right wing bias to be judgemental and have a 'scarcity' mindset. They appear to believe that we are about to run out of almost everything and we must therefore, hang on to everything we have managed to acquire, give less, take more and not worry about those who are then left in poverty or dealing with disability without out help or the wherewithal to do so.
This is not a moral judgement - I do not think these people are bad - but just as they see my views as wrong I think theirs are. I think there is an abundance of all that we need and if we share it and realise that most people can have a pretty good life with a bit of cooperation all round almost everyone would be able to have a reasonable life.
All poor are deserving dj but not all who claim benefits are genuinely in need for eg. several years ago there was a man who went to the same gym as me. He'd catch the train into town, walk to the gym using 2 crutches, ditch them in the changing rooms and then run on the treadmill. He was receiving disability benefits but clearly didn't deserve them.
Just when did you become a doctor, social worker and benefits expert who was so good at all these things you could simply look at someone and, on the basis of them being at your gym and doing certain exercises must be declared to be not 'genuine' in his need. If it really is that obvious why haven't you done your duty as a citizen towards all other citizen's and reported him?
I didn't think that judges and barristers actually gave legal advice in quite the way that Primrose seemed to be implying. Nugee became a barrister in 1983, if he ever ran any tax advice legal service it must have been before then.
Does having expertise in an area automatically make someone untrustworthy and self seeking?
What's her husband got to do with anything?
He's a high court judge.
Are you saying he fiddles his taxes, and hers?
Labour Party Properties?
Are they not allowed to own their own offices?
Well, her husband is definitely The Hon Mr Justice Nugee. That's not speculation.
And Primrose says she is speculating on the information she puts on about Emily Thornberry!
Gove thinks skwawkbox is okay.
Where do you think Darnsarf gets her information from? Nothing biased, of course. Guido fawkes, probably, or the DM or Telegraph.
To be fair, I obtained the information from The Telegraph
and The Backbencher. Neither are recent, 2013 and 2016 respectively. But I have no doubt that their reportage is as even handed and unbiased as The Guardian and The Mirror.
How did Darnsarf give an example of Labour party tax avoidance?
She just gave her opinion, not an example.
I totally agree darnsarf. I can only speculate that as Emily Thornberry's husband is an off shore trust specialist lawyer, perhaps his expertise in tax avoidance helped them structure things ..... advantageously.
Any links or reports from other than the Guardian or the Mirror? Or squawky.box?
Not that I would consider those two eminent publications at all biased
Fairness? Is it fair that Hillary Benn minimised the inheritance tax in his 4.1 million pounds house by immediately passing it onto his children. Margaret Hodge happens to own shares in a family business that paid only 163,000 tax on revenue of 2.1 billion in 2011. And the Labour party runs a property company called Labour Party Properties Ltd catchy name which earned 8 million pounds in rental income but paid ZERO tax for 8 years. To roughly quote Matthew 7.5 "Why do you look at the speck in your brothers eye but fail to notice the plank in your own?"
"It’s true that MPs’ total incomes, while often significantly more than the average Brit, are just a drop in the ocean compared to major corporations. But MPs are also the ones who set British tax policy, and they have a say in worldwide tax policy. For instance, in January 2016, the Observer revealed that Tory MEPs were lobbying the EU to protect Google’s £30bn tax haven island. The Mirror discovered that 12 top Tory donors were being investigated by HMRC for taking advantage of tax avoidance schemes. It’s clear that there is an overlap here between what benefits the Tories directly and what the rules are in terms of tax avoidance. That’s why we need total transparency for all MPs when it comes to their taxes.
MPs are elected by us to decide how to spend the taxes we pay. Our taxes for pay their salaries, their expenses, their staff, and their homes. They are in the unique position of being paid public money while also deciding how it is spent. This means they have a responsibility to be as transparent as they can with the British people, so that we can hold them to account. We shouldn’t be asking ourselves why Corbyn has published his tax return; we should be asking why Philip Hammond won’t publish his."
Guardian.
I'd just prefer it if everyone paid their taxes and everyone agreed it was a fair share. Before I get attacked on my values or position on tax.
Lowering corporation tax actually increased revenues - there was an article in FT about it. "Treasury collected £56bn from business, a 21% increase on the previous year". It may seem counterintuitive, but it works.
Darnsarf gave an example of the Labour party's tax avoidance dj and you failed to comment on it. Do you really want her to give examples of Labour MP's who haven't paid all they should have, so you can fail to comment on that too?
Tax avoidance has the same effect dj; better to pay less tax than no tax at all.
dj they do not vote for it though. What people say they want and what they vote for are sometimes different.
Examples, please, Darnsarf.
I do not know any Labour MPs who do not pay their taxes.
I hope you can back up what you say.
Sorry, but there's another thread about paying for care, and people on there definitely want to pay more taxes.
The majority of people have said they are prepared to pay higher taxes for a better NHS, so you are just plain wrong.
How pathetic to say anyone who wants to pay more tax can just drop off a bag of money...
Tax is about fairness. How can you not see that?
Maybe the Tories want low taxes so that they have a fighting chance of getting some Labour party MPs to pay any! Quite a few Labour party MPs have shown a disinclination to pay their full share, haven't they? Is it a case of "do as I say, not do as I do" where tax responsibility comes in? They don't exactly set an example of good,,caring, responsible citizenship do they?
