OK I am being sexist, but that Next dress on the front of today's DT really got my day off to a bad start. Fair enough, her pins are pretty good, but a woman of her age does NOT IMO wear a little pink shirt dress suitable for a girl/woman less than half her age several inches above the knee.
Girlish? Yuk!
Say what you like about Michelle Obama or Sam Cam but they knew how to look elegant, whether formally dressed or smart casual.
(Brigitte Macron is another whose determination to look "young" irritates me.There is such a thing as trying TOO hard. )

I like wearing bright coloured socks with sandals. Not just ordinary scruffy socks, though.
(And I'm very trendy and cool, btw.)

Socks and sandals are very in, my old boss would be pleased to know.
Mind you, I don't think he would care, he always wore socks and sandals in the summer grin

Anniebach Wed 02-Aug-17 18:26:52

Perhaps as her company is in Mexico and she is Mexican she spends a lot of time there

Ana Wed 02-Aug-17 18:01:20

I don't think I've ever seen her full stop! Not interested enough to go searching...

petra Wed 02-Aug-17 18:00:38

Off topic again, I know but it was the mention of socks.
Many years ago when I was doing my apprenticeship I fancied one of the compositors like mad. Then one day I got a glimpse of white sock, all passion vanished sad
Please tell me I'm not alone grin

petra Wed 02-Aug-17 17:56:43

Is this why Mrs C is never seen with him grin

Anniebach Wed 02-Aug-17 17:44:31

Gilly, I admit I have worn denim shorts, socks and hiking boots but that was for a walking holiday in Scotland

Jalima1108 Wed 02-Aug-17 17:16:45

Well, they would be comfy
hmm

gillybob Wed 02-Aug-17 17:11:26

Now apparently dresses with trainers are "all the rage" at the minute Jalima. hmm

Jalima1108 Wed 02-Aug-17 17:05:31

X post *gillybob grin

Jalima1108 Wed 02-Aug-17 17:04:59

hmm shorts and socks, what if you're hiking? They sound ideal.

Now, a bright flowery dress with white socks and white trainers is worse.

gillybob Wed 02-Aug-17 17:04:39

and at least Frau Merkel has the fashion sense to wear hiking boots with her shorts and socks Anniebach

Anniebach Wed 02-Aug-17 17:01:35

I will stick with shorts and socks, not even wearing hiking boots

gillybob Wed 02-Aug-17 16:58:48

I can't imagine Mrs C having much of a say in his choice of clothes Smileless or anything else for that matter

Smileless2012 Wed 02-Aug-17 16:55:25

Well if I was Mrs. C. I wouldn't have let him leave the house in the shell suit, never mind shorts and socks.

gillybob Wed 02-Aug-17 16:53:24

Is there anything more sad than shorts and socks ? No

An old man wearing a shell suit perhaps?

They do indeed Ana

devongirl
There's only so much that can be said about that dress, we're moving on.

Ana Wed 02-Aug-17 16:22:31

Threads wander...

Anniebach Wed 02-Aug-17 16:21:09

Is there anything more sad than shorts and socks ? No

devongirl Wed 02-Aug-17 16:17:52

To misquote the Extras episode with Ian McKellen - are we still talking about THE DRESS?

Remember the thread title ladies..

petra Wed 02-Aug-17 16:12:58

I read the other day that some wiedo is trying to make the socks and shorts look fashionable. He wants locking up.

petra Wed 02-Aug-17 16:10:24

gillybob
I could throttle you grin
It's taken me yonks to erase that picture from my mind ( the shell suit) and now I have to start all over again!!

Anniebach Wed 02-Aug-17 15:57:37

Shorts and socks? Hope not smileless

Anniebach Wed 02-Aug-17 15:55:12
