OK I am being sexist, but that Next dress on the front of today's DT really got my day off to a bad start. Fair enough, her pins are pretty good, but a woman of her age does NOT IMO wear a little pink shirt dress suitable for a girl/woman less than half her age several inches above the knee.
Girlish? Yuk!
Say what you like about Michelle Obama or Sam Cam but they knew how to look elegant, whether formally dressed or smart casual.
(Brigitte Macron is another whose determination to look "young" irritates me.There is such a thing as trying TOO hard. )

me neither!!

I can't do scarves either

Anniebach Tue 01-Aug-17 18:04:50

This Brit isn't stylish ?

Jalima1108 Tue 01-Aug-17 17:56:39

Are the Mays and the Merkels going hiking together up a mountain?

Away from cameras and microphones.

That dress looks as if she forgot to put on her trousers! It would be fine on a beach but walking round an Italian city- no way. I can see all the elegant Italian women in their chic linen shift dresses, just the right length, with carefully draped scarves and great jewellery raising their eyebrows and shrugging disdainfully. Come on Theresa, Brexit demands you show them how stylish we Brits are.

Did Angela have on one of her squillions of jackets. Does she own anything else?

Jane10 Tue 01-Aug-17 16:41:49

A side issue but I thought Theresa May looked just right at the Paschendaele memorial. She was wearing a noticeably nice hat (and I'm not a hat fan generally)

Good for her indeed Anniebach she didn't exactly look in the holiday mood though. Not surprising I suppose.

Anniebach Tue 01-Aug-17 09:45:39

Good for her .

gillybob Tue 01-Aug-17 09:29:58

Did anyone see the pictures on itv news of Angela Merkel sitting on a chair lift yesterday? She looked to be really in the holiday spirit . No linen Dress that's for sure .

Lillie Tue 01-Aug-17 09:26:45

How about Angela Merkel's holiday attire then?

Imperfect27 Tue 01-Aug-17 08:28:49

Holiday attire - I still feel 'Just leave the poor woman alone!'

Formal occasion / representing the country attire ... just woman to woman, I would have wanted to give her some kindly advice about the hat she wore at the Passchendaele Service. Was cross with myself for even thinking about it during what was a wonderfully fitting and moving broadcast, but it was so 'unfortunate' it bothered me!

Hasten to add - this still has no link to her competency (or otherwise!!!!!) as our P.M.

Anniebach even on holiday she is the PM and people in Italy would expect her to look reasonably smart. Bella figura doesn't seem to be quite her forte. She's welcome to leave her tights off but I wish she'd use some fake tan on those skinny white legs. Judgemental? Moi? Of course not grin grin

rosesarered Mon 31-Jul-17 17:23:22

Jane grin , I also laughed at your 'tightly encased' comment.

Jane10 Mon 31-Jul-17 16:27:52

OK. Do they make it in size jumbo?

Lazigirl Mon 31-Jul-17 15:49:36

How about we tootle round to Next, purchase said dress and post pics of how we look in it??

Anya Mon 31-Jul-17 15:01:08

Yuk! Pass the bucket gilly

Imperfect27 Sun 30-Jul-17 22:49:58

Ah well Auntieflo, you tried. grin

Chewbacca Sun 30-Jul-17 22:00:20

Oh no Gillybob , please not! grin

Anniebach Sun 30-Jul-17 21:48:52

Gilly, pleeeease grin

Anniebach Sun 30-Jul-17 21:47:53

She isn't a stylish .Italian woman and why should she wear tights if she doesn't choose too?

gillybob Sun 30-Jul-17 21:38:03

Exactly Jane10 do we ever see NS dressed casual on holiday ? Nope !

For that matter I look forward to seeing ( or maybe not) photos of Jeremy Corbyn in his speedos or Frau Merkel in her bikini . grin

mumofmadboys Sun 30-Jul-17 21:37:40

Perhaps we should be pleased that her looks aren't high on her agenda and it gives her more time to concentrate on her job!

Deedaa Sun 30-Jul-17 21:19:10

Only just caught up with this but I do get irritated by Theresa's habit of either wearing flesh coloured or no tights on her spindly legs. The dress wasn't something I would wear, neither is it something a stylish Italian woman of a certain age would wear. I was surprised by her choice of destination as well, Sirmione and Desenzano are rather touristy. I'd have expected her to choose somewhere off the beaten track

Jane10 Sun 30-Jul-17 21:00:37

There are no photos of Nicola Sturgeon in holiday clothes. She's always tightly encased in a suit and with very high heels.
