Very much needed.

First happy thing to report.

Unison have won their case making it illegal to charge employees for employment litigation. Introduced by the Tories in 2013.

The judges quite rightly said it was wrong to make it difficult/impossible for anyone to resort to law.

Those who paid will be reimbursed.

Constant references to the "British Dream". What is the British Dream?
Owning a home?
Or going to food banks?
Zero hours contracts?
Secure jobs with pensions?
British Empire?
Or Brexit?
Could mean anything.......
or be a totally meaningless sound bite .....

How many letters fell off in the end?-I saw 3.

It was pure comedy.

mostlyharmless Wed 04-Oct-17 13:42:11

And the letters on the slogan behind her "building a country that works for everyone" slowly fell off. F was the first to fall off!

mostlyharmless Wed 04-Oct-17 13:39:25

There were standing ovations at the end and at odd points when she paused for breath between coughing fits. Also a lot of concerned and aghast faces, from her cabinet.
Poor Theresa.
More free schools? Did I hear a hundred new Free schools a year? Does anyone think they work?

whitewave Wed 04-Oct-17 13:36:57

maize she had as you would expect a standing ovation, but it was a sympathy vote.

The content of her speech was completely devoid of anything new, except those ideas put forward by Labour.

So do you remember that Marxist policy of fuel price cap argued for by Labour?- May pinched that
Organ donation change -a labour policy- My pinched that.
Student fees change -which is so tepid it is hardly worth the paper it s printed on- forced on May by Labour
Housing needs recognised but a build of 25k over 5years when 2+million are homeless is pathetic.

Nothing else that springs to mind.

It will not save her

mostlyharmless Wed 04-Oct-17 13:33:20

Disaster of a speech. Can she survive?

MaizieD Wed 04-Oct-17 13:14:59

Did her speech have the tory faithful leaping up to give her a standing ovation? (Sorry, I rely on reports, can't bear to watch..)

Tegan2 Wed 04-Oct-17 13:08:47

Thought they'd already promised to do something about energy prices? But hadn't.

whitewave Wed 04-Oct-17 12:53:18

I wondere who gave the chap the security pass? Johnson?

whitewave Wed 04-Oct-17 12:23:51

This is a total car crash,

Security a disaster
Speech content a disaster
Deliverance a disaster

But dogged Maybot is programmed to continue.

whitewave Wed 04-Oct-17 12:14:35

I am beginning to feel sorry for her.

whitewave Wed 04-Oct-17 12:12:11

This speech is a disaster absolutely nothing new just a repeat of past speeches -a complete hour wasted.

whitewave Wed 04-Oct-17 12:06:08

Lots of little tinkering but an absolute dearth of anything substantial.

History lesson looked through the prism of Tory policies. O

whitewave Wed 04-Oct-17 11:51:07

Just watching Mays speech and waiting for the engine of ideas.

yggdrasil Wed 04-Oct-17 11:28:53

If you agree with what May is offering, vote Labour. It is their policies she is stealing, and they have it properly costed.

whitewave Wed 04-Oct-17 10:21:17

Massive U-turn from Thatcher.

What happened to Home owning democracy? Ditched along with anything else that might lose them votes.

Where is the money coming from. Since the election May has spent billion upon billion both in actuality- DUP and in her rhetoric.

They were unable to cost their manifesto -incompetence?-and continue along the same road -wonder what the budget will be like ?

GracesGranMK2 Wed 04-Oct-17 10:10:19

Mrs May is expected to announce plans for a significant expansion in council housing - including measures to make it easier for authorities to get land.

I do hope this isn't the usual drop in the ocean and that they aren't sold off to those with masses of capital.

yggdrasil Wed 04-Oct-17 09:10:20

Not forgetting the Tories talking of JC taking us back to the 1970s, pretending it wasn't Ted Heath who presided over the 3-day week and the oil crisis.
It would be nice if we could undo all the damage done by Thatcher's version of capitalism from 1979 onwards, but at least we have a hope of making a start with Corbyn

durhamjen Wed 04-Oct-17 08:31:26

It's lucky all the plane companies are going bust, then, otherwise we'd be queuing up for cheap flights to Libya.

whitewave Wed 04-Oct-17 08:19:05

Good to know once we’ve have cleared all those rotting bodies out of the way then Libya can then pursue the Capitalistt ideal.

Vote for Boris = a vote for crassness and insensitivity.

durhamjen Tue 03-Oct-17 22:25:09

Oh, well said, GracesGran.
She's not going to complain about it though, because she doesn't notice.

It's nearly as bad as Hunt praising the nurses, even asking for a round of applause for them, then saying he's going to have an app for them so their bosses can ask them to work longer for less pay. He didn't understand, either.

GracesGranMK2 Tue 03-Oct-17 22:20:24

The Bill of Rights is an Act of the Parliament of England that deals with constitutional matters and sets out certain basic civil rights. ... It sets out certain rights of individuals including the prohibition of cruel and unusual punishment ...

Surely what the Tory party are doing to TM comes under this heading?

durhamjen Tue 03-Oct-17 19:15:24

According to Michael Gove, Tories are friends of the earth, as well. I'd better tear up my card and stop my direct debit, then.

durhamjen Tue 03-Oct-17 19:09:28

Jeremy Hunt didn't tell people about this, either, when he was telling everyone how well the NHS was doing in Tory hands.

GracesGranMK2 Tue 03-Oct-17 19:03:09

Quite.
