Very much needed.

First happy thing to report.

Unison have won their case making it illegal to charge employees for employment litigation. Introduced by the Tories in 2013.

The judges quite rightly said it was wrong to make it difficult/impossible for anyone to resort to law.

Those who paid will be reimbursed.

durhamjen Fri 25-Aug-17 18:36:31

Yes, I read that as well, whitewave. Of course, they are saying, not me gov. In the Guardian, too.

GracesGranMK2 Fri 25-Aug-17 20:10:41

It seems to have moved up the news during the day so even the press are taking it seriously. I did see the programme (Channel 4?) about this and they certainly seemed to have a case to answer.

Loosing our democracy - they will be buying votes nexthmm

GracesGranMK2 Fri 25-Aug-17 20:12:27

Does that make the part of Wales where this took place a modern Rotten Boroughs grin

GracesGranMK2 Fri 25-Aug-17 20:12:41

ignore the extra 's'

durhamjen Fri 25-Aug-17 21:31:19

Not yet, according to Private Eye.

durhamjen Fri 25-Aug-17 21:40:15

240,000 38 degrees members have managed to get the NHS reforms in the Guardian.

Whoever you are on here, I hope you are as pleased as I am. Now we just want the rest of the population to take notice and start asking questions.

Pleased somebody's noticed. There are lots of other articles on that link, including ones that show the DWP has targets and that some assessors lie when they make their reports.
The whole area of disability benefits needs to change.

GracesGranMK2 Sat 26-Aug-17 09:15:52

I am so sad that it takes the UN to show this up for what it is. So many in this country simply do not care until they are affected.

durhamjen Sat 26-Aug-17 09:21:56

Six articles from the UN convention on rights for those with disabilities. Six times the government is censured for the way it treats the disabled. Not a good record.

Now this.

Do you really think Mayhem will apologise to parliament for her figures possibly misleading many of the population into voting brexit? I wouldn't like to bet on it.
I hope it does go to a vote of no confidence in her leadership.

whitewave Sat 26-Aug-17 15:41:45

Hmm " knowingly deceived" they are strong words.

Soubry has also tweeted her disgust.

Boris refused to support her in the radio yesterday morning.

We are in for interesting times in the Tory party this autumn and beyond.

No authority from the top means that the children in the playground can run riot and they are.

whitewave Sat 26-Aug-17 16:07:37

Apparently May knew the truth but buried it before the referendum.

More lies.

durhamjen Sat 26-Aug-17 16:12:43

Perhaps May just wants to get out of the mess she's in over Brexit.
She's not going to resign as that would make her look soft, but she is trying her hardest to get voted out.

whitewave Sat 26-Aug-17 16:13:09

George Osborne is calling May a liar - ouch!!

whitewave Sat 26-Aug-17 16:34:24

The conference will be interesting, if she survives that long, although I'm not sure any of them are keen to pick up that poison chalice

durhamjen Sat 26-Aug-17 16:54:22

"Former civil servants also revealed that it was an open secret in Whitehall that the 100,000 figure had no evidence base but the Home Office refused to drop it."

This is interesting, too. Knives really out.

durhamjen Sat 26-Aug-17 19:01:22

Boris's latest u-turn on Brexit.

www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/aug/25/boris-johnson-concedes-uk-will-have-to-pay-for-brexit

More mayhem in the government.

whitewave Sun 27-Aug-17 09:17:35

The mirror is reporting that May it has been reprogrammed to implode on 31/08/19.

I trust the programmers are up to the job. Who knows they may set an incorrect date!

whitewave Sun 27-Aug-17 09:22:57

I see that the UN has accused the Tory government of violating the rights of the disabled along with numerous other people's.

My God! It comes to something doesn't it when what we are reading would have had a middle eastern country or African dictatorship as the perpetrators. But instead it is Britain!!!!

It has been described as a HUMAN CATASTROPHE.

durhamjen Sun 27-Aug-17 09:34:39

whitewave Sun 27-Aug-17 10:10:02

The Tory whips will be working 24/7 this autumn!! grin

I hear Maybot is busy on a charm offensive at Chequers.

Can't imagine that a weekend with Maybot is exactly a laugh a minute hmm

durhamjen Sun 27-Aug-17 11:18:00

Just been reading that 50% of the vets in this country are foreign.
That's not just the ones that look after your pets, but those who work for food agencies and check on food safety and animal welfare on farms.
That's rather a lot of people to annoy by telling them to go home and stop taking our jobs.
How long does it take to train a homegrown vet?

durhamjen Sun 27-Aug-17 11:21:04

Here's something else that the population as a whole should know.

www.thecanary.co/2017/08/24/heres-list-top-tory-election-donors-theresa-may-ashamed/

Who funds the Tory party?

whitewave Sun 27-Aug-17 11:23:18

Blimey!! You can tell a person by the friends he keeps

That is an embarrassing list

About the government's record on disability.

Welshwife Sun 27-Aug-17 14:52:33

Every abbatoir has to have a vet in attendance to oversee the treatment of the animals. It is not a job British vets want to do - currently over 90% of these vets are Europeans - mainly Spanish. Even training more in the UK may not solve the problem if these vets leave UK.
