Very much needed.

First happy thing to report.

Unison have won their case making it illegal to charge employees for employment litigation. Introduced by the Tories in 2013.

The judges quite rightly said it was wrong to make it difficult/impossible for anyone to resort to law.

Those who paid will be reimbursed.

The European Parliament's chief Brexit co-ordinator Guy Verhofstadt tweeted: "British Parliament takes back control. European and British Parliament together will decide on the final agreement. Interests of the citizens will prevail over narrow party politics. A good day for democracy."

“this is not about a government defeat, but a parliamentary victory”

Absolutely, we have one queen, we don't need a pretender.

Is this the first time MPs are debating Brexit properly in the Commons? Good debate for once.
I see Stephen Hammond has since been sacked (as Vice Chair of the Conservative party) for rebelling though.

Faisal Islam tweeted “for anyone who watches parliament regularly, they will be aware of a subtle change , e.g. John Mann impeccable leave credentials has come out for the Norway option.”

Sarah Wollaston “this is not about a government defeat, but a parliamentary victory”

Anna Soubry tweeted “ I put the interests of everyone in the U.K. this evening and voted for A7”

whitewave Wed 13-Dec-17 19:45:50

12 Tory rebels - Faisal has listed them.

I would like to send them my heartfelt thanks.

And Davis - impossible, as he never knows what he is talking about anyway.

whitewave Wed 13-Dec-17 19:38:49

Difficult for May now as she can’t guarantee anything off her own back to Brussels until she’s spoken to parliament, and rightly so.

mostlyharmless Wed 13-Dec-17 19:35:29

About twelve Tory rebels and the Labour Brexiteers voted against the Government.
Dominic Grieve is the hero of the hour.

whitewave Wed 13-Dec-17 19:18:30

309 to 304

The country rules ok

varian Wed 13-Dec-17 19:17:24

4 votes!! The Tory Remainers have redeemed themselves.

whitewave Wed 13-Dec-17 19:16:35

Yes yes!!

Tory defeated.

Democracy rules ok

Welshwife Wed 13-Dec-17 19:16:22

Grieve has turned out to be a star in this latest fracas. He has sense.

whitewave Wed 13-Dec-17 19:12:40

I think the government is confident sad

varian Wed 13-Dec-17 19:10:00

How can any vote on "the deal" be meaningful if it happens only after we have left the EU? It would be utterly meaningless.

Did those who voted to "take back control" want control to be in the hands of parliament (as it always has been) or in the hands of a government voted in by a minority and representing vested interests, not the British people?

whitewave Wed 13-Dec-17 18:59:01

Nail biting time. I suspect .the rebels will chicken out as usual but one can live in hope

whitewave Wed 13-Dec-17 18:41:37

I recommend Grieves speech it is outstanding and utterly unanswerable, and this government knows it.

whitewave Wed 13-Dec-17 18:35:59

How can anyone trust this government to keep its word on the meaningful vote after the bullshit of the 58 assessments?

whitewave Wed 13-Dec-17 18:33:43

Grieve - good speech
“Difficulty with this referendum is that we are losing sight that 48% did not vote for the policy we are pursuing”

At long last someone who recognises our existence

whitewave Wed 13-Dec-17 13:57:24

I see Anne Marie Morris has had the Tory whip restored even though she used utterly foul racist language.

Of course they can’t afford to loose a single mp can they.

Party above morals

durhamjen Tue 12-Dec-17 20:47:18

This is very apt.

Can't wait for the corollary. Good to see she will not be bullied, particularly as she knows what she is talking about.
I think I said before she is listed as the 8th most important political blogger.

durhamjen Tue 12-Dec-17 19:59:38

He was asked to resign over that a few days ago.
Of course, he ignored the request!

Ilovecheese Tue 12-Dec-17 19:58:01

So Philip Hammond is telling employers that their productivity is likely to go down if they employ someone with a disability.

That will help people with a disability into work will it?
