Very much needed.

First happy thing to report.

Unison have won their case making it illegal to charge employees for employment litigation. Introduced by the Tories in 2013.

The judges quite rightly said it was wrong to make it difficult/impossible for anyone to resort to law.

Those who paid will be reimbursed.

Some interesting local news.

www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/closed-blyth-job-centre-suddenly-13553685

Looks like the landlord omitted to tell the DWP that they were going to take over their offices. Why does the DWP not own its own offices?

"What me and my government are about...."
She should definitely be sacked for that. Can you imagine all those kids next week; what me and my friends did in the holidays, and being roundly told off by their teachers.

durhamjen Thu 31-Aug-17 15:12:35

They are going to deal with injustices that remain inside the United Kingdom.
Really? They've added a lot to that list - so many, in fact, that it will take them all of this parliament to deal with them.

durhamjen Thu 31-Aug-17 19:36:35

A group of Tories are running a website which they think is going to put them on a level with Corbyn's use of social media.
These are the people who are hoping to be able to become MPs in the future. This is what they think is good to write.

For those who refuse to read links, here are some extracts from a similar article in the Independent regarding the online conduct of supporters of the newly formed Young Conservatives group, Activate:

Young Conservative activists joked about “gassing chavs” and “shooting peasants” in a string of disturbing WhatsApp messages. ...

"During the conversation, one member refers to an event as a “fine opportunity to observe the spice homo chav”.

Another immediately replies: “And gas them all.”

"The first activist then jokes that he or she is “gonna run some medical experiments on them” before the second adds: “We could use them as substitutes for animals when testing.”

"The first suggests “experiments” could be conducted “to see why they are so good at producing despite living rough”.

"Realising the direction the chat has taken, he adds: “Okay we gotta be careful otherwise this is turning [in]to a Nazi chat."

"Responding to the leak, an Activate spokesperson told The Independent: “None of the people included in those messages currently have any seniority with the organisation."

The Mail reported:

"An Activate spokesman apologised for the offense caused by the 'sickening' messages and said those behind them are being kicked out the group."

durhamjen Fri 01-Sept-17 18:54:43

Activate appears to have closed down already!

whitewave Fri 01-Sept-17 19:06:25

The answer to replacing Mayhem.

durhamjen Sat 02-Sept-17 09:56:07

Activate just changed their name to Our CONviction.
Really?

whitewave Sat 02-Sept-17 20:38:41

Labour won North Worle

21% swing - wow!!!

whitewave Sat 02-Sept-17 20:41:25

Is that part of JRMs constituency? Wonder if they are trying to tell the Tory party something?

whitewave Sun 03-Sept-17 11:10:26

Poll

Labour 43%

Tory 38%

whitewave Sun 03-Sept-17 11:12:11

Lots of talk about a leadership challenge to Maybot.

Not sure she has anything to worry about as who on earth is there to replace her?

durhamjen Sun 03-Sept-17 11:13:18

No, it isn't Rees-Moggs, but it is a Tory MP, one I haven't heard of. Hadn't realised that Fox is from Somerset, too.

whitewave Sun 03-Sept-17 11:20:23

Fox is irrelevant.

durhamjen Sun 03-Sept-17 11:29:01

Our Conviction has now become VicTory.
They are getting desperate to find a blue Momentum.

Britain trails Poland, Baltic states, and parts of former Yugoslavia on education spending

Unless those who support the Tories far-right small-state mantra think we have suddenly become poorer than Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, and Slovenia surely even they can see that the need for so called 'Austerity' doesn't exist; it is simply the ideology of the far-right who have been in power for far too long.

durhamjen Sun 03-Sept-17 12:53:48

This is also caused by Tory right-wing ideology.

www.theguardian.com/society/2017/sep/01/poverty-is-at-the-heart-of-mental-health-crisis

durhamjen Sun 03-Sept-17 13:16:31

"The latest YouGov survey puts Labour a staggering 54% ahead of the Tories among 18 to 24 year olds.

Yet, instead of thinking that maybe it was their decisions to massively hike tuition fees , scrap housing benefits for 18-21 year olds, cut the Education Maintenance Allowance and reduce funding for youth mental health services, they believe hearts and minds can be won with “memes and funny images”.

Not that I’m complaining. I can’t wait for the Activate ball at next month’s conference, when the turns will include stand-up from Theresa May (riffing on all the wheat fields she ran through), Michael Gove as his own ventriloquist dummy, Katie Hopkins sawing an asylum-seeker in half, and a cast of chinless wonders, champagne flutes in hand, pogoing to The Jam.

And me thinking, like Paul Weller did when David Cameron named Eton Rifles as his favourite tune: “Which bit of that don’t you get?” "

From The Mirror.

GracesGranMK2 Sun 03-Sept-17 13:19:02

I would really like someone from the right to explain why, as the fifth richest country in the world, we spend less, percentage wise on so much of the support provided by the tax payer. It is true of education, health and many other areas. He may not be leading it but this is the government of Rees-Mogg and his far-left views.

whitewave Sun 03-Sept-17 13:35:56

grin far right gg

Tegan2 Sun 03-Sept-17 13:44:57

Didn't see it myself but the S.O. says David Davies [sp] said on tv this morning that TM is a 'great' PM. confused. Must be delusional.

durhamjen Sun 03-Sept-17 13:59:58

David Davis also kept laughing when challenged by Andrew Marr, his default when made to feel uncomfortable in interviews - the equivalent of, "Don't worry your little head about it."
