I thought I would start this thread to enable those who are enthusiastic Brexiters, to educate us Europhiles and show that our worries are silly and uniformed.

We hear so little from you, except to criticise our worries.

We have so many threads about the negative effects why not have one which shows the positive effects that leaving the EU will come about?

Don't have to wait for Brexit.

I'm only quoting the Representative of the motoring association gilly I assume he has his finger on the button.

Gordon Brown wasn't the liar.At the time we were all told that diesel was safer than petrol for the environment.
I'd be very surprised if he knew differently and lied about it.

Brexit is not necessarily to blame for the decline in car and van sales ww . Employers have cut right back in their company cars as have fleet buyers . We are due to replace one vehicle ( yes I know only one) but we are holding back very reluctant as too much insecurity over diesel and petrol run vehicles and how they will de-value quicker than ever before . Company vehicle tax has gone up significantly and we have already seen P11D values shoot up , even though we were told by Gordon Brown to buy diesel. They're all bloody liars !

"Hawes said he does not believe people have understood that Britain’s free trade deals with 57 other countries through the EU’s current agreements will also fall away after Brexit. And he found particularly frustrating the “misguided” view expressed by some prominent leave campaigners that the German car industry would press chancellor Angela Merkel to give the UK a good EU deal, because they export in significant numbers to Britain.

“We consistently said do not expect that. The European market and to a certain extent the European project is more important to them than the UK, so they want to safeguard the four freedoms which benefit them. If any sector has really benefitted from growth and development across Europe, it’s the German car industry. It is frustrating and it also reveals a lack of understanding of the way markets operate.” "

Decline in car manufacturing already.

"Since the decline of British-owned car companies in the 1980s, the UK automotive industry has been rebuilt by overseas manufacturers investing in operations based on frictionless integration of products and people with other European countries, and no tariffs or regulatory barriers. SMMT’s most recent figures state that 814,000 people are employed in the UK industry, which in 2015 turned over £72bn and exported £34bn worth of products, with 56% of car exports and 65% of components going to EU countries. Recently the SMMT announced that investment in the first six months of this year had reduced to just £322m, from a total of £1.66bn invested last year and £2.5bn in 2015."

SMMT.

Start of the phoney war as far as farming is concerned, according to John Harris.

Interesting article by Andrew Adonis.

He says that the civil service lacks the capacity to negotiate bespoke trade deals.

Of course we know that at present the government la ks the capacity to do anything but wage war within itself.

That took control on your part, well done missus.

Mike Hawes of the motoring manufacturing wrote about the difficulties being faced by the car manufacturing industry.

Car sales continue to decline and July sales dropped by 10% on average in the UK.

The industries view is that they would prefer Brexit didn't happen, but failing that disaster they say any agreement is better than none.

"From our point of view, we'd be better off to stay. If the electorate decided to (leave) they maybe didn't understand the economic arguments or didn't appreciate how sever the impact was going to be. We need to revisit this, then we can make clear what the situation is"

What are you on about Re my Gardner using chlorine.
@20.37 whitewave said because they are reared in filthy crowded inhumane conditions
@20.54 you replied maybe Petra lives like that as well, whitewave. That's why she isn't worried about chlorine
Although the Gardner does come in contact with chlorine when he cleans the pool.

durhamjen Fri 04-Aug-17 22:31:26

Why would your gardener use chlorine?

petra Fri 04-Aug-17 22:27:05

durhamjen
Then I'm paying my cleaners and Gardner for nothing grin
They would find your post as amusing as I do because they always say "but there's nothing to do"
But I like to spread the wealth, don't you?

durhamjen Fri 04-Aug-17 20:54:44

Imported as feed for animals, not for human consumption.

As far as I am concerned it is the fact that the chickens need to be washed because they are reared in filthy crowded inhumane conditions

petra Fri 04-Aug-17 20:20:37

jalima
Very true Re our farmers.

Jalima1108 Fri 04-Aug-17 20:19:17

I thought so, but it is difficult to find out.

petra Fri 04-Aug-17 20:18:37

jalima
There are a lot of GM foods imported into Europe, maize from America for one. But there are many many more.

Jalima1108 Fri 04-Aug-17 20:18:35

I would be more concerned about the import of American chickens putting our own poultry farmers out of business than anything else.
