EXCLUSIVE: New CCTV footage reveals Jeremy Corbyn told truth about 'Traingate'

I think someone owes Corbyn an apology. It won't happen of course but at least this may balance the story the owners of the news wanted us to hear.

How can you be 100% against communism and yet call yourself a socialist?

durhamjen Sun 27-Aug-17 16:44:42

Who are these people with strong communist beliefs who deny they are communists?
You are accusing without proof again, Annie.

nigglynellie Sun 27-Aug-17 16:44:15

Not surprised I lost the thread! a) I do have better things to do than sit glued to GN every waking hour, and b) like a lot of threads that meander on and on, and on, it has become a tad tedious! [yawn]

trisher Sun 27-Aug-17 16:44:10

Only after this thread Baggs it's made me realise some people really don't care about others and actually want them to suffer because they didn't do something which they might not have been able to do anyway. I suppose it's made me really disillusioned and hard. I apologise to everyone who does want the same things as I do, but there have been so few posts to make me feel things can or will be changed. I really do think this is age related, most of the young people I know who travel by train want things to change.

Jalima1108 Sun 27-Aug-17 16:43:25

and am more likely to be found on an old steam train anyway.

Jalima1108 Sun 27-Aug-17 16:43:08

I hold up my hands!
I have never been on that route.

durhamjen Sun 27-Aug-17 16:42:14

But, Jalima, don't they compartmentalise the trains now just for that?
Those going to Edinburgh sit in carriages ABC, those going to Newcastle DEF, etc.?
So that the train can align the correct carriages to the platform.
No problem at York or Newcastle, but Durham only has an up and a down line, anyway. Durham Station is owned by Virgin!

Jalima1108 Sun 27-Aug-17 16:41:41

I do think the floors are cleaner than in the olden days when the railways were in public ownership.
They were quite filthy then. And the seats were quite smelly too. And sometimes we had to sit on our cases as there were no seats.
And they broke down and just sat there for hours (no refreshment car, no transport by bus offered).

Chewbacca Sun 27-Aug-17 16:40:37

Likewise Primrose. And to not rely on anyone else to sort stuff out for them. And if they don't sort their stuff out and have to compromise on comfort or efficiency, not to bleat on that "it's not fair!"

Ana Sun 27-Aug-17 16:40:00

Or have you forgotten about that accusation now?

Anniebach Sun 27-Aug-17 16:38:25

I do not use the word communist as an insult, I am 100% against communism but fully accept communist beliefs are now more freely expressed , just for some strange reason some with strong communist beliefs deny they support communism and want this country to become a communism run country. No idea why, it isn't illegal to hold these beliefs

Ana Sun 27-Aug-17 16:38:23

But where are these 'attacks' on your nicely brought up son, Durhamjen?

Jalima1108 Sun 27-Aug-17 16:38:15

They will be able to put on more carriages when the platforms are extended (I think there are some posts about that on this thread).

Work in Progress.

Primrose65 Sun 27-Aug-17 16:37:13

I certainly taught mine to be intellectually superior and book their seats.

durhamjen Sun 27-Aug-17 16:36:27

I agree, trisher.
Virgin are talking about extending the eastcoast mainline to include Sunderland. That means putting on another train.
Anyone who knows the northeast knows that you can get a train to Newcastle, then get the metro to Sunderland.
So why not just put another carriage on the train to Newcastle so everyone can sit down?
If that's too difficult to think of, just renationalise the railways, much simpler. Then we will be able to catch any train at any time for 18% less, I think it was.
The profits will be kept in the country, rather than going to keep Branson and friends in the style to which they are accustomed.

Chewbacca Sun 27-Aug-17 16:33:35

Maybe some of us raised our sons to grab the elderly and infirm by the back of their necks and hurl them into the aisle, before sitting down quickly?

durhamjen Sun 27-Aug-17 16:31:28

Good, Jalima. I am sure there are a few other nicely brought up sons who would not turf elderly people out of their train seats.
The others, I shudder to think about.

Baggs Sun 27-Aug-17 16:31:07

I have the same want with regard to an efficient transport system, trisher, and I've had to sit on the floor of a train with young kids more than once (both when trains were nationalised and when they were not) but I don't find that an excuse to look down on my fellows the way your snotty post suggested you do.

Jalima1108 Sun 27-Aug-17 16:30:50

its without an apostrophe before I get transferred to the naughty step.

Jalima1108 Sun 27-Aug-17 16:30:18

Surely it was,all it needed was a few croc tears and a violin.
I can provide both lemongrove
Oh, not so sure about the croc tears as I have never been that close to one to catch its' tears but DH has grin

lemongrove Sun 27-Aug-17 16:29:28

Let us assume that we all have nicely brought up sons.

lemongrove Sun 27-Aug-17 16:28:52

More violins needed soon.

Jalima1108 Sun 27-Aug-17 16:28:33

Your son sounds as nicely brought up as mine djen

smile

trisher Sun 27-Aug-17 16:27:39

Baggs my "attitude" is based on wanting an efficient transport system that serves the public (which is what it is meant to do) and isn't some sort of lottery where getting a seat depends on pure chance or knowing more than the next person. I have always assumed that most people would want a similar thing. It is a shock to me to find that people are quite happy to see families, young people and the old standing or sitting on the floor because they didn't book a seat. As I have said people travel without booking for all sorts of reasons. I did so myself for example when my mum was living elsewhere and was admitted to hospital after a stomach haemorrhage. Apparently I should have waited and booked a seat on a train instead of having to stand on the first one I could get on.

Chewbacca Sun 27-Aug-17 16:26:30

Then you really must report the attacks on your 40 year old son durham!
