Being keen to trade freely with the rest of the world is hardly isolationist! Shedding the chain's of the ever increasing dictatorial autocratic closed shop of the EU will be a breath of fresh air for this country. I can see that ambitious politicians on all sides will be miffed at being denied top EU jobs and the gravy train that accompanies them, but as they say, tough!! Odd how Mr Corbyn has, after decades of opposition so wholeheartedly embraced the EU!! Oh well, end justifies the means I guess when you're an ambitious politician just a whisker away from the top job. It's so strange how power changes peoples outlook! Look at Aung Sun Suu Kyi? Who would have dreamed of her changed attitudes, quite unbelievable and deeply disturbing.

You do post rubbish niggly. Corbyn has only ever said he was something like he was 70% pro so he did not 'wholeheartedly embrace' the EU. Like, I would guess, the actual majority who were/are not 100% for or against, apparently he could see there were some good reasons on both sides of the argument although I have to admit I usually find the leavers arguments were reduced to lies and a great deal of emoting.

What he did do is say that the LP would follow the democratic vote. Having said that democracy is a moving object so it will be interesting to see what happens if there is a sea-change in the country.

Can anyone tell us who is queuing up to do a deal with the UK's when it leaves the EU? If there is a queue I have failed to notice.

Who said people who oppose Brexit are the far left? Are all the people wishing to leave the far right? For my self I would consider I am left of centre and always have been.

Politicians from all parties tell lies! It goes with the territory and always has. Promises at election time conveniently forgotten; In opposition exactly the same, but on coming to power, it's nearly always a different story. nigglienellie Corbyn was officially a Remainer before the referendum (although a lukewarm EU supporter) but now respects the referendum result. Theresa May also campaigned for Remain (again lukewarm) but now is attempting to push through Brexit.
How come you are criticising Corbyn but not May for changing stance on EU? The end justifies the means for Tories too???

I've had a look at some of the 7 LP members who voted with the govt., and they seem to be reflecting the views of their constituents.
Especially Ronnie Campbell, the MP for my home town.
The far NE voted almost en bloc to Leave.
There was a note to one link that it was an anti-Cameron vote.

Its obvious from that link that DS knows exactly what's wrong with the eu. I.e. Eastern European workers being exploited by people like Mike Ashley.

Everyone knows that, petra, apart from May. When asked to condemn Ashley last week in PMQs she refused to.

You're right dj Dennis Skinner doesn't lie, and should be commended for it not called unpleasant names.
Theresa May was a remainer but unlike JC was appointed when DC ran for the hills to steer this country through brexit which she has agreed to do. JC has had no responsible reason to change the view he held for 30 years except political party expediency.

Mirror says 14 Labour voters abstained; is this correct?

So if 14 Labour MP's abstained and 7 supported it, that's 21, quite a lot.
It was discussed on The Daily Politics and the conclusion was that Corbyn was being opportunistic in trying to defeat the Government, when in fact he agrees that we need to get on with things.

No, only 11 abstained, which surprisingly included Caroline Flint.
2 had to not vote because they are on the committee, so I presume that is the same for two of the tories, and Anna Turley was ill, as was a tory.
So that means there must have been five tories who abstained.

Apparently his parliamentary colleagues have referred to him as a 'Scab' because he voted with the government. I can see they were annoyed, but 'Scab' is pretty unpleasant even by far left standards.

We are all entitled to our opinions and I have no objections to that but you write as if your are facts and they often bear no resemblance to the facts. Belligerent pontification rather than discussion.
