And I wonder how you can be such a wonderful Catholic and support every single benefit cut made since he became an MP? He has a stellar voting record based on let the poor be even poorer - that well known Christian principle.
ilove you are being too kind - when the story hit the headlines he very robustly defended he investment decision because it was best for the investors. I can imagine he didn't know before that but really you'd think a jolly clever chap like him might think to find out what his company's funds are invested in wouldn't you. Especially with his being such a moral, principalled decentbtype. I'm sure he's done it to further his political ambitions
I'm not a fan of his, but perhaps he didn't know that the company made abortion pills, just took the dividends, and when he found out he sold the shares.
I hardly dare ask durham but have you a link to that? Seems a strange volte-face after what he said earlier in justification of keeping the invested funds. Wow wait a minute - you don't think he"s preparing for a <whispers> leadership bid
Rees-Mogg's company has sold its shares in the abortion pill company. Don't anyone say that pressure doesn't work. Now all we need do is pressurise him to take his companies out of tax havens.
I very seriously think that it would be really interesting if you were to start a thread about capitalism, Baggs so that we could all really think about it and explore the topic.
Good idea, maiz. I'll get a bit further into what I'm reading on the subject first.
Homeless families may not rot in gutters but they rot in one room in bed and breakfast accommodation with shared washing/toilet facilities and very little access to cooking facilities.
I wonder how easy it will be to spot if a mistake has been made with one of the benefits, if you are entitled to more than one, and how easy it will be to get that corrected.
Here is an explanation of the 6 benefits and universal credits, Baggs. They apply to people both in work and out of work. Any of these benefits, that someone is entitled to, will be made into one payment of Universal Credit.
Universal Credit is a single monthly payment for people in or out of work.
It replaces some of the benefits and tax credits that you might be getting now:
Housing benefit Child Tax Credit Income support Working Tax Credit Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance Income-related Employment and Support Allowance You might be invited to claim Universal Credit if you live in England, Scotland or Wales.
Universal Credit is due to be introduced in Northern Ireland in September 2017.
This is going through the European Court of Justice. No wonder people like Rees-Mogg want out of the EU and the ECJ. He is not a Victorian philanthropist, just Victorian.
