Dear Gransnetters
I am making a sincere request for any ideas and policies you think might help me and my government cling on to power keep the country on a strong and stable path. We are willing to consider anything. Sajid has already launched a housing idea, Michael is busy searching through Jeremy's bins for cast offs and Boris has promised to keep his nose out of things is focussing on foreign policy. But I am sure some of you have really good ideas. Don't worry about u-turns I am willing to swivel 360% and more if it will keep me in power is in the country's interests. So please send them to me. Desperately Seeking Solutions Theresa @No.10

Perhaps you could also have an enquiry into this council. It has a Tory MP, so you will probably not want one, but it might not have a Tory MP at the next election if the council show as much disdain for the voters as they have done up til now.

politicalscrapbook.net/2017/10/scandal-hit-tory-council-sparks-four-police-probes-in-one-month/

On the other hand, perhaps they are just taking a lead from Tory MPs anyway.

durhamjen Fri 27-Oct-17 23:44:36

I would like them to stay long enough to listen to all these syllabuses from university lecturers about Brexit.

politicalscrapbook.net/2017/10/heaton-harris-gets-absolutely-schooled-over-brexit-letter-as-academics-strike-back-with-satire/

Perhaps Mrs May could have a debate on it.

Charleygirl Fri 27-Oct-17 21:56:32

durhamjen that would empty the house faster than the results of my cooking. MPs lying- surely not. Are they not fine, upstanding men and women or have I got all wrong as usual?

durhamjen Fri 27-Oct-17 20:42:48

I would be pleased if you could stand up in Parliament and tell all the other MPs about this admission, then call the Brexit vote invalid.

kittysjones.wordpress.com/2017/10/27/leave-director-admitted-the-brexit-referendum-was-won-by-lying-to-the-public/

Failing that, could you try and pass a law that says anyone found lying to parliament will have the whip removed - or even be whipped out of the house.

trisher Fri 27-Oct-17 20:09:13

Charleygirl it is can-do attitudes like yours that epitomise the true spirit of Britain.
dj don't worry we can soon adjust the requirements. After all the specifications for room sizes have beenreduced adjusted.
JessM Immigrants sleeping 12 to a room? Goodness me a solution to the housing crisis.
Far North Boris tells me there is no security problem and I would find lots of people who would jump at the chance of a bed in No10.

FarNorth Fri 27-Oct-17 15:58:52

Safeguard Chequers and No 10? That's easy, it would threaten National Security to have lodgers there.

Anyway, just make it voluntary, and keep going with the great policies you already have, and you'll soon find lots of non-rich people will be looking to join in with this.

The just-about-managing will be so grateful to you.

JessM Fri 27-Oct-17 15:00:30

It's a cunning plan to keep London running. Welcome in immigrants who are willing to sleep 6 to a room, because how else can you afford a roof over your head in central London if you are working in Costa or the House of Parliament coffee bars? Credit where it's due Teresa, you are after all our ex-home-secretary. It's worked a treat. However you need a better plan if you're to keep the Old Lady ticking over. No good discouraging those hard working and long-suffering immigrants from popping over from the EU. Unless maybe your buddies want to ship in people who are even easier to exploit, who will be willing to sleep 12 to a room...

durhamjen Fri 27-Oct-17 11:21:06

Have you had a look at the rooms on carerooms?
I'd need to pay more than I'd be getting to get my spare room up to that standard!

Charleygirl Fri 27-Oct-17 11:16:42

I personally could make a fortune- I could not guarantee a bed and separate room for everyone after hospital discharge but I do have comfortable chairs and a sofa that has two reclining feet, and that is not including the beds upstairs but my cat has her own room- still for £50 she would not mind sharing I am sure. Also who needs 3 microwavable meals each day? Two would be more than sufficient. Got to cut down on costs somewhere and nutrition should not come into the discussion.

trisher Fri 27-Oct-17 11:11:31

There I knew GN would be helpful. I shall pitch the idea asap-oh hang on is there a way I can safeguard No. 10 and Chequers? I mean I do care about the poor and homeless, but there are limits (I have heard Boris has some space)

FarNorth Fri 27-Oct-17 11:04:34

That's encouraging to know, Charley.
So, TM, you can get that idea out of cold storage again. I'm sure people will soon get used to your convalescent lodgers idea, also, when they realise the alternatives benefits to them.

Charleygirl Fri 27-Oct-17 10:55:55

trisher I am afraid that your idea for housing the homeless in garden sheds is up and running in my neck of the woods, NW London. There are helicopters which fly around seeking heat from said garden sheds to identify culprits. One house also had 28 people living inside, I hope that they worked shifts or it would have been a tad overcrowded. Still, look at the money that can be made and one does not have to do it for long to make dosh.

MaizieD Fri 27-Oct-17 10:37:18

Will do, Mrs May.
I have my trusty Swiss Army Knife with me at all times. I'll use it if necessary...

trisher Fri 27-Oct-17 10:15:02

MaizieD I really do sympathise. It must be terrible. Couldn't you just stay down south? I mean I know that there are people up north, but I didn't realise they had cars.
Thank you for your support on Brexit. There are a lot of people behind me. Would you mind keeping an eye open for any knives?

MaizieD Fri 27-Oct-17 09:56:45

Dear Mrs May. I think you should really do something about the traffic on the A1. It took me 7 hours on Wednesday to do a journey that normally takes 5. Can you get it sorted by tomorrow when I'm driving back up north. I'm asking you this because I'm a regular reader of the Daily Mail and I see from the BTL comments that it isn't at all necessary to say anything relevant to the topic being discussed
P.S I'm a little bit worried by the different messages that come out each day about Brexit but I know that your firm and unwavering determination to Leave at all costs (however much they might ruin our economy) will have the whole thing sorted out pretty soon and I'm right behind you. xx

trisher Fri 27-Oct-17 09:46:07

Charleygirl I did have a brilliant idea for housing the homeless for Christmas that involved everyone who had a nice garden shed or a garage to spare, but the backlash about the spare rooms for hospital discharges has made me think again. (Well it was that and that someone suggested we should start with No10 and Chequers -there are limits you know)
dj hubby has just rushed out to see someone. I think I heard him mutter something under his breath about "Getting Gideon" I am uncertain if this is some sort of religious revelation or something else.
JessM I am here and looking for advice. But I have a feeling that some on GN do not take this seriously and are not as dedicated to Strong and Stable as they might be.

Please can you ensure that we stay in the EU until after this tax problem has been resolved?

www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2017/10/26/the-eu-competition-commissioners-welcome-move-against-uk-government-tax-abuse/

You should appreciate it as it's a problem that Osborne caused.
You might want to warn hubby, though, as I am sure he works for companies that use tax havens.

Charleygirl Thu 26-Oct-17 22:55:06

My apologies for harping back about our lack of decent houses and flats. If we build on every available blade of grass, then these houses and flats could be sold for a song after a short time as council property and then we are back to square one again. Is that not what Margaret T wanted?

FarNorth Thu 26-Oct-17 22:41:20

I think it's great that you're hanging on in there, Theresa, to stave off the chance of Boris getting in as PM.
That's one good thing you're doing for us although it's not an official policy.

JessM Thu 26-Oct-17 22:34:51

Almost feel sorry for you Theresa. There was 'im indoors urging you to go for the top job. And there you were, working so hard and then dodging and weaving and hiding in the girls toilet during the referendum campaign. And then it seemed like your prayers had been answered when the candidates who stood against you for the leadership were such a joke... But then you realised that working hard was not enough to sort out Brexit. And then your hubby talked you into that embarrassing election. So here you are, up to your neck in vipers and creepycrawlies. A word of advice - stop taking your husband's advice and pop over to GN next time you have a big decision to make.

mostlyharmless Thu 26-Oct-17 21:50:18

Dear Theresa
It sounds as if you feel that Dear David and his good friend George deliberately abandoned Downing Street leaving for others the impossible situation of guiding the country through Brexit.

Did you not realise that it was a poisoned chalice when you put your name forward as party leader?

Aren't you tempted to run away and leave the role to some other gullible ambitious Tory? Or perhaps you are just sabotaging the process until everyone agrees that Brexit is impossible to achieve without severely damaging the UK's economy?

You deserve an early retirement after all this juggling and manoeuvring. I'm sure the fact that you're a WASPI woman won't bother you too much as I expect DH has a bit put by.

trisher Thu 26-Oct-17 21:14:28

JessM A lot of my friends are consultants, or have children who are consultants and they need to work you know. I'm just keeping the employment numbers up.
Iam64 I have great problems with the Northern Poor House it was the legacy of that slimy weasel my colleague George Osborne. And he of course jumped ship with the other rat David Cameron. I do wonder sometimes if they knew something I didn't.
As for my bed scheme, it seemed like a brilliant idea after an evening out.

Iam64 Thu 26-Oct-17 19:10:47

Theresa - I stand by my comments about the northern poor house, though I do understand why trisher may feel offended by this (realistic) description of our northern regions. I'm a Lancashire lass, with ancestors from maternal and paternal families who worked in the cotton mills. One grannie grew up in Ancoats and had her 3rd baby I the Sally Army hospital. Tough times eh. I don't say it's as grim as that up north these days but - we lack transport that's affordable and effective. We need investment in our infrastructure, in our wonderful former cotton towns where there is little employment and those int'south send us their poor and their asylum seekers because our rents are cheaper. We don't mind these people being shipped in, we're a friendly welcoming lot - but please can we have some investment so these new comers and our grandchildren can find work.
Plus - this notion that we take in the folks that don't fit the criteria/there isn't enough social care beds to look after them once the hospitals decide they need "social" not "nursing" care should come and live with just about anyone who has a spare room, for £50 a night , well it's nonsense isn't it. Think on lass!

durhamjen Thu 26-Oct-17 18:43:33

She might go into a decline if you talk to her like that, Jess - although I do agree with you.
