Why hasn't she been sacked already? She goes in holiday, holds 10 meetings with a range of senior figures, including BN without telling the FO and even worse, suggesting that BJ knew about it in advance. Downing Street says she has been reminded ' of the obligations which exist under the ministerial code ' -oh you mean doing what you want in foreign countries and then lying about it?

Over 1,036,000 agree with Richard Ratcliffe that she is innocent and have signed his petition to call on May to get her free.
He is on Newsnight, talking to someone who was in the same prison as his wife.
Of course, lemon and Day6 know differently. They appear to be the only ones who do.

I did think Boris's "apology" was made with weasel words. He would blame anyone, even the poor women herself rather than admit he should be cautious in what he says and he wasn't. What a nasty piece of walking egotism he is.

MaizieD Fri 10-Nov-17 22:32:03

Sorry... meant ".. off her list."

MaizieD Fri 10-Nov-17 22:31:02

Caroline Lucas left a few things of her list..

Someone earlier was trying to suggest that Boris's gaffe about 'teaching journalists' might have been due to his briefing. I just can't seeing a professional Foreign Office civil servant briefing him so badly. I can only think that if it were mentioned in his briefing it would have been with the instruction not to breathe a word of it in public.

An instruction promptly forgotten by old blabbermouth...

This is interesting.
Patel has history.

My grandson watched the video today and had tears in his eyes at the end.
He signed the petition of his own accord. Good to have a grandson who cares about somebody else.

durhamjen Fri 10-Nov-17 18:36:17

No, but I have been following it for over a year, so possibly know more about it than, you, lemon.

Have you watched Richard Ratcliffe's video?

lemongrove Fri 10-Nov-17 18:26:08

Wooden spoon again jura2 or flame thrower?

I don’t know a thing about the truth of the case and neither do you or anybody else on GN.

jura2 Fri 10-Nov-17 18:23:54

Wow Lemon- what do YOU know about this case, pray tell. We are all ears.

lemongrove Fri 10-Nov-17 18:19:31

We all feel sorry for her and her family but can’t act / speak as if we know exactly, all the ins and outs of the case.

lemongrove Fri 10-Nov-17 18:17:59

Another personal attack on anybody you don’t like/ don’t agree with durhamjen are you incapable of posting without doing this?
You know nothing about this case but are acting as if you have personal knowledge.

durhamjen Fri 10-Nov-17 17:54:05

Bloody hell, Day6, you are getting more and more ridiculous and pathetic. She was on holiday, for god's sake, visiting her parents, taking their granddaughter to meet them!
She works for a charity.
Your last post was quite sickening. Do you have no feelings for anyone?
I have a new grandson, ten weeks old. His other grandparents haven't seen him yet as they live in Spain. His granddad is ill. I feel sorry enough for them, let alone the Zagharis.

Day6 Fri 10-Nov-17 17:53:18

The Evening Standard is a completely biased rag now Osborne runs it.

He is attacking the government at every opportunity.

"At least us rabid left wing remainers don't constantly come up with excuses for incompetent government ministers just because they happen to be a] Conservative and b]brexiters."

No one is 'making excuses' for anyone Tegan but some of us think there is more to this story than Boris Johnson's remark.

The woman is already in prison for some infringement of Iranian law. She is seen as a political activist and has fallen foul of the authorities already - that is why she is behind bars. That was NOT BJ's doing.

Was she training journalists? Do you know? I am pretty sure BJ didn't make it up. The truth has to come out but you "rabid left wing Remainers" (your words) are using this to attack BJ and TM and the government in general.

You rush to attack the government in any situation but many people are asking about the prisoner's actions in Iran and rightly so, as well as the harshness of the Iranian regime.

We need more information to determine if there has been a miscarriage of justice, but don't let that stop you attacking any Conservative politician you can.

By the by, but I am of the opinion BJ shouldn't have been given the foreign affairs post. His delivery and persona is a liability imo. I wouldn't be at all surprised if TM had a reshuffle. Should have happened a while ago as far as Boris is concerned imo. A good manager would. It is not a sign of weakness to bring in other players. Ask any football coach.

Not sure this will help her. Maybe that was Osborne's aim.

Who is complaining about those ‘who care’ ?
I take it that you do condemn the Iran regime for jailing this woman? Because, tbh it is not at all clear that everybody here does
I expect her husband does know the exact truth of the matter. You don’t though, and neither do I.
I feel very sorry for anybody who falls foul of that regime.

durhamjen Fri 10-Nov-17 17:08:36

infacts.org/penny-mordaunt-choice-lays-mays-powerlessness-bare/

THis is why May had to choose Mordaunt. So sad.

durhamjen Fri 10-Nov-17 17:08:04

Lemongrove, her husband knows what happened and why.
Obviously you can't be bothered to read/listen to what he says, so you have no right to complain about those of us who do care, over a million so far.
Stop pretending you care.

whitewave Fri 10-Nov-17 17:07:35

Of course Iran was wrong. But that isn’t the issue. The issue is a bungling fool who sits in the FO and consistently makes embarrassing and dangerous statements, which other countries are sometimes shocked at, sometimes amused but always with the opinion that Johnson is a laughable idiot.

MaizieD Fri 10-Nov-17 17:00:29

Er, it was Day6 who brought it up:

It's like pissing in the wind to try and divert the left wing, Remain flow.

lemongrove Fri 10-Nov-17 16:29:12

Back to Brexit are we?

lemongrove Fri 10-Nov-17 16:27:58

Does anybody not blame Iran for sending her to prison in the first place?Hmmm? speak up!

None of us knows what happened and why.
