Priti Patel deserves her own thread

She is also the politician who came out and blatantly admitted, in a talk to the IOD a few weeks before the referendum, that one of the advantages of leaving the EU would be cutting back on "the costs of employment" - i.e. maternity leave, parental leave etc. Sadly this did not get as much publicity as it should have done.

She really is a nasty, supercilious, piece of work in a position she would never be in if May had a stronger government.

Agree Jura.

The title really bugs me, sorry. Priti Patel 'deserves' nothing - but the sack.

I told DH that she had said:
British workers are among the worst idlers in the world

and he asked if she was including herself in that number.

Why hasn't she been sacked already?

Because May is too weak.

I think Boris should be on his way out too. His 'gaffe' this time or, as I like to call it 'misleading statement' (because this man cannot even lie straight in bed) may mean that Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe’s sentence in Iran may be increase!

Talk about the ship of state. It is actually being driven toward every iceberg around.

Her meetings were basically ‘Hello Israel, what would you like us to do for you?’ She is a huge supporter of Israel. Given the complexities of Middle East politics, it’s easy to see the potential for harm.

'She is known to be “thick” - not my words, and has been tipped as a possible PM'; isn't that requirement for the job?

I cannot accept her lying. That should be a sackable offence. But TM cannot leak any more ministers or she will be sitting all on her lone-ee-o.

I had high hopes for PP particularly with regard to her addressing the problems we are having with the overseas aid programme. I'm disappointed that she too seems to have fallen from grace.

Remember the Peter Principle "Every employee tends to raise to their level of incompetence" Certainly holds true for PP and others.

Do any of them know what they are doing?

whitewave Mon 06-Nov-17 16:18:21

What, I wonder, were her meetings about?

whitewave Mon 06-Nov-17 16:17:41

She is known to be “thick” - not my words, and has been tipped as a possible PM shock

maryeliza54 Mon 06-Nov-17 16:02:45

Make that 12 meetings

maryeliza54 Mon 06-Nov-17 15:59:35

Why hasn't she been sacked already? She goes in holiday, holds 10 meetings with a range of senior figures, including BN without telling the FO and even worse, suggesting that BJ knew about it in advance. Downing Street says she has been reminded ' of the obligations which exist under the ministerial code ' -oh you mean doing what you want in foreign countries and then lying about it?
