I can't see Esther McVey being more understanding than Gauke on universal credit. Fairy godmother and pantomime season are over.

The word is that they are dying on their feet.

Brexit is beginning to be seen as the last battle of the old guard and that they are now in no position to fight another great battle on this sort of scale. They have neither the troops nor the solidarity to do so. The cabinet continues to exist of the very types that the under 50s are rejecting. I.e. 34% public school educated. Few if any from a working class back ground, and a large % of multi millionaires.

Interesting article in the Independent which I think someone put up on a thread. The democratic process of encouraging people from all background and faith to come together as a community to deal with issues at root level. I think it may well have legs. There is certainly the enthusiasm and knowledge to do so. It would certainly bring a level of democracy to the U.K. not seen for some time.

I think there is a lot of truth in what you say whitewave. My sadness is seeing the older people who are so very anti the young.

I wonder where this would take 'party' politics. My feeling is that the Tories have recognised that more must be done at grass roots level - although I doubt it will offset what people see them doing in parliament.

I am looking forward to the appearance of a petition to remove John McDonnell following the unpleasant remarks and threats he made about Esther McVey. But I won't hold my breath.

Isn't it funny that the only way anyone can express opposition to the things posted on here is not by denying them or posting positive comments about the Gov, the Conservatives or Theresa. but by trying to derail the thread with comments about something else entirely. This morning on Radio 4 I was unlucky enough to adult my ears by listening to Grayling. The questions concerned the chaos in the rail network and in particular in the south of the country. Grayling has received a report from the NAO.

Grayling repeated over and over again that the chaos was entirely the fault of the unions.

I have just been watching local lunch time news which reported from the NAO report which remember Grayling has read.

The fault the NAO said was laid both primarily with the franchisee but also at the bad handling by Grayling.

Clearly the new ministerial behaviour insisted on by Maybot does not include LYING.
