Corbyns Inertia

This thread is - CORBYNS Inertia, not the conservative party's inertia

This thread is about inertia. Where - really I would like to know - is the Tory party going to get the members to support the candidates in the next election.

When people look at what the Tories have done we also see almost complete inertia leading to a breakdown in the services that all but a small number on the far right still want.

We see inertia creaping into the Brexit talks. David Davies look, before Christmas looked almost worse than inert - he had flopped.

I see no inertia in the LP. It is obvious that, behind the scenes they are working on policy - just as they had before the last election. Behind the scenes, without inviting MSM journalists, the LP are out and about meeting people. If you are an old right-winger who isn't a member of any party, you will not have any idea this is going on. If you don't get your news only from one or other version of the DM you may well do. That is most certainly not inertia; it's very clever politics. Just think of the shock (again) that is to come for the old right-wingers.

A new party was suggested after Corbyn won the leadership and the vote of no confidence by the centre left MP's, I was against it but now think differently . if Corbyn were to stand down in four years the next leader will be elected by Momentum, the Labour Party is finished . We need the centre left MP's to take on the Tory government.

However, Lemons, this is exactly the right thread - unless it is your intention to drive everyone who is not Tory away - on which to show that the inertia is among the Cons support that is not apparent among the LP support, even if everyone you ever meet would not vote Labour.

Most voters in the UK don’t belong to any political party in any case.
I think we need a third party made up fromthe left ground of the Conservatives and the right of Labour.
All those Labour MPs (170?) who agreed with a vote of no confidence in Corbyn could start on this right away!

I think one of the biggest problems that the Tory party is facing with regard to the voter is that it’s policy is being driven by its membership which is far to the right of the majority of voters in the U.K.

The membership which is now down to 70k and old and reactionary. Not a good look .

there was a lot on offer to the young voter as there was by the Libs, if Corbyn fails to deliver they will leave as they did to the Libs

I don't think we're going to hear anything from Corbyn this week as he's still on holiday - so this thread may suffer from a bit of inertia.

I agree that Corbyn and Momentum have brought a lot of young voters to the LP. I don't know if they'll be able to keep them on board for another 4 years though. They were very effective at engaging people for a short period of time, but Corbyn might seem like yesterday's man to them in 2022 if he's still around (My money is on him going before then)

So many more left wing younger voters ( who don’t know much about Corbyn) have boosted the ranks of voters, or did in the last GE, but he has also accounted for losses, people who will never vote for him, but are Labour voters.
Without these, it would be very hard to win a GE for him.
Momentum have insinuated themselves everywhere that counts, Universities, and councils up and down the land,
They are the mostly unacknowledged but powerful activist group going, trying to root out moderate Labour MP candidates and councillors wherever they can to push their man Corbyn ( and it is the man, not the LP that they are working so hard for) into power.

Sometimes my sense of humour takes a bit of explaining!

Perhaps Corbyn inviting the IRA to tea at Westminster just after the Brighton bombings when people were killed, maimed and injured was extreme - I agree.
Perhaps he regrets it now.
We all do things we regret I'm sure, but that was rather an extreme thing to do.
