Pity Corbyn didn't fight to stay in
People in the distance 'look local'
What does a local person look like ww?
Nora Mulready is currently on the Daily Politics. A local person. Complaining about Momentum and bullying.
When she was challenged about allegations by Chris Williamson, she pointed out that she was referring to published articles. He reminds me of Norman Tebbit and I can't work out why!
An amazing result - wow. Hope both labour and Tories get the message.
That is certainly an interesting vote whitewave. I can't see the MSM going up to find out just what people are feeling though. It is so annoying that the news and journalists are so London centric. I would really like to hear more about this.
Libs won a resounding success in Sunderland.
At last the voters are waking up to what Brexit is going to do to their jobs and voting for a party with a clear remain message.
Latest from local council results and news
Another labour council leader has resigned , Jon Clempner in Harlow, he says he has been repeated targeted by members of Momentum. In response the Momentums LOCAL CHIEF Said -people are not always going to see eye to eye, I was not aware of any insults !
Labour held one seat in Cornwall but lost another in Sunderland heartland
You clearly have never been on any marches lemon
Have you seen the banners ww !
I will not get into this oh so silly argument.
I could very well continually accuse the Tory party of moving to the hard right, it would be so easy listening to the nonsense that is Mogg, Fox etc. But I don’t see the point, as it is such a sterile pursuit.
Don’t be silly primrose how do you know that they aren’t local people, they look local to me stretching into the distance.
You are insulting those who are so frightened of being cleansed from the borough.
You are the same as many on the right. Say it often enough and you hope it will come true.
whitewave - take a look at the 'stock photos' on places like Alamy and Getty images if you want to see what the protests look like. These are both from different photographers covering the protest on 23rd Sept last year.
These are not local people protesting.
It's organised and coordinated by different political groups.
Good posts whitewave and wilmaknickersfit, but I fear they fall on deaf ears
Sounds as if you are taking it seriously though trisher
And in any case apart from Momentum infiltrating the LP
( hardly fake news) who has said the other things?Nobody!
So, you have created your very own fake news.
What constitutes facts on this thread GGMK2 is much like what constitutes truth for Donald Trump. It's a new twist on Fake News. So for example.
If you are left wing you are/must be far or hard left.
All left wingers are communists/marxists
All left wingers are members of Momentum (although some are undercover and denying this)
Momentum is taking over the Labour Party
All left wingers worship Corbyn.
There are probably more silly ideas on this thread but really I can't be bothered with them. It is quite funny to read sometimes, just as a joke of course. Not worth taking seriously!
Sounds like you know what you are talking about ( more than most) on here Primrose about the area and situation.
Momentum are hell bent on getting their sticky paws on every aspect of the LP, and those who can’t see that do have heads firmly stuck somewhere.
Good try GGM2
Heads firmly in the sand about Momentum!
Stirring again Lemons?
I think that people are trying to find out the truth about a particular bit of news. They are not into lies, damned lies and prejudice currently. You just keep attacking the views you don't like with no facts though Lemons.
I'm not so sure about 'local people' protesting whitewave. Have you seen the protests? I've actually seen them and there are plenty of 'Communist party of xxxx' banners. Most 'local people' have not participated. They have looked on, pretty annoyed, as they've been blocking up the road/pavement.
The vast majority of 'local people' have not been protesting.
David Lammy, the local MP, actually proposed exactly the same scheme when he stood for Mayor of London too.

I'm happy to go through your points one by one.
I don't really know what you mean by the Elephant & Castle regeneration. Do you mean the current plans, the Heygate/Aylesbury ones or other ones? It's an area where the regeneration started about 15 years ago, there have been lots of plans so I don't want to address the wrong issue. I'd guess it's the Heygate estate, but that was a totally different framework, so I'm not sure how that's comparable.
I know these areas really well whitewave. Family members and friends are 'the locals' you talk about. I've lived in London for most of my life. I can assure you there are plenty of 'locals' who have opinions that differ from yours!
But you see primrose it isn’t one article by one journalist, that has been my point all along. Corbyn has clearly listened to the arguments by the tenants who fear, and rightly so social cleansing looked what happened to the Elephant and Castle.
And you are wrong to say that the local peop,e are not protesting - they have protested ever since it became apparent what Kober intended.
Her advocacy of the HDV left her almost entirely isolated, and the campaign against the HDV was by no means limited to the left as you would like it to be believed. David Lammas and Catherine West both oppose the deal. It also included Lib Dem’s and many others.
Handing billions to the private sector is in my opinion entirely wrong, and hundreds of local people agree and took part in marches, crowd funding etc. Carillion should stand as a warning.
The claim that this is a plot by Momentum is an insult to all the folk who have worked so hard and fought so valiantly to ensure that they are not cleansed from the borough.
It is local democracy in action. It stemmed from the grass roots, relying not on spin and glossy brochures but on tireless campaigning and a belief in what they were fighting for. The demolition of their houses has been for the time been stopped.
Good on them!
Heads firmly in the sand about Momentum!
Wilma, I'm not sure that one article by one Guardian journalist is the whole story about Haringey. Everyone has an opinion as to whether they are moderate or not, is it was a viable way forward or not. If they were bullied out by Momentum or not.
But here's another Guardian journalist, Dave Hill, who has written quite a few articles with a different view.
www.onlondon.co.uk/?s=haringey
Even the author of the linked article acknowledged this is not local people complaining, it is a political, ideologically lead 'war' (his words, not mine). No mention of local people in opposition in this earlier opinion piece.
www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/sep/27/jeremy-corbyn-labour-councils-housing
"In Haringey ... The plan has sent the local Labour movement into a bitter civil war. Corbyn has effectively taken sides in that war – and it is against council leader Claire Kober."
Putting a label on the (removed) council leader will not help the people living on Broadwater Farm improve their living conditions. The people who opposed the plans have no alternative options.
A bit like the Tory bashing threads and the Brexit bashing threads that you enjoy posting on then whitewave
I have posted about Haringey in the past with exactly the same information in your link wilma
But it is much more fun to continue with the usual myth about Momentum and Corbyn, and hopefully as a distraction from the utter shambles and disgrace of this current government.
I have largely given up. I see no point in continuing debating with pages and pages of accusation of communism, Marxism and anti-semitism. If the question put is answered, but ignored and posts continue with the same old same old what is the point?
Primrose are you saying Claire Kober was a moderate LP council leader?
