Annie your description has put me off my cocoa!

Anniebach Thu 01-Feb-18 21:56:13

Not another Primrose, Big Brother is with us

Anniebach Thu 01-Feb-18 21:54:55

We have had loads of comments on TM, her hair, make up, trousers, holiday dress, jewellery , her faith, length of her skirts and more.

Then the mocking of Rees Moggs speech, his staff, names of his children,

One comment on a mucus stained beard is nothing compared to the above

When we judge our Politicians like this:

I haven't a strong stomach , anyone in contact with Corbyn please advise him with his white facial hair a black streak under his nostrils could be squired with some dye , yuck,

then we really have hit rock bottom.

I'm sure we could cover pages on the looks of Rees-Mogg, David Davies, Johnson. Lawson and indeed Mrs May.

I do think we'd better keep our judgement on their politics- perhaps? Although I will say, for balance, that David Davies looks absolutely awful at the moment, puffy, grey and yellow- and completely off his rocker or permanently drunk. Not a good look - there I said it.

Yes, another one bites the dust.....and it will continue unabated!

Looks like another moderate LP council leader has been hounded out in Harlow. No property development issues there. He was officially warned about my calling out the behaviour of others, which I think is particularly sad and a license to bully.

We do know that people have tried to get publicity for their own point of view

By resigning from the shadow cabinet
By stepping down as a councillor
By giving up their membership of the Labour Party
By being removed from the NEC
By being suspended from the Labour Party for wanting to discuss the rights of women

Pretty drastic way 'to get publicity'.

There must have been hundreds of very flaky people elected into positions of responsibility in the Labour Party for this to happen and even more flaky members.

Or there could be a more believable reason - they are all resigning for the reasons they state.

Anniebach Wed 31-Jan-18 22:29:55

Yes in both parties Fitzy

Fitzy54 Wed 31-Jan-18 22:26:36

GG I think it’s pretty clear that their is something of a war going on in the Labour Party. There is also something of a war going on in the Tory Party.

nightowl Wed 31-Jan-18 21:36:38

That’s a very helpful summary Wilma, thank you. Not quite so clear cut then.

What's going on in Haringey has been all over Private Eye for ages.

The HDV is so unique and controversial that a judicial review was held last October and the decision has not yet been announced.

This the first transfer of land and power to a structure involving a developer motivated by delivering profits to shareholders, not creating a better place to live for residents. The £2bn value of assets involved include the borough’s houses, shops, community venues and shared spaces. It represents the biggest transfer of public assets in council history. The number of council homes involved is more than 5000, including 630 housing association properties.

It's a very divisive policy with voting very close. One of the most controversial issues is 19 out of 20 of the Labour councillors voting in favour of the plans are not standing in the May elections. This is why the council is trying to get the plan through before the election.

Major held cabinet positions before becoming PM he didn't leap from the back benches , rather like serving an apprenticeship

Bridgeit Wed 31-Jan-18 21:01:42

I bet my bottom dollar that you GG would pick up this batten ( of non qualifications) if it so suited you in a discussion.

MaizieD Wed 31-Jan-18 20:51:33

John Major became PM with just a handful of GCE 'O'levels.

Just saying...

(and Wally ignored this last time I pointed it out, too...)

GracesGranMK2 Wed 31-Jan-18 20:33:16

The fact that Corbyn has the education he has just seems to me to be totally irrelevant. You cannot, in my experience, judge leadership by academic qualification. Obviously you do Wally but I have not seen people leaping to agree with you that we should check the qualifications of all those standing for a vote from the country to put their party into power. Some, of course, will agree with any dig at Corbyn but we do have to be careful we don't set a standard that may not suit us when the politician whose views we do like comes along and, hey folks, he doesn't have he 'required qualifications' either.

Bridgeit Wed 31-Jan-18 20:25:40

GG. Wally’s qualification, is that of a potential voter, & that is all the qualification any of us needs to judge those who are elected to serve us !

Wally Wed 31-Jan-18 20:23:34

I have made several points as to his unsuitability to be leader which you have ignored so I think it best if we move on as we're getting nowhere.

Anniebach Wed 31-Jan-18 20:18:25

Wally, your education is no one's business but you have the right to question the education of a person who wants to be PM and represent this country on the world stage.

Corbyn wasn't working class, very middle class, the class he now condemns.

I respect your honesty and agree with your posts

GracesGranMK2 Wed 31-Jan-18 20:16:30

But really, Wally, what I was asking was, if you are asking us to judge Corbyn by his qualifications, by what qualification are we to judge your right to decide that is how we should all assess him.

People have shown leadership without having a 'leadership' qualification and been completely hopeless when highly qualified academically. I have a strong feeling that if his politics were different you wouldn't even have mentioned this.

Wally Wed 31-Jan-18 20:07:50

I thought that my answer was to what I was being asked. Firstly I'm older than Corbyn and in my day working class children didn't go to university even the Grammar school children. I don't know of one single child that went. Secondly I don't know what my education has got to do with anything as I'm not trying to be Prime Minister but here goes. I am a technician grade 4 and I found it very difficult I'm no brain of Britain but it got me by.

GracesGranMK2 Wed 31-Jan-18 19:50:48

You have already said that Wally and I will ask you the same question I asked the first time. Do tell which University you went to (I assume you are about Corbyn's age) and what qualifications you got if suddenly only those with the qualification you require them to have would make a decent leader. After all after the current shower - with all their qualifications - anyone who is half good would be an improvement.

GracesGranMK2 Wed 31-Jan-18 19:48:13

But we don't actually know that anyone is trying to beat anyone up Fitzy. We do know that people have tried to get publicity for their own point of view and that some papers and some GNetters will love making what they can about what is being said by some councillors. I want to know the truth before I start getting angry about it.
