Continuity of previous thread.

It is interesting to know that the Tories have chosen the environment as one of the focuses in order to try and tackle the young vote.

This morning I read that this failing government (shades of Trumpgrin is refusing to sign up to the EUs plan to tackle plastic waste.

A prime example f this government shooting itself in the foot on a number of levels.

Yes grin and how very very special our relationship is. Oh dear

durhamjen Thu 25-Jan-18 19:22:07

Did she actually say about working with him on trade deals?
He's already putting up tariffs all over the place to ensure America is first.

Maybot’s meeting with the Stable Genius was as excruciatingly embarrassing as one could expect.

whitewave Thu 25-Jan-18 18:41:42

The Tories have managed after 7 long years of austerity to ensure that 40% of those in work have finances that are permanently precarious and 30% are not managing.

suzied Thu 25-Jan-18 17:38:52

I think David Cameron set the bar quite low in the "worst PM stakes".

jura2 Thu 25-Jan-18 17:33:07

Hammond seems to be the only one with any intelligence and common sense, and proper communciation skills.

So, I'll ask again- as no-one replied, I believe, the last time I asked this genuine question:

WHO in the Conservative Party has the calibre to take over from Mrs May, and who has the calibre to be part of his or her Cabinet. I have to say I am struggling on this one, truly.
HELP.

Why is it that the government only thinks in terms of cash?

Regarding homelessness, and sleeping rough, "The government says it has committed a billion pounds to homelessness" has just been said on the news.
How much did it take away from benefits in order to create the homelessness in the first place? How mnay people, particularly young men, did it make homeless?
The number of those sleeping rough has increased for the seventh year in a row - just been announced on BBC news.

Note lemon she’s busy building on her dreadful reputation.

whitewave Thu 25-Jan-18 15:05:13

Business leaders in Davos have given their damning verdict on Mays tech speech as “lazy” “disappointing” “ridiculous” and embarrassing..

That went well then

lemongrove Thu 25-Jan-18 13:59:20

Being judged ‘the worst’ in history needs something more than being too cautious and not aiming high enough though! Pedantic of me I know.grin

whitewave Thu 25-Jan-18 13:54:50

Ah but it is a dead cert that May is as we can clearly see how utterly incompetent she is as a prime minister. May is useless, nothing will change that as long as she is PM. Her fellow Tories recognise this fact, but a total paucity of choice keeps her in position.

Yes of course Corbyn could be judged a poor PM. but at p,resent May has no rival for the position.

lemongrove Thu 25-Jan-18 13:39:17

If ever he is lucky enough to get into power, history could well judge Corbyn to be the worst PM ever.
There are four and a half years to go before another GE, and T May has time to turn things around.
All depends on Brexit and how things go, so premature to be second guessing what history ‘will judge’.

whitewave Thu 25-Jan-18 13:31:01

Shameful!

whitewave Thu 25-Jan-18 13:21:11

Rough sleeping has risen 168% since the Tories took office.

How shamful

whitewave Thu 25-Jan-18 12:47:46

Apparently history will judge her as the worse prime minister ever.

whitewave Thu 25-Jan-18 12:46:57

Good article in the FT which argues that Maybot has no clear strategy, and has no vision of a post Brexit Britain.
In other words she is as clueless as Davis, Johnson and Fox.

paddyann Thu 25-Jan-18 12:14:45

why are waiting tme calculated differently in England? In Scotland its the time from arrival so patients have to be seen ,teated and referred or sent to a ward or discharged all within the 4 hour limit .Up until christmas we were sitting at 93% success..I know SOME hospitals had issues with huge numbers over christmas but one Highland hospital actually CUT its waiting times .Can I point out tha nurses STILL get bursaries here and that the 1% pay cap has changed to 3% for nurses up to £35000 and 2% for nurses over that amount .Of course our new tax situation means they will pay extra tax..BUT even factoring that in the average nurse will still be over £700 a year better off .The main issue we have I imagine is the same down south..EU nationals will be leaving in droves meaning a shortage of staff all round the NHS .

Fennel Thu 25-Jan-18 10:48:31

I'm not a fan of Theresa May, but sometimes wonder if her poor performance, especially on Brexit, is that she was a remainer, so going against her principles.
Or was she only a remainer to keep in Cameron's good books?

whitewave Thu 25-Jan-18 10:35:57

I do wonder at maybots judgement in her cabinet.

Did anyone see Davis in his performance when attending the Brexit committee at the beginning of this week? The only explanation for his behaviour could be that he was 3 sheets to the wind or that he simply is so clueless that he changes his mind from day to day in the hope that he eventually arrives on the correct course to take.

I suspect it is both.

Even his fellow Brexiters on the committee were shocked into embarrassed silence.

durhamjen Wed 24-Jan-18 22:26:13

Sorry, hospital.

durhamjen Wed 24-Jan-18 22:25:47

NHS waiting times for England and Wales NHS, which May mentioned at PMQs.

In England they count from when the patient has been deemed to need admission, i.e., when they could have been already waiting for 8 hours.
In Wales they start counting from when the patient arrives at hosital.

Also with every piece of 'new' money, which often isn't new at all, come time- consuming conditions and provisos re how it is spent. Or as with the 'new' social care precept last year it comes from raising the already unfair council tax.
