I expect this is going to divide opinion, but what's your take on the Men Only charity event that's all over the news. However, for those not familiar, a bevy of young women, many of them students, were recruited through an agency for this event, they had to be slim and good looking they were told to wear sexy shoes and black underwear to go under the very skimpy dresses provided. They also had to sign a five page disclaimer, which they didn't get to read and weren't given a copy of. A couple of female undercover FT journalists were also amoung these young women and testified to appalling behaviour by SOME of the male guests. To give a flavour of the offers guests were asked to bid for "Plastic surgery to spice up the Mrs" hmm Jess Phillips gave a very good speech in Parliament imo saying these young women who were expected to act as hostesses "were merely bait" Personally I find it sickening that the guise of charity is used as a way to negate the bad behaviour in this sort of evening. I believe some of the high profile charities such as GOSH have told the now defunct Presidents' Club, where to stick their money.

Why do they not fit in with charities? Surely everyone who gives to charity does not live the lives of Saints. Should morals of blood donors be questioned ? If you needed a blood transfusion would you refuse blood from a man for fear he had pinched a woman's bum? Do the homeless give a damn if money given to them is from a bottom pincher or someone who doesn't care if their bottom is pinched and as for food banks , should all who give do so on oath they are neither of 1 or 2?

On the surface of things it just looks like 2 equations ie
Wealthy men at men’s only do + lovely girls in skimpy clothes = I’m rich I’m powerful I’m donating lots of money & I am entitled to manhandle what I have paid for
2nd equation:I’m a beautiful young woman , I can, earn good money because I look good & can serve at table, I can also allow silly old munters to ogle & or touch me .
But there is a third part, which is that it’s a charity do & it’s raising money for children’s charities .The equation no longer balances out because the first two parts do not fit in with the 3rd factor!

Exactly Misadventure .

Anniebach Thu 01-Feb-18 10:53:12

My mistake dj

MissAdventure Thu 01-Feb-18 10:52:44

I expect she saw the error of her ways and wants to help other misguided, intelligent, free thinking women to see things as she does.

gillybob Thu 01-Feb-18 10:51:23

Hypocritical !!

gillybob Thu 01-Feb-18 10:50:48

Oh and Bev Turner who had so much to say about the grid girls used to be a glamour model herself . She regularly worked for FHM and Elite Premier modelling . Hupocrital or what ?

Oops that to durhamjen.

Anniebach Thu 01-Feb-18 10:40:00

Which son of Ecclstone dj, Deborah, Tamara or Petra?

MissAdventure Thu 01-Feb-18 10:39:33

I don't think its for anyone at all ever, to tell others what they "should" aspire to. That's too arrogant for words.

gillybob Thu 01-Feb-18 10:34:28

Yes it was Radio Newcastle “radio station for the North East” dj . smile

The reason women aren’t represented in motor racing ( and believe me I know what I’m talking about) is that they are simply not good enough. Yes there was one or 2 who got a sympathy sponsored drive but they were totally crap .

durhamjen Thu 01-Feb-18 10:33:17

It wasn't on her phone, Annie. She was walking about working, so couldn't stop and take still photos. That would look suspicious, wouldn't it?

gillybob Thu 01-Feb-18 10:31:47

Exactly Missdventure and she started as a brolly dolly for formula 1 .

A Funny ( old guy) caller on the radio this morning said “ Some of these women only do it in order to marry a rich formula 1 driver” grin needless to say he was shot down in flames !

durhamjen Thu 01-Feb-18 10:31:34

Gillybob, what I think is appalling is to say that people who care about this do not care about women being killed by their partners. Can we not do both?
As you were obviously listening to Radio Newcastle, it will not surprise you to know I agree with the first woman who spoke about all the girls who go to Formula 1, etc. They should aspire to being the drivers, not draping themselves over the car bonnets.
Bernie Ecclestone's son in law was at that party, by the way.

Anniebach Thu 01-Feb-18 10:31:18

Expect Katie Price gives some an attack of the vapours and they want to tell her to get an education or go find a cleaning job, plenty of professional woman want cleaners

Anniebach Thu 01-Feb-18 10:28:18

Then do explain dj how the FT times reporter showed A video clip of the event ?

MissAdventure Thu 01-Feb-18 10:27:12

Katie Price has done very well, thank you! Like or loathe her, and what she stands for, she has built up a huge business for herself. For herself..

Anniebach Thu 01-Feb-18 10:26:58

Why did that feminist think she had the right to tell the girl who has lost her job with Formula 1 to get an education,

Yes tell men they do not have the right to touch a woman's bum and tell arrogant feminists they do not have the right to tell another woman her chosen job was wrong and to get an education.

Posters can post the definition of hysteria according to Freud, I still say this is mass hysteria . This is all based on one reporters claims and to compare this with the fight in the fifties for women to have her name on a rent book , to buy on HP without the signature of a man .

Does anyone know if now, when a woman chooses to have a sterilisation op her husband has to sign his consent?

durhamjen Thu 01-Feb-18 10:26:41

The reporters could not take photos as all the girls had their phones taken off them and locked away when they arrived so they could not take photos.
Why don't you actually read some of the links before you write such stuff?

gillybob Thu 01-Feb-18 10:25:37

trisher I don’t think that was a fair comment to Annie at all . When I think she was saying that a women suffering severe domestic abuse / being murdered even, seems to cause less of an uproar than some women dressing up in skimpy sexy clothes in order to tease money out of rich men.

gillybob Thu 01-Feb-18 10:22:01

I beg to differ re the burka trisher However I agree that dressing in skimpy clothes is not a license for men to touch. They are used as teasers .... look at what you could have . But don’t you dare touch .

I agree with missadventure

Some women who started as darts dollies, formula 1 brolly dollies etc. have gone on to have very lucrative modelling careers.

trisher Thu 01-Feb-18 10:14:29

No extreme feminists want women in burkhas. No extreme feminists want anyoneto lose their jobs. But if the job is allowing men to touch and fondle you at will then that needs to be clearly expressed when the women are recruited. As for women parading at darts meetings well why not have men as well? It will of course be men sacking women using any excuse they can.
Annie the women who campaign for equality are always the voices who cry out against violence against women. You bringing women being murdered into such a discussion shows how unfeeling you are and how low you will sink.

Bridgeit Thu 01-Feb-18 10:09:57

The point is not about the girls doing these jobs , they have every right to & good luck to them especially if it pays well.
The point is does that mean they have to accept being touched/groped by anyone unless they have given their permission.
If the terms of employment were that they should expect to be fondled during the course of their work shift, then there is no problem .

MissAdventure Thu 01-Feb-18 10:08:30

I think that's any normal thinking persons hope. Extreme feminists want to decide on behalf of other women what is and isn't appropriate.

MaizieD Thu 01-Feb-18 10:02:02

I’m wondering if certain extreme feminists won’t be happy until our granddaughters are all wearing the Burka.

I think that 'extreme feminists' are wanting a world where women can feel free to wear skimpy clothes without it being interpreted as licence for men to touch their bottoms.

gillybob Thu 01-Feb-18 09:27:36

I agree with you Annie I’m listening to a radio phone in with a ( now sacked) darts walk on lady. Very interesting . I just wish women would leave other women to do what they choose to do .
