I haven't read it in the msm, I know from a friend whose parents were also activists and went to rallies etc with them. In fact DF probably knew them as well, but, not being wealthy, he didn't have a car so any rallies he went to would have been limited to nearer home.

lemongrove No one has poured scorn upon the wealthy- except in your imagination. Of course there are rich people, and if they pay their taxes none of us lefties object to them at all. It is the massive earners who don't contribute we object to.
Interesting about the suffragettes Primrose65 they have up till now been viewed through rose tinted glasses. They were about as varied a bunch as you can imagine. Some of them would undoubtedly be called terrorists now. Some were very middle class and wanted the vote for middle class women. Only a few believed in universal suffrage.

I think it shows a real yearning to be involved and something they haven’t had the opportunity to do for many years. So much is discussed and decided on in a totally democratic way. It is heart lifting to see democracy in action.

It great news that more people are getting involved in politics whitewave.

Corbyn has hired a new equalities advisor. Munroe Bergdorf. A transgender model fired by L'Oreal for saying all white people are racist. Apparently, "the Suffragettes were white supremacists" and she has just written an article for Grazia this month titled 'Women are getting feminism wrong'.

After the (justified) fuss over Toby Young, I cannot see how this was a smart appointment.

I know that trisher and no reason at all (we've had this conversation I think) but I thought many fingers in speculative capitalism was supposed to be exclusive to Tories.

There is a rich history of left wing activism amongst the upper middle class. - I think everyone knows that! Mr and Mrs Corbyn were wealthy left-wing activists years ago.

What I want to know is - what are Lansman's motives? What makes him tick? Just how controlling may he be?
And does equality for all mean embracing capitalism to enable everyone to be as rich as he is?
Or will the poor still be queuing at foodbanks while he swans off to his dacha like all those Russian leaders he admires?

This is the problem with people misunderstanding what those to the left of centre want. I can't speak for all of them and certainly not for Jon Lansman but those I know would say they want equality of opportunity not equality of outcome - they would be a) silly and b) almost certainly unachievable. Given you have intimated you believe Jon Lansman and the Unite Union, albeit without official status so to speak, started Momentum, something I am struggling to accept, can I ask you this.

Why do you think Lansman is standing against against Jennie Formby for the position of General Secretary?.

The close link between Momentum and Unite and the close link both personally and professionally between McClusky and Jennie Formby surely could lead to Len McClusky being put in a difficult position and would that not be a peculiar position to put him in as an ally, accomplice ?

I must admit I think if the rumours are true Jon Lansman , Jenny Formby and Andrew Murray are all candidates and presumably one of them wins I see this as even more of a shift to the far left for the Labour Party and the position of General Secretary will seal the deal.
