I am so sad to hear the news about Emma - I believe she had a suspected heart attack.
Rest in peace

It's very sad RIP Emma

So sad, I loved the Vicar of Dibley and Emma was such a pivotal character. I agree with Jalima about the love affair with Hugo.

Jalima1108 Sun 25-Feb-18 12:14:31

The romance between Alice and Hugo was a joy to watch.

I absolutely loved her and often wished we could have seen her in something else as well as The Vicar of Dibley and Notting Hill. Such an untimely death. Such a funny lady.

Oh, Charleygirl, you missed such a treat. She was just brilliant in a subtle way. Very sad and shocking news, though I know she had health problems.

I have never heard of her- I have never watched the Vicar of Dibley but that is a very young age at which to die- very sad.

Very sad indeed. She was a comedy genius. I hope the BBC do a 'special' of Vicar of Dibley as a tribute. Those tellytubby bridesmaids and that wedding dress! RIP.

It is very sad news, she was a wonderful comedy actress and I loved her little chats with Dawn French at the end of each episode of the Vicar of Dibley in particular and, of course, her role in Notting Hill as Hugh Grant's sister.

Far too young sad

The timing of this announcement has coincided with learning of the death of a very dear friend of ours; ironically we always said that our friend and Emma Chambers were like two peas in a pod and our friend was almost the same age. sad

Luckygirl Sat 24-Feb-18 22:42:18

Well that is sad. She deserved her Best Comedy Actress Award. Her portrayal of Alice was wonderful.

Day6 Sat 24-Feb-18 22:35:05

Very sad news. Her death was of 'natural causes' so I presume as the result of illness or a condition.

She had a very private life - another reason I liked her. RIP.

Saddened to read this. Yes, her portrayal of the ‘dipsy’ Alice was a classic.

BlueBelle Sat 24-Feb-18 21:51:50

She was so funny and so sad she was very young

Sad to read that Emma Chambers has died
So young only 53 yrs old
I loved the dipsy Alice Tinker in the Vicar of Dibley.
My favourite bit of the programme was just at the end when she would have her little chat with the Vicar (Dawn French) sad
